Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour Review & Swatches
Seeking a coral lipstick for Spring? Look no further! Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Lip Colour in La Favorite is your girl!
I can’t really do bright shades of coral like this (it kinda leans toward orange) but I surely love the color. As Spring and Summer approach I’m all about peaches, corals, tangerines! La Favorite fits right in with those warm burst of color.
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Color ($32) is a coral-orange shade with a rather soft sheen to it, interesting considering that the finish should be matte but leans towards semi-matte.
The color coverage is incredible and a single swipe produces medium to full pigmentation in a non-drying formula that glides onto lips beautifully. Typically, matte formulas are very dry for me and tug as I apply. This had no such issues, the texture is buttery smooth and soft on my lips.
(La Favorite swatched first on left hand side)
Interestingly enough the lipstick has an incredible wear within the first two hours but it begins to dry up on my lips after hour three and four. A little lip balm prior to application or gloss on top does keep things fresh however, without, I find that it goes quite dry on me. Outside of this minor quirk it’s one of the most pleasant matte lipsticks I’ve had the pleasure of using.
La Favorite is a gorgeous corally orange very fitting with Spring looks. The color is vibrant, saturated, and true the tube.
If you’re shopping corals at the moment you might wish to check this one out. It’s available with the Chanel Spring 2013 Makeup Collection which is available now on counter as well as at Chanel.com

Omg that looks so good on you! Wtb a sheer one for me! Lol
I felt a little clowny in it but thanks hubby ;D
I think this looks gorgeous on you! It really brightens up your face.
thanks chris
Actually I think, at least in photo, that this color looks lovely on you! now on me I don’t know (I’m an ex goth so bright pastel colors tend not to look so great on me and I have inhierited the ruddy cheeks of my English/Scots-Ire side of the family)
aw thanks leigh ;-D
It looks beautiful on you, and if I were to spend $32 for a lipstick I may pick this one !:)
thanks JC
I think this really suits you actually! Very pretty
thanks nadia
That color is gorgeous on you! I don’t have any recommendations for you as I prefer MLBB and pinky-neutral shades (I do love the Fresh Sugar Coral, though), but what are the other two lipstick shades? Or are you going to review those separately?
What color is the middle shade of the swatch called?
hi ashley from left to right La Favorite, Captivante, Precieuse
La Favorite is going to be such a favorite, what a lovely shade!
I think it actually really flatters your skin! It may just be out of your comfort zone, but I think you can totally rock it!
thanks kadie ;-D!
It really does look lovely on you. What is the second color in those swatches?
hey blue from left to right La Favorite, Captivante, Precieuse
Looks really pretty but I feel like seasonally, I’d wait a while before I wear something like this…
That looks lovely on you muse! So tempted to brave the snooty Sales Asssistants at Chanel counters for this.
be careful, take back up! ;D
This looks awesome on you! You can, and should, rock this all spring!
aw thanks jen love ya babe!
I don’t really do coral (it looks weird if it’s not opaque enough to block out my pigmented lips), but I did pick up one of the new Covergirl…er…their version of the chubby lip pencil in the coral shade, and I liked it fairly well. It leaned more towards translucent, and very faaar away from a cream, so it worked well on me.
At Chanel prices, I wouldn’t put up with a drying lipstick. …at that price point, I don’t think I could be convinced of picking anything that wasn’t a Guerlain Rouge Automatique, though!
mm was a little iffy on the CG pencils when I reviewed ‘em, creamy and a little dry for me le sigh
“Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour” oh gosh what a mouthful….
What is the name of the swatch on the right!? It’s calling my name!!
hey lala from left to right La Favorite, Captivante, Precieuse
OMG THAT COLOR!! *DIES*
I seriously love it… And I think you look stunning, Muse!
Ahhhh now comes the challenge to find that color in a more affordable brand… T_T
aw thanks stacey <3! you’re too kind! If anything pops to mind for a dupe will post it back!
This colour look great on you.
I’m a bit afraid to wear coral but this colour is very wearable. I’ll be checking it out.
I was so excited about La Favorite…and then so disappointed. It’s a stellar color and really brightens up my face. But, it’s incredibly drying, settles into lines, fades fast, doesn’t seem to play well with balm/gloss under or over and I had to slather on balm all night just to undo the horrible way my lips felt. Ugh. So not worth it. I’ve been wearing Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Rose (pink/coral) instead. It’s slightly pinker but it’s still super bright and I swear it’s such a close dupe (on my lips at least). Returned La Favorite. So sad! It was the best Spring opaque lip color so far. Too bad about the wear.
oh no so sorry to hear it goldilokks!
le sigh a little gloss on top def helps!
