Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara Review

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara

Tarte’s new QVC Today’s Special Value is coming at you next week (February 5th) and includes Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara.

I love the original Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara and it’s become an HG (holy grail) for me and it seems like Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara is becoming a VERY quick favorite as well. If for nothing else you should indulge in the Journey to Natural Beauty Collection on QVC just to get it.

I’m unsure when Tarte will release Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara outside of this set so if you do want to try it after this review you’ll have to log into QVC on February and steal the six piece Tarte Collection!

The mascara has a very similiar brush to the original Lights, Camera, Lashes! however, it has finer points versus thinner bristles which have a knack for grasping lashes and pulling them outwards creating some very nice length. My close up shots don’t do the mascara justice however, as you can see in my close up shots my lashes look fuller, longer, and just overall more dramatic.

The formula has a little bit of a crunchy factor on dry down but isn’t heavy so it manages to keep curl should you use a curler prior to application (it doesn’t produce curl but will hold it without leaving lashes droopy towards the end of the day). The blacker than black pigment of the mascara gives a certain drama to lashes and the length and volume it produces (a rarity to get both in one mascara) is excellent on a whole.

It removes easily but still manages to not smudge or flake on my drier eyes through the wear.

If you love Lights, Camera, and Lashes! Mascara I think you’ll ADORE Lights, Camera, Flashes! It’s a great mascara that produces a very bold, dramatic lash look that will compliment many eye looks especially smoky ones.

I gt the TSV a while ago but had just opened a new tube of mascara, so I’m waiting to try this. Your review has me excited about it, though!

i am passing on the TSV but my friend gave me the mascara from her set & i am in love. Regular LCL was good for me, but i liked the amazonian clay one better This new mascara blew them both out of the part!! My lashes look fake! Usually it takes me 3 different mascaras and a whole lot of coats to do with this did in just 2 coats. I hope they release it alone sooner rather than later =)

Unfortunately, Tarte’s or any other high end mascaras don’t work for me. I’ve tried Benefit and Christian Dior, too. I have pretty straight lashes so I need to curl them. For some reason, those mascaras pull the curl right out. 🙁 I heard so many rave reviews about Lights, Camera, Flashes! I was excited to try it. When I got it in one of the sets I bought, I quickly tried it on. Boom, flat lashes. Maybelline’s Lash Stilleto (waterproof) and Falsies (the Flared waterproof version)work wonderfully for me. I hope they never discontinue either!

Sadly, this one smudges on me! I was really liking it too. If I get just a touch too warm, I end up with mascara smudged on my browbone. 🙁

I have to say that I like the original Lights Camera Lashes much better. I find that the new one smudges on my upper eyelids and doesn’t remove as well. I still like it and wouldn’t get rid of it, but I don’t think I’d buy one when available by itself. I really love Lights Camera Lashes and the Amazonian Clay mascara. After trying many many mascaras looking for a really great mascara (and I still have a number of other mascaras), these are the two that I go to every day. Finally found mascara that I love. BTW, Muse, any word on new shades in Amazonian Clay powder blush coming out for the spring??

Hi Muse….is this brush a mixture of plastic bristles and I guess hair bristles..I know its not hair im drawing a blank right now…lol…looks awesome on your lashes by the way 🙂

  • Jen

That looks so beautiful on you! I’ve been testing Lights, Camera, Splashes, the waterproof sister to the other two, and it’s really good but a little bit wetter than I like. (Even though I prefer a dry formula, I’ll put up with a wet one if it looks good enough… can’t decide if this one does.) But Lights, Camera, Lashes is one of the best mascaras out there, so I may have to try Flashes.

Just got the kit – haven’t gotten my mascara on yet but I’m trying this one today.

I thought the brow product in the kit was very nice. THe concealer part of it I thought would be dumb but it actually makes my brows look smoother underneath and the pencil itself was a great color. Can’t miss with a spooly on the end – love all in one brow pencils.

WHat was your take on the brush? I think the bag and brush are really pretty but I’m concerned that the handle of the brush is going to get really grody, really fast.

THought the blush and lippie were very pretty and the foundation is by far one of my favorites. (although I’m testing It Oxygen liquid one now and it’s really nice too.)

Do you have the item # yet for the set that this mascara will be part of?thanks!

Looks great on you but I’m so hesitant to try any other mascara! Avon Super Shock MAX gave me false lashes look. Then I bought FAIRYDROPS Scandal Queen (I DON’T CARE WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYS ABOUT IT SUCKING! It works for me!), it lengthens and thickens up my already kinda thick, pretty long lashes. I got a sample of Urban Decay’s Super Curl. It’s nice and it works, but it also annoys me. I have never tried a tarte mascara, but I’ll get to try They’re REAL! by Benefit in May, since I’m a beauty insider ‘n all ;D

I know this is an old post but wanted to see if anyone had any input. I picked up this mascara maybe about a month ago, and love it. Well I’ve been really sick with the flu and in bed for almost the past week so it’s just sat in my beauty drawer for 4 days unused. We had company over last night for the Eagles game and when I went to put this on it was all funked up. It was all over the brush and didn’t pull the excess off like mascaras normally do when you pulled the wand out. It was if I dipped in it a giant thing of black chocolate mousse and I have no idea what happened to it. It was fine prior to that and I can’t imagine it was because it laid sideways in my designated mascara spot in my beauty drawer organizer as it lays that way on a daily basis anyway. But I’m mad and don’t know how to fix it! Has anyone else experienced this?
