Fortune Cookie Shampoo Bar Review

Loving on Fortune Cookie’s Shampoo Bars at the moment. I actually hauled several of these for my sister’s stocking because she’s a HUGE Lush Godiva girl.

Really, Shampoo Bars aren’t new products. Lush has been doing them for years but it is such a refreshing change to run across an E-tailer who does them in new scents.

The one I have here is Candy Cane Fluff which is a mix of peppermint and marshmallow. Sadly, it was part of Fortune Cookie’s Holiday 2012 Collection and is no longer available but they do have a range of many other scents to choose from. The mix of peppermint and marshmallow is crisp and food-y.

This is a square shaped bar (although the shape varies depending how it is cut) that weights in at around 3 oz. Bars are $8.99 each so quite a good deal cheaper compared to Lush’s own bars.

I imagine the concept of a Shampoo Bar boggles the mind but they are simple to use and extra friendly to travel with. Plus they last heaps longer than a huge bottle of shampoo believe it or not.

To use the bar simply wet your hair, wet the bar, and stroke it across your locks. It creates a ton of lather that foams up and cleanses hair leaving it delicately scented. If suds up just as a liquid shampoo would and cleanses hair just as well!

Here’s a small video Fortune Cookie made showing how you can use it:

As much as I love Lush Shampoo Bars, I really love the variety and scents Fortune Cookie offers and adore the cheaper price tag.

Loves these!

Lush put me off shampoo bars. I tried a few of theirs and they all left my hair feeling stripped out and dry. And, as a bonus, Gentle Lentil left little lentil bits in my hair no matter how carefully I rinsed.

Their Hawaiian ice shampoo bar is amazing!! It leaves my scalp feeling nice and tingly.

What conditioner do you use after these? I just got my bar in a week ago and it smells wonderful and gets my hair squeaky clean. I’ve been using the conditioner bar they sell but it’s just too light for my dry wavy hair. What conditioner do you recommend?

    • the Muse

yeah same here nikki, follow up with the matching conditioner bar but my hair is wavy as well and needs more. I’ve been using Happy Happy Joy Joy lately love the scent (lush)

my pleasure although it lacks silicones so it’s kinda not the most hydrating conditioner in the world but it doesn’t cause build up and creates a certain smoothness, tames frizz…good stuff!

So what scents have you tried? I got something tropical in the shampoo bar and vivid in the conditioner bar. Something tropical is a light pineapple scent that smells lovely wish it was a little stronger. And vivid is one if those yummy scents you can’t stop smelling! It’s so fruity and juicy like fruit punch! I wish I would have got vivid in the shampoo bar 🙂

so far this one and the pineapple one…I did buy my sister like one of each and sniffed them all ;-D I was tempted to steal the unicorn farts one, it smells so nice! vivid smells AMAZING! ;-D I wish they would do some sort of perfume…they have body mists but I prefer an EDT/P of some sort rather than a roll on or a mist.

I like that they’re the same texture as Lush ones, with the little squigglies. i bought a shampoo bar at a craft show and it wasn’t, it was a typical soap. Didn’t like it at all.

I want to try tiny tribute and in the loop! I here a lot of people can’t get enough of in the loop. Have to try that one!

Wow talking about coincidence. I was just looking at the Fortune Cookie website yesterday and thinking about placing an order. This shampoo bar sounds great. I’m going to add it in to my order.
