MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm Review & Swatches
MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm are available in five shades for a limited time with the new MAC Apres Collection for Spring 2013. This is an exciting release for MAC as these balms are a new product. Yes, you might want to liken them to Suntints but believe me they are their own product.
Take a look!
MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm are $19.50 each and weight in at 0.33 oz. The price is disappointing considering Suntints are the same size and were $15.50 each I believe.
I don’t feel like these are similiar to Suntints in the least. Suntints have more of a Lipglass-like tackiness where as these have a smooth, gel-like feel with no tacky or sticky feel or finish.
I love the texture. They have a super shiny finish with a lighter feel on lips. The texture can be likened to a balm slash lipgloss hybrid. They keep lips pleasantly hydrated through the wear with a glossy finish that doesn’t quit. The texture is very similiar to MAC’s Lip Conditioner in the old tub packaging or even The Body Shop’s Lip Balm. The smooth texture allows the balm to glide onto lips easily.
Did I mention how much I love these?
After trying out two shades I instantly wanted to pick up the remaining three. But I’m reconsidering.
They have a problem.
Pigmentation.
Oh MAC how I wish you made them true to color. Unfortunately both shades I tried looked identical on my lips. They have a transparent finish with very little color pay off. A mere hint of tint that’s not very visible unless you’re REALLY looking closely. Sad, sad sigh!
I tried out Pure & Tender which is a dusky golden pink and Slightly Nude which is a golden coral. Neither showed very much color on my lips. If you’re lucky enough to have paler lips they might show through with some tint. But pigmented lips might find it difficult to detect any color at all.
I’m still deciding if I want to skip the other shades or just go ahead and indulge in the hopes they have better pigment. But I think I might just stick with these two.
Slightly Nude and Pure & Tender
Overall, GREAT formula! Just wish there was a bit more tint to them….! All in all a most excellent lip balm that provides a glossy finish and hydration. It’s the lack of pigment that disappoints. They missed the Muse Approval mark by only a tiny bit…
Loves!
Def worth indulging in a shade or two just don’t go too crazy as it appears they will all look the same on lips no matter the color(s) you choose.
