Dior Twin Set Eyeshadow Duo Color Stick Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Dior needs to get on board and start creating an entire stash of their Twin Set Eyeshadow Color Sticks because I would buy ALL of them. Recently launched with the Cherie Bow Spring 2013 Collection these fabulous little color sticks contain a cream liner and eyeshadow on one side and a powder blending powder on the other.

Dior Twin Set Eyeshadow Duo Color Sticks

Available in two shades, which you must own both of so you can pair them into a look together, these rather fabulous little pencils rocked my makeup world this week as I test drove them out.

The Dior Twin Set Eyeshadow Duo Color Stick and Blending Powder is a chunky pencil design which has a dual side. The creamy side can be used as an all over eyeshadow or liner. The cream texture applies directly from the pencil easily and flawlessly with a dense yet creamy touch that blends easily onto lids leaving behind sheer to medium color on lids. I find the cream itself smudges along nicely as a liner and wears strong without fading away however, as an eyeshadow I saw some minor creasing within a four hour period so I highly suggest a good primer prior to application.

The opposite side of the pencil contains a larger sponge tip applicator which is saturated with powder shadow. The shadow is housed inside a spring mechanism located in the interior of the pencil so each time you snap it back in it’ll load with color. The sponge is rather large so it fits the contour of your lid nicely to apply color in a single swipe. The color, just like the cream, builds from sheer to medium. I find it is best used on top of the cream as it gives it more pop and sizzle! On its own it wears solid for five to six hours before fading a little intensity but no creasing issues. Worn over the cream shadow it does show minor creasing within six hours.

Although I had a few creasing issues I have to say I love these. They are so easy to apply. Grey Sigh is a particularly nice shade for creating a smoked out look in seconds without a ton of know how! Ballerina Pink is bright pink shade that pairs up WONDERFULLY with Grey Sigh (it works great alone as well!).

Overall, these duos are the bees knees. Easy to use, easy to apply, and they look fab on eyes! A little creasing is a killjoy but I can cope with proper prepping and priming. I’d absolutely buy other shades should Dior do them. At $30 a pop they are a little pricey but well worth it for creating some really great looks.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Wow, Muse – these are so pretty on you!
At first I was all like, ohh, I love the Pink. Then I scrolled down and saw the sparkliness of the grey one and was all like, ohh, I really love this one! Then I saw them combined – and am now in need of both 🙂 I am so very tempted to indulge in these

I recently purchased one of these and have only used it once since. I found it to be messy (I had the dark gray shade) and it had zero staying power on me. Very jealous of your solid 5 hours! Kinda disappointed bc the shimmer and color were very pretty once applied, but for the price, not worth it in my book. That pink shade sure is lovely on you though!

  • Icequeen81

I like the grey one more for the eyes, even the pink one is not bad but
it is sure that can be a lil bit tricky if you eyes are red or have those pinkish circles under your eyes, when you are tired or sick

Cool! Those can save a lot of space in one’s bag or pouch. =)

  • Petitez

Wow!!! These look nice! You make me wana buy them both!
    Looking great Izzy! 🙂

I’ve tried these at my local Dior counter but I must say that I’m not a huge fan of these, they crease to easily on me and I think the whole point of having a two-in-one product is that you don’t need to use other products, like a primer.

Friday morning and bunch new posts! That’s what I call bliss. Stay safe on them slippery roads!

    • the Muse

aw ashley so glad you’re enjoying the new posts ;-D you too! safe getting home!

  • Alys

I love you for making this review. I love the look for grey Sigh. And yes, they do need to make it in gold too. I will be buying the Grey Sigh later.

    • the Muse

alys gold would be lovely maybe a brassy warmer shade of gold and perhaps a golden brown..oh I’d be so on it if they did more!

I don’t say much these days but I have to say these are WOW on you. The grey especially is dramatic in a beautiful way. I had the two lighter lipsticks from this collection and love love love. I will have to look at these twin pencils as I overlooked them.

When I first saw the two colors I was like “meh” . I’m not a big fan of pink eyeshadow/eye color. That was until I saw the pink on you… HOLY C@&* !!! Those are gorgeous on you! Now I must buy these. Totally off subject but as I get ready every day pitting on my makeup, I thank you in my mind. There are quite a few items I’ve bought because of your reviews . My HG items that you introduced me to are the Sephora airbrush concealer brush ( omg how did I live w/o it?) the photoready primer, the new Nars light reflecting powder , Lumene bb cream.. Hmmm what else? I know there’s more!’ Anyway thank you for all you do for a beauty addict like myself!

    • the Muse

aw thanks alli!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY VERY flattering Alli thank you! I just answered your comments out of order lol sorry I thought you were recommending me the bb cream from flower…;-D ? but thank YOU I am so happy you found some great products to love!

  • Alli

Oh i just remembered… There’s more. The Flower bb cream and the Flower cream blushes ( 3 of them) I also got the cream shadows you should try them they’re interesting. I think you’d like them since you seemed to like the ELF Super Lustrous Shadows and they’re similar, yet more mousse like. I know I forgot a bunch because I truly do use you as my ” muse” to inspire me what my next purchase should be. 🙂

    • the Muse

I reviewed both a while ago Alli 🙂 aw thanks! VERY flattering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Denise

Woah dude! You look awesome! These look super cool. I guess I can wave bye-bye to $60 bucks…

          • Kimryan8

Got them yesterday. They are so fun to play with! These are really nice and the pink is super pigmented. I love these. Have to admit I stole your look today, I used pink on the inside and grey on the outside of the eye. Looks SO cool! These are the first Dior products I’ve ever used and I’m loving them.

I have them over UDPP and they have not faded or creased, and it’s been on for 8.5 hours already…

          • the Muse

yayyyy I’m so happy to hear it kim! I thought combining the two worked a treat and I am so glad it worked out for you too hehehe ;-D <3!!!!!!!!!!!
