Etude House Princess Etionette Heart Blusher Review & Swatches

I’ve been playing around with my Etude House Princess Etionette Heart Blusher for the past few weeks and decided to review them today. These are a darling, limited edition release from Korean brand, Etude House for the Holidays.

As you can see from this post and some of my prior posts, it’s the darling packaging the blush comes in that really seals the deal. With a swoon worthy jar and little conversation heart piece blushes what’s not to love about this entire presentation?

As gorgeous as it is I fear a bad review upcoming…!

Go ahead…buy it because it’s sweet, buy it because you want to display on your vanity, buy it because you’re a complete packaging whore…don’t buy it because of the quality of the blush though.

I had a friend purchase both shades from Korea for me on the original launch. It comes in an orange and a pink variation both of which having graduating shades of hearts in three separate shades. You get ten shades per blush, a puff for application, and a cute little jar to hold them in.

The hearts are very delicate so depending where you buy them I do urge you to ask for extra padding and shipping material so they don’t break on the way overseas. They are a thick cut heart so they are about the size of a conversation heart candy in size but not in thickness….they’d be more like placing two conversation hearts on top of each other to obtain the thickness of each blusher heart size.

Each color has a graduating shade selection that contains a glow shade, a pigmented blush shade, and a highlighter shade of sorts. The shades are supposed to combine to create a glowing, highlighted finish.

I find them very difficult to work with. With the included puff they don’t yield very much color, plus the color that does get on the puff ends up applying patchy. I decided I’d swirl a kabuki in them and try applying this way. This does yield good color onto the blush but the lightest shade heart tends to drown out the pigmented one resulting in a very sheer layer of color on cheeks. Honestly? The best way to get color on your cheeks is taking a heart, swiping it across your cheeks, and blending out with the puff or your fingers….otherwise, you’re not getting color at all using any of the methods I described above.

Sigh.

I hate to be such a Debbie Downer as I expect with this sort of packaging you’d want a huge rave. And yes, Etude House gets that big rave for presentation. But the hearts prove frustrating and challenging to work with and end up producing a very sheer, frosty finish sans any color…

Meh.

I’m glad I indulged though….! I’m too much of a packaging whore not to love all over these. Formula is weak but presentation is brilliant.

There are a few various E-bay Sellers that are selling these. One I trust, purchased from in the past, and enjoy working with is Zinoparks. His English is the best but he has reasonable great shipping times, a nice personality, and is trustworthy. I am not affiliated with this seller, merely purchased from him before.

Did you end up purchasing these?

Thoughts?

Do share!

I purchased this item.

When I get some birthday money I think I’ll indulge in the loose powder, then I get the packaging and a good product lol

I read a few reviews for this blusher, and some of the reviews seem to indicate that pink shows up better than the orange, so I’m curious what was your experience?

Was one superior in color payoff?

    • the Muse

either one will show up fine but you literally have to take the darkest shade and rub it on your cheeks and blend it out….that’s the best application…messy but that’s the only way it works :-/

  • Angelic Mariposa

This looks so cute but the fact that there are only 10, the price and difficulty make this a no for me. I got the physicians formula bronzer and like it, wish that made a blush too!!

  • Let

Shame about the application :-(. I ended up purchasing the pink one from Zinopark last week though. He had it for around $25, compared to the orange one which is $10 more.

Also, Muse, a bit OOT, but have you tried the owl blushers or cat highlighters from Holika Holika? I’m kinda curious about them…

    • the Muse

Hi let yay! let me know what you think when it arrives, curious how you feel! I have but haven’t had time to review them…they are a tad frosty but adorable ;-D so I’m in a forgiving mood lol!

      • Let

        I will!

Thanks for your opinion on the Holika Holika stuff! Every review also says they’re kinda frosty. I have to admit that I’m tempted to buy them because they’re adorable 😀

        • the Muse

my pleasure! I can understand the NEED to haul them they really are adorable…! I feel like they are more highlighter than blush but that cat just got me ;D

  • Simone

If PF comes out with a Happy Booster blush, and it actually works well, u could always… throw the PF hearts into the Étude House Princess jar! Lol!

I’d so do that! That Lil jar is just adorable!

      • Simone

I hear you, girl! I’ve got my fingers crossed!
I picked up the bronzer, but they only had in light, and unfortunately it’s about the same color as my skin. Makes for a decent subtle highlighter though.
Today I wore it mixed with WnW’s Mellow Wine, it was quite beautiful! The mix made the purchase worthwhile… Not to mention the hearts. Oh, those cute friggin hearts!

        • the Muse

LOL those hearts are to die for 😉 all is right with the world when makeup is shaped like hearts ;D!

  • Shelby

I bought the heart highlighter off ebay last week, can’t wait to get it. 😀

  • Nat

Love the packaging too but not really a big fan about their blush … I purchased couple of Étude blush when I had 5 hrs of layover at Korean airport last year and let me tell ya, spending time in Étude house was heaven!!! LOVE it there!!!! 🙂

My biggest complaint with Korean Blushes is that they have light pigmentation primarily because Korean skintone is very fair. You are right the packaging is superb, but it did not tempt me.

  • Miss_Silk

TT I’m still buying this for the packaging…I have like…broken blushes that I really like and a couple of them are within the same shade range….so I plan to just stick them all into the container because its cute lol

    • the Muse

It’s great it is refillable as you can take any old blush and pop it in ;D

  • Marta

This world makes no sense! Guerlain keeps packaging their beautiful Meterorites in cardboard boxes, Etude House keeps selling things I’d never buy sober in beautiful packaging. Please let them meet each other at Imats or something.

  • Holika

ridic how little the actual amount of product is. i was also digging for this collection but i see now that its not worth it, especially if youd buy this on ebay for rip offs.. fffz. never, thanks to bloggers like you i know better to not buy products of this line. xD

  • Labrynthe

I have this in coral masquerade! I actually like the product. Works well with my pale yellow skintone ꒰ ◍❛ᴗ❛◍ ꒱

  • Mir

    HI Muse,

was just wondering the price of it in Korea..?
I am also a huge sucker for cute packaging and I know this product will be a dud because I am already quite dark so just looking at prices around thanks!

  • Kathy

According to another review I read, apparently you had to crush the hearts, and you can crush different ones and make your own colours that suit you? I agree, etude house products have the most adorable packaging!

  • Eva Papoutsi

I just ordered the pink hearts blush from ebay… I couldn’t resist the adorable packaging! The color looks great in the pictures and I think I am going to like it for my fairly light skin.. I don’t mind if it’s frosty, in this case it will make a great highlighter! 🙂 But I have so many other blushes waiting to be used anyway, that I will not take the hearts of their plastic container for now! I’d rather empty in the jar all the loose face powder I have to use that up first! It will definitely look good! 😉

  • Laura

Great review! Would you be able to tell me the updated ebay sellers name of Zinopark, as they don’t appear to be under that name on ebay anymore. Thanks!

    • the Muse

that’s the updated name Laura, he’s had that name for a while now, I’m looking at his page right now 🙂 it works fine?!
