Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid Powered Contour Cleansing System Review
The new Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid Powered Contour Cleansing System is a new $14.99 cleansing system that was created to for hard to reach areas like your nose.
This is specially design to work with your T-Zone and comes with the new Olay Fresh Effects Shine, Shine Go Away Shine Minimizing Cleanser.
Let’s take a look!
I’m having a combo skin moment this month. Typically I have drier skin but I’ve seen a little shine on my forehead and nose with flaky, drier areas on my cheeks so this little gadget was worth a check out.
I think at a glance I assumed it was a little cleansing system like the Neutrogena Wave. But actually, it’s a completely different style of cleansing gadgetry I don’t think has been really addressed in the beauty world. This is actually a contoured cleansing brush that was created for the contours of your face and specifically for your t-zone area.
The unit is a little smaller (I placed it next to a lipstick pencil so you can see the size) than a lipstick tube with an on and off switch and a small triangle head with dense, plastic bristles. The brush uses a single AAA battery (included) to operate.
So it seems like a gimmick yes? But actually I ended up loving it. The head vibrates as you scrub with the brush. You’d think this wasn’t doing anything at all but actually it loosens up blackheads on my nose particularly nicely. Olay recommends using it around your forehead, down your nose, and around the corners of your nose. The enclosed cleanser and brush help to wash away oil and dirt for a more matte, shine-free finish. Now I have very minimal shine so you can’t really go by my results with the brush if you have super oily skin…I’m unsure how well it would work on oily skin. As for the results I experienced….shine around my forehead was lessened and in particular I liked using the brush around my nose. This is one reason I’ll be keeping the unit, for use around my nose. I’ve used it several times over the course of the last two weeks around my nose prior to using a nose strip. The brush helps to loosen up blackheads and seems to actually aid my nose strips in yanking out even more gunk! This alone makes it a very hand tool. It’s small enough to reach around the contours of my nose very comfortably.
The cleanser included is a creamy texture with a full lather. It has a very strong, fresh scent. I liked the scent but some might find it a bit too much. Personally the cleanser isn’t good for my particularly skin type so I squeeze a small amount of exfoliating cleanser onto the brush and attack my nose area with it. If the area between my brows or sides of my cheeks have any flaky areas I use the brush on those areas to gently whisk those flakes away.
Honestly, I thought the entire unit was a gimmick but the size makes it a very hand tool to use. It’ll never replace my Clarisonic but for smaller jobs it works a treat. I don’t like the $14.99 price tag…Olay should have considered a full size cleanser with the price…otherwise a mark down of around $8.99-$9.99 would be fairer (the cleanser is a mini sample). Outside of this, I think it’s a nifty tool! If you wake up in the morning and see some dryness or flaking around your cheeks you can target those areas exclusively with this tiny tool (squeeze a dollop of your favorite exfoliator onto the head to buff those areas smooth). If you’re using a nose strip in the evening consider squeezing a little cleanser or exfoliator onto the brush head and use it around your nose and follow up with the strip as the brush will loosen up gunk, blackheads, and whisk away oil.
Fact of the matter is, this is actually a very handy little brush and well worth checking out.
I liked it.
