Bare Minerals Loud & Clear Lip Sheer Review & Swatches

As you know Bare Minerals launched three Loud & Clear Lip Sheers with their new Remix Collection for Spring 2013. Loud & Clear Lip Sheer is a sweet little tinted lip balm that quite reminds me of one my favorite vintage products from Bare Minerals, the Lip Bud.

Unsure how many folks remember the Lip Bud but it was very similiar to the Loud & Clear Lip Sheers and I stock piled them all crazy-like and still have one lonely one left. Needless to say the introduction of these new Lip Sheers was met with much excitement by yours truly.

Let’s take a look!

Although my Lip Bud looks a little larger both products actually house the same 0.07 oz of product. I think they are a kindly $15 and I would happily buy more of them if Bare Escentuals choose to do new shades. I’m unsure if these are limited edition and I’d like to think they aren’t because they are fabulous little balms well worth picking up.

Lip Bud Released several years ago

These are a tinted lip balm that have a translucent appearance in the tube. They apply with the barest hint of color but enough color that you can see it on lips. I love natural tinted lip balms that give the appearance of just the right amount of color without overdoing things. These give exactly that sort of finish. It’s not necessarily an MLBB (my lips but better) look but it is natural and fresh so you can tell you have something on your lips but not exactly what that something might be…”is it tinted? Or is that her natural lip color?”

These have a comfortably lightweight balm-y texture on my lips. They provide a decent bit of moisture through the first application and well into the wear of three to four hours. They glide onto lips with a soft, smooth, buttery texture and providing not only a hint of tint but also a very lovely bit of shine. They have a really fresh and exciting tangerine scent and taste. I absolutely loved it. It’s pretty strong and remains flavorful through the wear. The flavor reminds me of one of those old school frozen orange ice pops.

If you love tinted lip balm products I know these will find a way into your stashes and heart.

I loved ’em.

Overall, an excellent way to get a bit of color and shine on lips while keeping them soft, smooth, and hydrating.

I wondered about these. I was thinking they may be like Clinique’s Almost Lipstick? Yes? No? I’m glad to hear you like them!

Have you tried any of the new Lancome Baume in Loves? I got Urban Ballet, the neon pink one, and it’s AWESOME. Wish it wasn’t LE.

    • the Muse

not yet hoping to pick up the blushes and baumes shortly havent’ had a chance to hit the counter ;-D

      • Tammie

I didn’t really swatch the blushes so I can’t say (I immediately was drawn to the Baumes lol, translucent neon lip products are my kryptonite) but I think you will looooove the Baumes though I can only vouch for Urban Ballet, I dunno how much the other colors (especially the light pink) will show up, but Urban Ballet surprised me.

I have the berry one and I love it. I usually want more color but this is nice for days I want to go more natural. Love the scent too.

Thanks for the review! Was waiting to grab a couple until I read your thoughts on moisture factor!

Berry Remix reminds me of canned cranberry sauce, I don’t know why!

Are these any similar to the Clinque Almost Lipsticks, by any chance? Great swatches!

Ooh! I feel like I haven’t seen a “Muse Approved” product in a while. I’ll have to take a look; tangerine flavored is what got me!

I was able to resist the holiday goodies, but dang it.. I love a balm, especially a good one.

I loved the original Lip Bud. I think I still have one myself, somewhere; now I’ll have to look for it. (Although it may have been tossed with the last lipstick purge???)

The only thing that has me a little worried IS the tangerine flavor/fragrance. Sometimes anything with citrus or mango makes my lips chap. I don’t remember the original lip bud having a fragrance or taste. Is that the only difference that you have found?

Other than my initial recoil to a srong fragrance/taste – these look absolutely lovely.

someone that remembers lip bud bless be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-D I didn’t want to toss my last one…;-D it’s so gorgeous but I prob shouldn’t use it since it is aging lol! they are actually nothing like lip bud aside from the looks…they have a slicker feel that the original lip bud something mentioned they are like clinique barely lipstick and that’s quite spot on ;-D they def have a strong taste/scent though 🙁

I swatched them on my wrist and saw zero color at all but maybe i’ll give the tangerine a try — they are super, super sheer that’s for sure.

    • the Muse

you have to apply a few layers lisa and color will show through but yes, they are sheer ;-D it’s more natural color

  • Lisette

These look like the Apivita lip care with pomegranate which I love. I will have to give them a try.

I was an avid Lip Bud and Lippie user, which shade of the Loud & Clear do you find is the closest? I’m mourning the loss of my last Lip Bud and I would love to know your take on what’s closest!

I loved the Lip bud color by BE. Do you happen to have a picture of the sticker on the bottom or the bar code on the box? I contacted Bare Ecsentuals to request that they bring this color back. They requested a product number since the item has been discontinued for so long. I am hoping someone has a picture of the bar code. Thanks!
