Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color Swatches

Wet n Wild 2013 Megalast Liquid Lip Color has launched at drugstores for Spring 2013 in thirteen different shades.

I did a few swatches of the ones I picked up at Harmons recently and a review is on the way. I think you’re going to be blown away by these swatches but as cheap as these are I urge you to wait for my review prior to indulging as so far my testing has been going rather badly.

These are SUPER duper pigmented, very thick, very creamy, and yes, very long wearing. However, I’ve run into a few issues with them so far so you might want to wait to grab them. I’ll be reviewing them next week after a bit more testing. I did do these swatches as a little sneak peek since all this pigment excited the hell out of me. Just wish the formula was a little more friendlier…!

High Pitched Wine, Raisin’ the Roof, Cherry on Top, Pocketful of Roses, Red My Mind, Coral Me Bad

Tried ’em?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

My review is upcoming shortly!

amazing shade all of them but they are soul sucking dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m testing them now and just so disappointed!

      • Icequeen81

that is bad 🙁 I had one rimmel bla bla lasting ( don’t remember the name) was drying and had dry spots here and there and left residue’s of liquid lipstick here and there it looks just soooo unpolished.

          • Icequeen81

that peel and crack is so hideous, that is so bad 🙁 and also I think there are a few shades that would work for me. Only high pitch Wine does look fine there rest look like shimmery not my thing.

I put a light coat on under my regular lip color and it prolongs my color all day

Argh…I thought so too. It’s GORGEOUS! BUT…I shoulda waited for the review. I fell in love with the color and had to grab it. Tried it out and was sooo sad. Beautiful color but it dries down and makes your lips feel like the Sahara, then it almost immediately starts to crack, peel, and flake. You cant even add a gloss over the top because it just makes the cracking worse and will remove the color altogether. Yup, I shall be returning this one. I hope they come out with a regular gloss in this exact shade. I’d run out and grab it in a heart beat.

All the reviews I have seen so far have been quite negative. They seem to be a throwback to the old fashioned long wear lip formula. Lots of complaints about dryness, weird texture, peeling and cracking, etc.

      • Ruth

that stinks because some of those colors are really pretty. that’s OK, i need more lip products like another hole in my head (consoling self).

        • the Muse

the colors are amazing!!!!!!!!! possible dupes for Chanel dragon even but the formula ugh!

  • Colleen

Raisin’ the Roof is gorgeous, but it’s terribly disappointing to hear of the bad formula.

  • tiny

what if you were to try a moisturizing balm under them, then a very thin layer? just throwing out ideurrs.. That sucks.

  • Gussie

They’re so gorgeous. . . I await the review though. At the price, I might just buy one to play around with. Maybe a balm will help? Here’s hoping.

  • Danii

Oh well. I already have a nice liquid lipstick I’m in love with (NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream) and want something lighter and glossy (a dupe of MAC’s Russian Red lipglass basically ~ )

  • Mahsa

Whenever I hear about long lasting lipstick or gloss I just think DRY 🙁 its so sadas those colours especially rasin’ the roof and pocketful of roses are stunning 🙁 I don’t understand when revlon can make an amazing long lasting balm why can’t these colours/products be improved xx thank you for the swatches xx

  • Trish

I tried these over a thin coat of aquaphor lip repair (my HG lip balm) and just use a thin layer of the liquid lip color over it and it holds up really well. No drying or cracking yet. But I think if you have issues with chapped lips this probably isn’t the lip color for you. I do love the beautiful array of shades and the fact that they don’t taste icky or weird. My favorite color is Coral me Red…my perfect red!!

I saw these today in Walgreens and I was super excited. Too bad I didn’t see this blog post before buying one! I got one of the ones you swatched (cannot remember the name now – I may have blocked it from memory due to lipgloss trauma!). Beautiful color and yes, so very DRY. It was pure lip torture. I even applied my L’oreal HIP jelly balm on top of it and my lips still felt horrible. I am so bummed as the colors are beautiful. 🙁 I almost want to pay Walgreens to take it back. Now, that would just be silly.. but that shows how much I detested it. And I’m an easy-going lippie lover. I am not that picky. But oh boy…

anne, I haven’t reviewed them yet as I’ve been testing them for several days and I experienced the same. gorgeous, gorgeous colors and quite long wearing but OMG the dryness….it sucks the moisture right from your lips and MAN they are SO hard to remove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anne

Raisin’ the roof! That was the color. So sad.. so beautiful.. yet a formula so wrong on so many levels. If someone can figure out how to wear these without your lips shriveling.. please let me know. 😉

I’ve been able to make them work for me! I actually really like them, especially since I’m spending a lot of long days at school. I recently made a post about how I use them.

  • Sarah Chicago

I have the solution!!!! I bought one, tried it, was horrified, and then decided I wanted to take it back. BUT THEN! I tried it one more time for kicks and giggles. Apply it like a gloss, but don’t touch your lips to anything (or close your mouth) for about a minute. Then it becomes a smooth stain!

I think the reason people aren’t liking it is because they are treating it like a lipgloss! I’m actually going to go and buy more now that I know how to use it! 🙂

  • Michelle

Bought one of these yesterday & it maybe one of the worst I’ve ever tried!!

  • Cat

I actually liked it, it’s liquid LIP color and it’s not meant as a gloss..it really does last all day. I’m usually into more high end make up and almost never buy drugstore make up until one of my friends recommended this. I do not have an issue with chapped lips as I stay hydrated, use a lip scrub, and treat them daily.

First off, here’s some advice: Almost all make up (not counting foundation) can be made “good make up” using the right combinations. The right primer or base can work wonders. With this lipstick, applying them without a base WILL make your lips appear dry so use a good lip balm or primer before applying Wet n Wild’s megalast liquid lip color.

I usually never use gloss since I find it sticky and unecessary, however this lip color dries extremely matte so if that’s not what you’re going for, I would apply a VERY small amount of gloss to brighten the color a bit (any of your fav. brands of gloss will do)…depending on how your gloss mixes with this lip color, it can impact how long it will last. Some glosses are very liquid-y and will cause our lip color to wear off fast!

For me, I use “Sugar” lip balm as a base and apply this on top, I do not apply gloss but this combination allows my lips to feel less dry when using the product and the final result is pretty much perfect!

these were the worst makeup purchase i’ve made in a while…maybe ever! SO SO dry and uncomfortable to wear. they can be salvaged my using a tiny bit on your lips as a stain, but i don’t think they are worth the extra effort. i bought 4 of these and they are all going back.

  • Dr. Jessica Tuttle

Aww I’m bummed they are so drying. I was excited when I saw the rich pigment too.

  • shelby

These can be really dry but after messing around with them a bit, I found a way to make them work for me. I just did a post about it if that would interest anyone. For the price, colour, opaqueness and longevity, I didn’t want to give up on these!
