About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. As pretty as the packaging is, I’ve got maybe 4-5 of those colors already in various other UD palettes.

A little off topic… I finally got the Vice Palette for Xmas and I’m really disappointed with it! I feel like I’m the only person on earth complaining about it, but damn that sparkle fallout!

    • the Muse

ugh some of ud’s shades have mega fall out. use a good cream base, it’ll def help!

    • Ruth

you could also try too faced’s glitter glue primer. it’s a bit stickier and it will hold the sparkles so it doesn’t look like your a one woman rave party. I’ve rocked that all over disco ball look, not my fav =)

i know ilove urban decay and i was totally excired for this pallette but not what i expected at all

I’m seeing a lot of complaints that it’s just a relaunch. But this looks like an awesome way to grab quite a few basic shadows fairly cheap, for anyone who doesn’t have them or needs a travel palette. I love the non neutrals in it!

    • the Muse

it’s so hard to write off palettes because they are a relaunch because newbies to the brand will simply love it. Of course, if you already have the shades it prob is a little disappointing…:-/

I think there’s also some backlash with the recent revamp of the fun, feminine and dangerous palettes, which seemed kind of like a cheap trick, IMO.

New formula or not, I think they would have done better to focus on non eyeshadow products for the time being- release a new lipstick or set of tools. It seems like they’re really trying to ride the naked and eye shadows for the time being, when they could do so much more by focusing on the other parts of face makeup.

Even a new face case type of thing would have been awesome. I’d be first in line to buy a new face case, even if it was half eyeshadow, because I could kill for an UD all in one kit for travel. Make it the size of naked basics with two or three levels.. Eyeshadow, cheek and lip in some form.. Even more amazing if they did a well of pressed finishing or mattifying powder… C’mon UD!

I’d love to see them do a “true” contour & highlight kit under the Naked umbrella, with an actual cool-toned contour product.

I looked at the fun, feminine and wild palettes as the same as the eyeliner sets. It’s cool if it comes out every year, if the colors change a little bit.

I just don’t see UD as the type of brand that’ll do a palette with finishing powder, shadows, and blush.

        • Cristi

OMG, UD face case! YESSS! DOOO ITTTT!! XD

I’d seriously be all over that. *sighs dreamily*

          • Shailin

Did you realize they were listening when you said this a year ago?! They even named them face cases!!

It appears I already have 7 out of the 10 shades! I do love the new formula, but between my Naked 1 palette and the Wallpaper palette there just isn’t enough of a difference. I do love Maui Wowie and Mildew, which are 2 of the ones I’m lacking! I have a dupe of Polyester Bride already.

  • amy

I passed on the original one because the shadows felt a bit dry, so I’m curious about the textures on this one. I already have 3 of the 10, and I’m pretty sure I can dupe the rest from what I have already (from what I can tell, Shattered isn’t too far off from Haight, but I don’t wear much in this range, and Mildew is quite a bit like L’Oreal Golden Emerald; the rest just seem pretty basic), so I’ll probably wait a bit on this. At least it’s not LE…

I realize all of their new stuff is higher-quality now but I do still miss their “Face Cases.” Fun palettes, I had them all. They had different themes, four (or six?) mini shadows, two lip gunks and one big pan for glitter or blush. I remember one being a multicolored glitter in a clear base you could use on eyes, cheeks, lips or hair (according to the booklet that came with all of them- with different tutorials and stuff) It was the 90’s and wearing glitter around your eyes, or hair, or cheeks was totally normal for a clubbing type look, hehe!
I think of all the loose glitters that I had that we’d douse ourselves with when we’d go to the club or a concert. What a mess…but it was so awesome at the time!

  • Heather

I’m seeing the words shimmer and glitter way too often for my comfort lol. Not sure about this one….

  • Cristi

So now I’m wondering when the old one will go on sale… I might like to snag it on the cheap, y’know? XD

    • the Muse

it’s been on and off sale for a while cristi may still be on ud’s site!

  • Jae

Dang girl you know your stuff! 😉 I spent like 30 mins over the Internet looking for some more info on the new UD 2013 spring collection and low and behold, you have a review/info of EVERYTHING! and I thank you so much for that. I don’t even type in google anymore, I just type in musings of a muse and you assume you have something on what I want reviewed and like 99% of the time you do. Love that! Consider me a fan. 🙂

    • the Muse

AWWWWWWW thanks Jaie! <3! This actually isn't a review...I'll have a review/swatches up VERY soon...just a post letting you know the deets about this new launch but thank YOU so much <3! I'm so glad you enjoy MusingsofaMuse!

Already have the old version of this, nice that they included a tiny brush instead of the sponge tip applicator in the old one (which is still in its original plastic in mine!).
