Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Review

Clear Scalp Hair Beauty Therapy1

I’ve been using Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy for about a week now. As you know I challenged myself to a seven day run with Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner. My hair is long, wavy, plenty of curl, some frizz, and dryness. I typically like to avoid silicones in my haircare because they weight my hair down however, my longer, wavier hair definitely craves them from time to time.

The science behind CLear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy is an interesting one has it’s not about the hair but your scalp. The system was created to strength hair but also nourishes your scalp therefore starting at the foundation of your hair, feeding both your locks and scalp which in turn produces stronger, more beautiful hair.

Many of you had already tried the shampoos and conditioners and had some really positive things to say about the line in my original post so I decided to try them out.

Here’s some of my experience with the products.

There’s actually several different formulations available from dry, frizzy hair to color treated. I probably would be best suited for the dry hair formulation but I ended up drying the Damage & Color Repair formula. It’s a color safe formula (even though my hair isn’t dyed) which cleanses and nourishes the scalp. It’s formulated with Nutrium 10 which is a great moisture complex filled with vitamins and nutrients.

Considering the formula restores moisture I think I was safe testing this out on my non-color treated hair.

I think if you purchase really high end stuff at the drugstore like Nexus, Tigi, etc…you can easily get away with swapping on for Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy as the products have a higher end formula and results with a lower price tag of around $3.99 to $4.99 depending where you purchase.

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a thick texture with a strong fresh floral scent. They scent lingers well after the washing and is very pleasant to my nose. They both rinse clean away for me without over stripping my hair or creating any dryness. For the week that I used them I noticed I had less hair loss and shedding than I typically do with my normal round of Lush Shampoos. I did read a few negative comments saying there was some hair loss using these but I didn’t experience that for myself, my hair if anything, seemed to stop with its normal shedding during my week long test.

Clear Scalp Hair Beauty Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner

My hair was softer after use as well as super shiny however, my frizz seemed to remain which is why I want to try out the Frizz Control formula as I’m hoping it’ll tame some of my frizzy curls. It is a water based formula so it delivers a good deal of moisture to my scalp and hair without creating dryness or flakiness. If anything my hair felt much softer.

It did cause some build up but not nearly as much as I thought it would. I’m prone to build up when I’m using regular shampoos and conditioners but a quick rinse with a clarifying shampoo deals with the problem easily.

Overall, I had a fairly good experience with these products and so far, over the course of several days of use I’m seeing softer, easy to manage hair with a ton of shine. I’m going to pick up the Frizz Control Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner and test that out next.

Do feel free to share your results if you tried them out.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Ohhh I want to try this. I need a good shampoo for my dyed hair!

My hubby uses the Men’s version. He has a really dry scalp and used to use a Neutrogena medicated shampoo. He also tried other “higher end” shampoos that were supposed to help. After one bottle of Clear his scalp is flake free and very healthy. Would definitely recommend this brand.

I also read numerous reviews that complained of really excessive hair loss and it honestly scared the bejeezus out of me! I’m still a bit wary of it, but I might give it a try at some point…

if anything I had less dory…I read a few as well that said they experienced shedding, but thankfully I didn’t experience the same ;-D

I am using total care one and so far it is pretty good. I have very fine, straight hair and oily scalp so it is very hard to find shampoo and conditioner that do not weigh my hair down. If I do find something that does not grease up my hair, then it tends to make my hair tangle and not smooth. First week of using this product, I was in love because it made my hair kept its freshness, smell (lol), and smoothness, but not weighing my hair down. But after a week, I guess my hair got used to the product (who knows lol) so I cannot seem to experience two-day-lasting freshness and smell (no shampoo makes my hair like this for even 12 hrs), but it still works longer than the other products I have used.

Anyways, MUSE!!! I just wanted to thank you for sharing tons of information!! It really helped me a lot ever since I started visiting your blog!!!! Thank you and very looking forward to see your upcoming posts!!

    • 1/24/13 9:09 the Muse:

sara I love the scent too, it lingers and lingers and lingers ;-D I’ve had nice results but a bit of buildup with it so I clarify once a week after using but so far really like it. It adds good weight to my locks which means a little less friz and men tons of SHINE! ;-D Aw thank YOU sara! I’m so glad you’re enjoying Musings <3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1/24/13 3:25 Katie:

I’ve been using this for around half a year now without problem and after reading your review, I immediately used my Neutrogena clarifying shampoo. Thanks for the paranoia, Muse!

    • 1/24/13 9:09 the Muse:

oops sorry katie! Weekly clarifying treatment is always a good idea ;-D maybe it didn’t cause you any buildup though? I imagine it varies from hair to hair ;D

  • 1/24/13 8:57 Stacey:

Ahh~ Really want to try that! Don’t think it’s in Hong Kong yet… Btw Muse, how do you tell whether you hair/scalp has build up?

    • 1/24/13 9:06 the Muse:

hi stacey! typically feels very heavy, greasy, lackluster, and not clean. It differs for everyone’s hair type but that’s how I feel and know when I have build up. As soon as my hair is clarified it’s much softer, lightweight, has a squeaky clean feel to it.

  • 1/24/13 9:31 Caitlin:

I had a sample of these, and I loved the shampoo. It has a really creamy lux lather. So nice. I didn’t care for the strong scent, though.

  • 1/24/13 11:10 Julie:

I love the shampoos and conditioners! I think they’re the best for my hair. I’ve been using these for a few months now. I don’t get as much shedding and my fine, thin hair has actually filled in. It is MUCH less prone to breakage as well. Also, now I only need to use the conditioner maybe once a week. The shampoo alone is enough for my hair most of the time. It’s interesting to me what some of you say about the scent. To me, it is not a strong scent. I feel there are many other shampoos that have a much stronger scent than these.

  • 1/24/13 11:30 Jade:

I ran the other direction when this came out, so many budget shampoo and conditioners leave build up on my hair like you wouldn’t believe! It becomes totally unmanagable, wiry, dull, YUCK. I feel like a sap forking out for Redken (damn it’s good though!).

  • 1/24/13 18:56 blueraccoon:

My biggest problem with this line is that it uses SLS in its shampoo, and for some reason sulfates in shampoo irritate my scalp. I can use them in body washes and face washes without a problem, but I try to avoid them in my shampoo. So the line’s a pass for me.

Hey Muse! I just started using Wen & I’m in love! I saw u did a review on the Mango Coconut one, do u still use Wen? I would think it would do wonders for your frizz/curls, it does so great on my frizzy/wavy hair and leaves it so soft and shiny as hell. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to regular shampoo with sulfates again! U should review more Wen if u ever get around to it. Right now, I’ve tried the tea tree & sweet almond mint. I have pomegranate & lavendar to try once I run out of the 2 I have. Anyway, u should post a pic of ur hair down ( if u haven’t already) I’ve only ever seen pics of u with the headband! I bet u have pretty hair :-)

    • 1/25/13 9:20 the Muse:

hi christi yup still use wen and really like it :) I’ve done a few reviews on it in the past christi. It really does soften my hair and lessens frizz, def love it. typically I’m heading to work or to bed when I do a review thus the headband, just the quickest way to get my hair out of my face and get on with my day (or off with it :)

      • 1/25/13 18:16 christi:

Well u still look beautiful, headband or not! I totally understand, believe me, my hair is usually in a messy bun lol. I’ll have to look for your other Wen reviews, I only saw the Mango Coconut one. It is so expensive, but I did recently find a great deal on qvc for four 16 oz bottles for $84, which is pretty damn good. Even after S&H and tax (which is how QVC gets u) it was like $95, which is still a great deal.

i tried the conditioner for this line and loved the way my hair felt after the first time i used it, but it wasnt as amazing when i used it the day.

what are your favorite drugstore and high end clarifying shampoos muse? i think i need to pick one up

    • 1/25/13 9:19 the Muse:

hi julie! I actually like baby shampoo to clarify hehe ;-D weird it it seems to work! I typically rely on Lush antiphilitron for clarifying, it’s amazings!

    • 1/25/13 12:46 Tammie:

Just wanted to chime in that I use the Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo, it comes in a huuuuge bottle for like $3 and it works like a charm. I only use it weekly though rather than daily.

  • 1/25/13 16:50 Danii:

I know clarifying shampoo would rip the purple (and underlying pink) as well as my teal streaks from my hair, plus I don’t know what’s in the other color-safe shampoos I’ve used so I wouldn’t know if the silicone would be an issue or not! I DO want to try it though. It seems like it can work, maybe. Don’t want to ruin my pretty purple and teal locks!

My boyfriend and I decided to try the Dandruff one. I have psoriasis and after just one use, my scabbies are much less!

If I could give this product negative 5 stars, I would.
Like many other reviewers, at first I thought I really liked the shampoo and conditioner. My hair was softer, shinier and more manageable. And I liked the clean smell.
Then my hair started looking oily, yet dry and damaged.
Then the hair loss began. For the past 5 weeks, (1 week after I started using these products) my hair has been falling out in clumps when showering, filling my hairbrush and I can run my fingers through my hair and literally pull out handfuls without applying any pressure with my fingers. My hair is everywhere! My car, clothes, dryer lint trap, vanity, floors and furniture. (I can run my hand across my couch and gather a handful.)
Everyone can tell and my hair had been very thick and healthy.
Like many others, I have been to 2 doctors and had numerous blood test done to see what may have been wrong.
I am thankful I decided to check out reviews on these products tonight! Since all blood work was normal, I feel confident I have diagnosed the problem here.
I pray my hair grows back in after discontinuing use of this garbage.
I plan to return the bottles to the store for a refund and contact the company to let them know how disgusted I am that they continue to sell this crap, knowing full well it is causing hair loss for so many.

    • 11/25/13 14:40 ilea:

I too have had severe hair loss. At first I thought it was my medication or stress. I had several costly blood tests..TWICE and everything is normal. Then I realized my hair didn’t start falling out until I used this crap!! I will be going back to my usual shampoo and writing a letter to the company about this!!

My daughter and I both suffered horrific hair loss using this product. We only used it for a month. It has taken a year for our heads to recover. We both went to the doctors to make sure it wasn’t something else. Our doctor mentioned that 3 other patients of his had this happen to them as well. I was completely bald on both sides of my temple. I am curious why it happens to so many and then does nothing to other people.
