Sally Hansen Salon Insta-Gel Strips Starter Kit

A gel manicure at home? It could happen! Sally Hansen Salon Insta-Gel Strips are an easy two step gel manicure that you can do yourself at home.

Sally Hansen sells both the Salon Insta-Gel Strips separately and in a kit with a mini led lamp to achieve your manicure at home.

Take a look!

The kit is $29.99 (I saw it Harmons for $25.99) and includes:

  • 1 Mini Led
  • 16 Gel Polish Strips
  • 1 Gel Top Coat
  • 2 Nail Cleanser Pads
  • Cuticle Stick, File & Buffer
  • Instruction sheet

The actual Insta-Gel Strips are $12.99 each when you’re read to change the design or color of your nails.

The gel manicure lasts up to two weeks and is supposedly a very easy two step application process with chip resistant color and no dry time.

You simply apply the gel polish strips, top with the gel coat, and cure under the mini led lamp. After you’ll finish with a nail cleansing pad. The manicure removes easily with acetone polish remover when you’re ready to change your shade.

I’m not really a nail girl so I’m unsure if something like this is of interest to me. My sister does her nails every two weeks but I’m doubtful she’d even attempt something like this.

What about you?

Willing to forgo your weekly nail spa trip and do it yourself at home?

Do share!

Available now at drugstores as well as online at Ulta.com

P.S. I sure hope you had a pleasant weekend! Mine seems to have flew by! Did you do anything special?

This is interesting. I just recently started to wear color again. I’m enjoying dark reds these days. I do it at home & have to redo every 5 days or so. This could eventualy be an option depending on the colors. Weekend was pretty quiet given I had a horrible backache. At least today was less painful. 😀

I tried these, and I wasn’t impressed. They felt like regular SH strips, but with a UV cured topcoat to put over them. They didn’t feel any thicker or stronger than a regular coat of polish. I also noticed that they didnt last as well as the regular strips either. They started to get spiderweb- like cracks in the top coat a few days into it. After using this starter kit, the whole thing felt gimmicky to me. Especially since it says “two weeks of wear” on the REGULAR polish strips as well. If you are a fan of SH strips, save the price difference and just use the originals with a layer of topcoat.

I might do it for the patterned strips, for accent nails or nail art. The regular nail art strips always peel off on me right away. I wouldn’t bother for the solid colours, I don’t think. Not enough variety and $13 per application doesn’t appeal to me. I never go to the nail spa, I just paint my nails at home.

I think this is a pretty cool idea if you’re the kinda girl that likes your nails to look good, but not paint them all the time. I change my polish probably every 2-3 days!

Oooh, I hope someone posts a review! I’d love to hear if this is worth it. Those pink sparkly ones look so pretty. 🙂

I won’t be buying, I like doing my nails old-school, but it seems worth trying. Like if it fell in my lap, or if I was super into gel nails.

I very rarely want the same color on for two weeks!!! I think I’ll be passing on these.

I’m willing to try! Take my monies, Sally Hansen! My mom likes their regular nail strips and I’ve been weary of trying gel nails at a salon, since I just don’t want to sit there and it’s pricy at salons.

No Ma’am I am not willing to give up the liberty of doing my nails everyday because I am addicted like that. But I do however, think it is a wonderful idea for the average on the go woman. Kudos to Sally Hansen!
