Yes to Grapefruit Brightening Skincare & Dark Spot Treatment Collection

Yes to Grapefruit has a new Brightening and Dark Spot Treatment Collection for Spring 2013. I’ve been seeing a variety of trends for Spring 2013 and I’m sure one of them that will be back this year is dark spot and brightening skincare products.

Last year we saw a huge increase in the brightening skincare market as well as dark spot treatments. This incredible boost in the market was met by great excitement for those of that have turned to Asian skincare products for many years to brighten our skin. Finally the US market is catching up! Dark Spot Treatment are also blown out of the water this year with both mainstream drugstore picks as well as higher end ones launching all around the board. So far my personal favorite has been from Philosophy!

I’d be highly interested to give Yes to Grapefruit’s new collection a try though as it is a good deal more affordable.

Hmmm, do you think this will be OK to use for people who can’t eat grapefruit? There’s a lot of different medications that don’t let you have it unfortunately.

    • deliah

Pixie, this *should* be fine for you to use. The reason you can’t eat grapefruit is because the enzymes in your liver that metabolize your medication are the same ones that metabolize grapefruit, and they will attach to the grapefruit first. Your liver only produces so many of them and at a steady rate, so you can’t just ‘make more’ to compensate. Then the medication can’t be metabolized to leave your body and will build up, becoming potentially toxic. The small amount of grapefruit in the product, when absorbed by your skin, would most likely not even reach your liver, therefore not posing any threat to blood levels of drug in your system. If you want to make absolutely sure, ask your pharmacist for their professional opinion.

If that dark circle eye cream does anything I’d be thrilled and I almost definitely will buy it to find out.
I currently use yes to blueberries wipes, and they’re nice and make me feel good, but i haven’t noticed changes with them.

  • Tigress

Ooh, this is exciting! I love this line – cruelty free and affordable. I’m interested in the dark spot correcting serum.

  • kitten

  • Dory

  • Tiffany Martin

Eeep! I LOVE Yes to Carrots! And I love grapefruit! And I need a new moisturizer! It’s a perfect fit! Must haul ASAP!!

  • Marta

I’m an avid fan of Yes to cucumbers (until I found their moisturizer, I didn’t know I had skin allergies and just assumed everyone’s face got red after using a facial cream lol). To this day, I’m still looking for an eye cream that my skin doesn’t react to (cucumbers has an eye gel, but I need something heavier), but I’m wary of this, as one of the thinks I react to is either vit C or the citrusy smell that comes in creams that have it.
So I am literally crossing my fingers for this !

  • Nancy

Excited to try the dark circle correcting cream – I love the smell of pink grapefruit.

  • K.B.

Yes to (hah!) the eye cream and I might check out the wipes and the facial scrub. I’m obsessed with the cucumber wipes, and since I use my Clarisonic 5-6 times a week (and the ExfoliKate once a week) exfoliating wipes and/or a facial scrub (which sounds like something to use in the a.m.?) might be a little too much.

I’m glad they’re branching out, though. I keep meaning to check out the Tomato line, but whenever I’m in the store, I forget to do so.

  • LINDARRAGNAR

ohhh these sound great!!!!!! I love the yes to cucumber and these will be great to try, I bet the wipes won’t really whiten as well as the serum, but I do need some more wipes!!

    thanks for sharing!!

  • Amy Amethyst

I want to try the scrub! I’ve been searching for a new one since I’m getting close to using up what I have now. I wonder if my bf will like the scent? He’s always saying the scrubs I use on him stink. haha Even though they don’t!

  • Xica

Well, I just bought the dark spot correcting serum today. Therefore, this is my initial review only.

PROS: the packaging is great, it comes in a good size pump.
A little product goes a long way
It dries quickly and isn’t sticky, leaving the skin smooth
CONS: sometimes the pump gets crazy and releases too much product
MIXED: the smell–it’s not bad or good…it does have a mild smell to grapefruit but there’s also another scent that make it smell weird….not horrible just wished it smelled more like grapefruit…

Overall, it’s too soon to judge but I must say I love this line and I’m excited to see how this works!! 🙂

    • the Muse

thanks xica! so helpful! I hope it works on your dark spots ;-D I personally can’t wait to try it!

  • Melissa

I love the Say Yes To Cucumbers wipes and eye cooling gel, so I am very excited for this new line of products. I’m really interested in the dark spot corrector, serum and moisturizer! Looks like a haul is in order lol
