Rimmel Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara Review
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara ($5.99) recently launched in the US. I located mine at Harmons but it should be making the rounds at other drugstores for Spring 2013.
This is a fiber formula mascara that lengthens, lifts, and volumizes.
Let’s take a look!
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara has an interesting applicator that features a standard straight line plastic applicator with tiny spikes and a round ball bristle. The flat side of the brush builds volume where as the ball lifts lashes up and out.
Although the brush looks clumsy it actually applies easily without poking into your eye. There isn’t any clumping, mess, or fuss during application even though the applicator is bigger and the ball seems like it might prove stressful so near your eye. The flat edge of the brush captures lashes at the outer corner of the eye where as the bristled ball captures ones towards the inner eye. Brushing it through a few times didn’t result in any clumps and I saw some very nice length as well as a little volume.
The result is more of a fluttery lash look than anything else. There isn’t a ton of drama here but it does produce doll-like lashes that are longer, curled, and slightly fuller. The formula, although marketed as a fiber mascara, is a gel-like consistency that coat lashes with a lightweight finish which enables curl to last a good deal longer without weighting lashes down. I didn’t really notice the fibers in the least. This is a plus considering fiber mascaras tend to make me feel like I have something in my eye.
It doesn’t say it’s waterproof on the packaging but I didn’t have any issues with flakes, smudges, or general raccoon eyes and it was easy to remove with my regular eye makeup remover.
If you like a fluttery lash look Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Off Mascara should serve you well. If you’re looking for a fuller lash look with a ton of length you might wish to pair it up with another mascara for better results. I failed to see dramatically longer lashes from this formula nor did I feel like it made my lashes look super full. I liked it a lot and think it’ll make an excellent companion mascara but on its own I’m not terribly impressed.
