Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Review & Swatches
Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme gets a make over for Spring 2013. As a self confessed lover of lip plumpers I can’t recall trying or owning the original Lip Injection or Lip Injection Extreme so I can’t say how this compares to the old formula.
Hmmm…sadness that I never tried it.
If you’re sensitive be careful with this one as it comes across rather pleasant at first but it has a nice little bite that will give the illusion of fuller lips!
Unlike Lip Injections from the past Too Faced created this one with a sponge applicator versus a brush. I actually prefer the brush for application but actually the sponge is a smart move overall. I’ve noticed when I apply lip plumpers with a brush my lips get ticklish or super sensitive as the product begins to warm up so I can’t complete application with the brush….the sponge actually is more of a bearable way to apply as it doesn’t tickle nor does it tingle or pinch as I apply.
This a clear gloss with a faint pink iridescence. Unlike many plumpers it doesn’t have a cinnamon or peppermint taste. This has more of a fruitiness which is very pleasant.
The starting line is very mild here. I apply, wait for a few seconds, wait for some more and feel absolutely nothing. Surprise! Typically I start to feel the tingle right away when I apply lip plumpers. This has a slow build up….within a minute it’ll start to tingle and perhaps it might feel like a burn for those with sensitive skin. Personally for me it feels like a sharp tingle but it isn’t unpleasant (perhaps I’m a masochist).
It contains marine sponge which gives the appearance of fuller lips and collagen booster which not only plumps but increases moisture. It’s actually super mild compared to other plumpers I’ve tried. The tingle is there for a few seconds but disappears quickly and leaves lips very slightly reddened. Now I actually just got new news on the product…the original Lip Injection formula gives instant plumping results and Extreme’s formula is supposed to give you a plumped effect over time. So might have to try this a few weeks and let you know if my lips appear any luscious after I’ve used it for a longer duration eh?
Unlike other plumpers which depend on a thick, glossy finish to create the illusion of fullness it seems like Too Faced relies on ingredients like the marine sponge to give the appearance of pouty lips.
I see some volume but not a lot in all honesty. I was hoping for a super glossy lip look with a good deal of volume due to a thicker gloss. But in this case I got more of a thinner, drier gloss with a little redness, a little pout, but nothing extreme.
Overall, Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme isn’t as extreme as I thought it would be. If you can’t stand lip plumpers or are sensitive you MIGHT want to check this out as it is very mild compared to other formulas and a good starting point to trying out such a product.
