I have fine lines under my eyes but so far age hasn’t touched my skin. Knock wood. But I do have drier skin so it goes dull a bit if I don’t keep it well moisturized. I depend on BB Cream to keep it lively, fresh, and flawless.
I’m not one for powder simply because I feel to over done with it on and I also feel like my skin tends to shout “Hey, I have makeup on!” when I use a pressed powder due to my flaky, drier areas. I do kinda sorta use it in the Summer and sometimes I set…it’s rare but I do use powder now and again.
Now…as much as I’d like to tell you Maybelline Age Rewind The Perfector Skin Smoothing Powder is perfect for your aging skin I can’t really say that. I tested it on my own skin which isn’t aging so speaking from that stand point I can say, for a drugstore powder, it’s quite nice on my drier, un-lined skin.
This is a dual sided compact which features the powder on level and a sponge applicator and mirror housed in a secondary compartment towards the bottom of the compact. I’d prefer a puff for application not a rubber sponge but this proves handy if you prefer applying your powder wet.
The powder has a swirl of white (the primer portion) and and a colored pigmented powder. Honestly, if you’re a minimalist or you typically rely on powder foundation versus creams you can probably easily use this as a foundation of sorts as it does build fairly easily and should be pigmented enough to ease darkness, minor imperfections, and redness.
It didn’t cling to my flaky cheeks and applied visibly smooth and evenly on my dry skin. I have large pores around my nose and it blurred the appearance of them quite nicely. I was a little worried the white primer portion of the powder would go pasty on my skin but it actually blended well with the pigmented portion of the palette. The powder is finely milled, quite silky, and has a lightweight feel and finish on skin with some mattifying properties to soak up excess oil or shine.
The shade I tried was FAR too light for my skin tone (Fair) so I might just indulge in another shade in the Summer when I am more likely to use powder.
Overall, if you’re looking for a setting powder slash foundation powder this perfected quite well. It had a fairly decent wear time of around four to five hours, offered minor mattifying properties, and didn’t cling to drier areas. It perfected skin, set makeup, and overall, gave a nice smooth, flawless finish to my skin. At $9.99, it’s a decent budget pick!
