NYX Wonder Pencil for Spring 2013

NYX Wonder Pencil is a new nude multitasking pencil for Spring 2013 that acts in a variety of ways to create a more brighter appearance.

Take a peek!

NYX Wonder Pencil can be used to conceal and brighten. Use it to hide blemishes, as an eyeliner at the water line to brighten eyes, or as a lip liner to prevent your favorite lip color from feathering.

This matte pencil is available in three shade selections:

  • Light Tone
  • Medium Tone
  • Deep Tone

This launches this January at NYXcosmetics.com

I know some of you are infatuated with these nude pencils so this should be a nice budget pick at a mere $4.50.

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes. I get red-rimmed eyes from allergies and not enough sleep, and nude pencils are a lifesaver! Hopefully NYX has a good one!

  • Tammie

Might have to try it just because it’s cheap and the pixi one though supposedly waterproof almost immediately melted off of my water line 🙁

  • Nanalouu

Waaaaaant!!!! I’ve been looking for a peach liner for so long.. Stila’s is too creamy for my waterline. Just wondering though, do you think it’d be safe to put it on the waterline if the formula is meant to conceal blemishes and prevent feathering as well?

      • amy

I have one from MUFE, and it can be used for all those things, and the waterline. The one from MUFE is double-ended, and I use the lighter side for my waterline & the darker end to even out my lipline, so I’d imagine these would be safe as well.

I was considering a mac chromagraphic pencil, for more than $10 less I’ll go with this…

$4.50?! If these are a valid replacement for my MAC Chromagraphic (NC15/NW20) and NARS Rue Bonaparte pencils, I may well weep for joy! Hopefully a review will be forthcoming!

I’ve been contemplating a NYX online purchase for a while, since I *need* the Taupe blush, but I could never justify shipping for one item. That said, I’m seeing a serious NYX haul in the near future…

Wow. What a great color selection. This is like the Hard Candy Glamoflage 🙁

    • TwirlyGirly

Actually, Hard Candy recently added two more “in between” shades to the Glamoflage line…so now there are five shades to choose from!

      • Mary

I had a feeling someone would reply with that but I meant darker shades for women of color.

        • TwirlyGirly

That’s definitely a MAJOR omission on their part, I agree! I’ve yet to figure out the reasoning behind so many cosmetics companies choosing to ignore such a large part of the population. Doesn’t seem like it benefits their bottom line.

          • amy

I don’t think NYX “omitted” any skintone. When you factor in the primary purpose of these pencils, to be an “eye brightener”, it really makes no sense to have it come in a deeper brown shade. I think NYX, of *all* companies, is probably the most accomodating across the spectrum when it comes to face & complexion products, and if it’s a concealer that’s needed, they likely already have one available.

As for Hard Candy Glamoflage, the “Fair” is a joke… I actually held it next to the “Medium”, and there was no difference detectable to the naked eye.

Amy that’s a little ridiculous to say! I love NYX, and use their products very pften, so im not hating pn NYX, just to hate.
however, I’m biracial NC44 in the summer… I would probably use the darkest shade available, and im not nearly as dark a a vast number of people. They need to add at least 2 to 3 more shades for a lot people to be able to use this product. At least.

All I’m saying is that, of all the brands on the mainstream market, from what I’ve seen on the shelves alone, NYX is probably one of the most diverse in terms of covering both ends of the spectrum. I don’t believe they are intentionally leaving out anyone. However, as an “eye brightener”, deeper shades just don’t make sense, as most people, regardless of skintone, tend to use lighter shades. I agree as a “3-in-1” pencil, there will be some tones that are left out, but I don’t believe NYX is just ignoring any group. Perhaps they’ll develop a pencil-type concealer in the future if there’s a call for it?

        • Simone

I agree that they probably aren’t intentionally leaving anyone out! I use their foundation, and it’s one of the only DS brands that have my skin tone! Love them for that!
However, Even if they didn’t do it intentionally, they did leave many dark skinned men and women out. Even just as an eye brightener. Dark skinned people have darker water lines as well.
My waterline is maybe the darkest shade they offer. My boyfriend, not that he wants this lol, his waterline is about 3/4 shades darker.

It just annoys me that dark skinned beauty addicts tend to be forgotten. Especially from a brand that so often includes dark shades. It just makes me wonder… Why?

  • Marta

*crosses fingers* please let this be long wearing and creamy and not dry and hard!
I have to say, the concept seems maniacal to me. I don’t think it’s super sanitary to cover a blemish with it, then use it around your lips, then on your waterline. That’s how the Black Plague got started people! (That and witches, according to Nic Cages’ Season of the Witch)
I will get one for me eyes and try to keep myself from using it anywhere else, hard as it may be.

    • Renee

You are so right, probably not good to be going from eye to face and back. I wonder ifyou had to double dip, if you give it a twist in a sharpener to give a fresh clean tip for your eye would be safer. Of course it would go quickly if you did that daily. Just a thought. Cheers!

      • TwirlyGirly

I’ve viewed several YouTube videos relating to makeup sanitization, and I’ve seen many in which folks dip creamy-type products (such as lipsticks and eye crayons) in 91% alcohol to sanitize them.

If one were to always sanitize these pencils by dipping in 91% alcohol *after* each use, and always remember to apply to the waterline *first* when doing makeup (then move on to using it on the face), that would give the alcohol time to do it’s job and completely evaporate from the product before it’s next use.

        Just an idea!

        • amy

Unless you’re über-pale, it would probably be better to just buy 2 of these, anyway, in 2 different shades. The lightest being for the eyes, and one of the others as a concealer. I have a double-ended one from MUFE, which retails (I believe) for $18 USD, so even buying 2 of these is 1/2 the price. I use the lighter side for my waterline, & the other to correct my lipline.

  • Sara L

thanks for the amazing information!!!! if the shades are right, this would make perfect portable concealer and eye brighter!! about eye brightener, it was always difficult for to find nude tone drugstore priced eyeliner, but this would be it!! thanks again!!

  • Paula

ahh finally ! I’ve been looking for affordable nude liner for my waterline for ages. I don’t like white too much, they’re too harsh for me 🙂

  • kimkats
