The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Lip Balm Review

A great way to start off my Body Shop Vanillas Bliss Lip Balm review is to tell you Led Zeppelin was on Letterman last night. Go on, you know you want to head to youTube and catch it if you haven’t. Seeing Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones as, well, as old men is a surreal experience sometimes. It’s something I’ll never get used too.

When I was a teenager my bedroom was peppered with Robert Plant posters, shirtless, hair wildly waving around his head, and that gorgeous smile on his face. He was such a beautiful boy and perhaps a little bit of a gateway drug into the universe of vintage rock for me. Zepplin, Blue Cheer, The Who, and so many others have followed me well into my adulthood. I’m not THAT old but I have to say, they just don’t make music like that any more….!

Speaking of classics! The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Lip Balm may be my gateway drug into the world of the Vanilla Bliss Holiday 2012 Collection from the Body Shop and a possible instant classic!

Let’s take a look!

I don’t typically like vanilla flavored or scented anything but Vanilla Bliss could just change my mind. This delightful little lip balm is a tasty treat available for a limited time from The Body Shop for Holiday 2012. And the best news? There are Vanilla Bliss scented Bath & Body goodies to explore as well. I think I need to get to the Body Shop soon and explore them!

The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Lip Balm is one of three new lip balms the brand introduced for the holidays. I’ve already viewed both Ginger Sparkle and Cranberry Joy for you in a few of my recent posts.

This little balm is about the size of a quarter in diameter and has a similiar dome shape as an EOS Lip Balm. Marked at six dollars I was lucky enough to score it for merely three thanks to one of the Body Shop’s rather brilliant sales they had recently.

Like the other balms this applies transparently even though it has tiny flecks of gold sparkle in the balm. It tastes like a custard-y vanilla cake or pastry of some sort! It’s quite a pleasant taste and made me curious about other products in the Vanilla Bliss range as if they smell as good as this tastes I’ll be a vanilla convert!

The dome shape swipes easily across lips and has a balm-y texture and finish that I’ve likened to chap stick. It’s not glossy or shiny but does give lips a nice hydrating feel and lips feel softer after it has long since worn away.

I’ve glad I purchased these for myself as I find they make an excellent balm for carrying around with me when I’m not in the mood for touching up my lipstick or gloss.

They make an excellent little stocking stuffer as well!

Available from The Body Shop.

Anyone haul any of them yet?

Thoughts?

Do share!

I purchased this item.

I have the hand lotion, I bought it for the same reason you like the scent…smells like vanilla pudding or custard.

  • katie

Ooh! I just got the cranberry and ginger ones. I wish I saw the vanilla. It sounds lovely!

      • katie

I really like them! The little pots are so cute too. I bought them because of you. I do everything the muse tells me to do!

        • the Muse

lol katie yes my minion! *pats your head* now we take OVER THE WORLD! mwahhaaaa! jk! 😀 I’m glad you like them chica!!!!!!!!!

  • Janita

    I’ve got the ginger one!

I must say, even though the gold flecks don’t “show up” as such on application, the balm does give my lips a bit of sheen/glossiness (almost like putting a highlighter on my lips) so it’s a win for me!

That was a great clip Muse! Thanks so much for sharing it! I am *that* old haha. I was a teenager in the 70’s and Led Zep, The Stones (Some Girls album), Pink Floyd, Van Halen (Running with the Devil), Ramones (I wanna be sedated), AC DC, Cheap Trick (I want you to want me)…etc. That music was the soundtrack to my slacker angst filled early teen years lol. But then I changed and really got into the new wave with blondie, the police, U2, psychedelic furs, and soft cell.

Those guys are my Mom and Dad’s age. My parents were teens when they had me so my early years were filled with R&R, R&B, from the 60’s. Joplin, Hendrix…etc. I get a kick when my kids tell me to play some old school and they are talking about Nirvana or Luthur Vandross haha!

Thanks again for the trip down memory lane sweetie! I love your blog <3

katros I WISH I could lay claim to being a teen of the 70’s. My sister says I was born in completely the wrong era ;-D I lived off of the stones, floyd, the Ramones, and allllllllllll the others you listed (don’t forget Twisted Sister!) Some of my youth was def dedicated to blondie, u2, etc thanks to my sister who’s a decade older than me ;-D Much of my twenties was spent with Hendrix/Joplin/Van Morrison, etc…I think Zepplin automatically evolves into the acid trip tunes of the 60’s somehow ;-D Oh god now I feel old as Nirvana was my teen years and your kids are calling it old school??? *head desk* lol! good times. love ya right back girl! thanks for tripping out with me ;D

  • Vanesa

OMG Muse! The Doctor, Being Human UK and now Led Zeppelin? You are my long lost sister 🙂 🙂 (way creepy of me, I know)
Back to the make up – I love vanilla in any type of product, but since we have no Body shop here I’ll have to order online. I like their lemon balm, too bad you have to pick it up with fingers.

    • the Muse

lol vanessa ;-D brilliant! that’s why I love running this site, always meeting new people who have similiar interest! can’t WAIT for BH to return! aaw boo sorry to hear it! perhaps evil bay?!

Hi Muse–Again, love your post w/good ol’ rock’n roll-sure does put a smile on my face! Have you seen or heard anything about the new DVD/CD released of their last concert? I think it is called ‘Celebration Day’-thinking about getting it for my hubby for Xmas.

    • the Muse

mine too michelle mine too ;-D It’s been out since mid November. They have a few LE packaging versions available as well as deluxe editions. I’m positive your hub will love! If you buy it on amazon with your discover card they’ll give you one day shipping free!

  • Susan K

This reminds me of Lancome’s baume braiser in marshmellow from mystery game collection. It took me a year of checking Ebay & Amazon before I finally found one! lol I’ll check this out while out Christmas shopping today, love vanilla anything.

  • Danielle

I THINK one of the very last notes in Diesel Loverdose is vanilla. Its the perfect vanilla though, not overpowering, not artificial or overly sweet. It smells the way vanilla should: tasty!

  • GK

I’m looking for a new lip balm. Most of them make my lips dry & itchy, not what I want in a balm! I will give this a try.

  • Michelle from MI

Hey Muse–You were an inspiration! Went to Best Buy & got a good price on the blu-ray box set “Celebration Day’. Watched a few YouTube clips of the concert-looks awesome. I remember when they did that concert & I so wished I could have seen it–I’m sure you felt the same way!Love your blog-keep up the great ol’ rock’n roll comments.

    • the Muse

  • Miss D

Just saw this post today…I’m a little behind on your posts! XD I too saw Zeppelin on David Letterman the other night, and though they’re older, they’re still adorable (I absolutely love Jimmy Page and Robert Plant). You are so right girl- I’m just about a year or two younger than you and as much as I like some of the “newer” music out now, people just don’t make music like that anymore. And, just as importantly, musicians nowadays don’t look anything like the hotties they had back in the days that our moms probably liked *sigh*.

    • the Muse

hey miss d! ;-D true dat, old but still adorable ;-D I am so tired of hearing taylor swift on the radio lol…I dunno, I really can’t say there’s many mainstream singers or bands I actually LIKE today. I listen to more k-pop than anything else lately ;-D agreed le sigh!
