Flower Sheer Up Lip Tint Review & Swatches

Flower Sheer Up Lip Tints

Flower Sheer Up Lip Tint is a five shade selection chubby tinted lip pencil recently introduced in Drew Barrymore’s new Flower Collection available exclusively at Walmart.

Yesterday, we were discussing how many brands are doing tinted lip pencils lately. Not to be out done it seems the Flower Makeup Collection is pushing all the right trend buttons from lip pencils like this to BB Creams.

I picked up one shade recently and gave it a whirl!

Here’s some thoughts!

Flower does have a slight disadvantage with their Sheer Up Lip Tints as they are only available in five shades. Right now brands like Covergirl and Revlon are dominating the lip pencil scene due to variety of shades.

Flower Sheer Up Lip Tint

Sheer Up Lip Tints ($7.98) do have a formula all their own though. These aren’t as balm-y a texture as Clinique’s version and have a thinner formula than both Revlon and Covergirl’s versions. I find the texture thinner yet quite pigmented with an opaque finish in the one shade I tried, Dewy Rosy. The color has a sheen but not a super glossy or shiny finish. The lightweight texture is very pleasant on my lips but isn’t terribly hydrating or moisturizing but has a soft, moist feel on my lips that’s very pleasant to wear.

I wasn’t in love with the bright red tomato shade of Dewy Rose in all honesty and a quick glance at the other shades offered it seemed like none really interested me. Shades are an important portion of why or why I would buy something and I find Flower’s shades aren’t flattering for my particular skin tone.

Overall, the texture on these is very nice with full color coverage and a weightless feel. For some reason I did come out of the experience a touch bored…I think the shade selection disappointed me slightly and took some of my excitement out of trying the product out. A few more shades would probably have me raving. Outside of the lack of variety the pencil is very nice and worth checking out particularly if the shades available are “your” colors!

I agree with SusanT – it’s really very pretty on you, although if you don’t feel good it, it’s not worth it.

so do these have any staining to them at all or just a sheer tint that wears away completely? also i can see what you mean about the tone not being made for your skin tone, but it still looked pretty

    • the Muse

nope no staining left for me, wore about four hours, faded around that time, but didn’t leave a stain behind, and thank you 🙂 not so sure tomato red is my color hehe!

Wow!!! I know you don’t like it personally… But I love the smoky eye/bold lip look on you!!! I can pull off a lot when it comes to makeup, but this is always something that never looks quite “right” on me. It’s really a great look for you! You are pulling it off girl haha

    • the Muse

aw thanks Gabriella I’m not so sure ;-D but thank you, you’re too kind!

I haven’t seen the other shades but the formula looks really more my thing than the revlon ones (which I don’t like at all but I may have gotten a shade that makes that worse)

I have to admit that I won’t buy these simply because they are sold at Walmart and I really hate that store.

Secondly, I think this is a very pretty shade but I’ve seen you in better. I know you don’t like really pigmented reds but when you get the right one it is dynamic.

Something about this one on you didn’t “wow” me like usual. Maybe it has too much pink in it without being pink enough. I don’t think that even made sense LOL.

    • the Muse

i agree majick def not my red..;-D too tomato for me! and thanks! I def love a good warm red and think it really compliments when I get it right ;-D

Darling, it seems to me like you can wear any color! But, I understand that it was not to your liking. I wore a red Chanel lipstick on Christmas and felt weird. I usually wear nudes and light pinks. Have I ever seen you in a nude colored lip shade? I don’t enjoy going to Walmart so, I will pass on the lighter shades this line has to offer….

    • the Muse

aw thanks libby! not so sure sometimes haha! I like beiges/peaches def have a dozen nudes I do love ;-D

  • Pat

Wow, your eyes look amazing with that lip color! I really like it on you, it looks great with your coloring.
I am tempted to check these out, thanks for the review.

  • Jaime

I agree that the color is pretty on you, but yeah it’s all about how it makes you feel. <3 I'm having odd mixed feelings about the Flower line. I guess it's affordable enough to warrant a try?

aw thanks jamie, yeah, I think it’s all about how you feel walking out of the house ;-D as for me, I felt foolish, so this might be in home type of wear lol ;-D so far, so good on flower.
