Olay Fresh Effects Bead Me Up! Exfoliating Cleanser Review
Olay Fresh Effects Bead Me Up! Exfoliating Cleanser is a new gentle exfoliating cleaner introduced for Spring 2013. I think the Fresh Effects Collection is Olay’s attempt to garner the attention of a younger generation of beauty users. The packaging and the products just seem to have a “fun” take on skincare compared to Olay’s more mature range of anti-aging products.
I’m all about fun and fresh so I did pick this up to try out.
Let’s take a look!
This is a 6.5 oz squeeze tube exfoliating cleanser for around $5.99-$6.99. The budget price tag and “cutesy” packaging definitely will appeal to teens and those in their twenties. Considering Olay takes anti-aging skincare super serious many of their products have a clinical feel, this isn’t a bad thing, but it definitely appeals to a more mature demographic.
So the Fresh Effects Collection definitely gives a fresher, funnier vibe in comparison.
I’ve been using this cleanser for the past two weeks during my AM shower. It’s a gentle exfoliater so you can easily use it daily without the fear of drying your skin out or over stripping it. The formula is a rich creamy base with tiny grains for exfoliating. I was thankful there weren’t any “beads” such as the ones you find in Clean & Clear products. I really dislike those! This has a more refined, grainer texture that resembles salt. Actually comparing it to other products of its kind it’s a far more gentle scrub. It has a strong, fresh scent and produces a small amount of lather as you massage it on so it cleanses your face as it scrubs.
Overall, it makes for a decent way to cleanse and exfoliate in one step. The stronger scent might be too much for sensitive types but I found it rather pleasant. It isn’t the best cleanser come exfoliater I’ve ever tried to be honest as I’ve run across some at the drugstore that produced far more lather and had a grainer texture that I felt would be better suited for my dry skin. It is however, nice for AM use to gently cleanse my morning skin and give it a slight glow from the scrubbing action it produces.
It’s not something you have to run out to grab but if you’re running out of your normal cleanser/scrub hybrid perhaps pick it up for a try out.
