Flower Shine On Lip Gloss Review & Swatches
Flower Shine On Lip Gloss is one of the few products I disliked from Drew Barrymore’s new Flower Makeup Collection. Available in ten shades for under $7 each ($6.98 to be exact) these looked like a great budget pick up.
But…the formula seems a little lacking for me.
I picked up two shades in the Flower Shine On Lipgloss recently from Walmart.com. I honestly haven’t had the time stop at my own local Walmart so unsure if they have gotten the entire collection in stores. Knowing my Walmart, they probably haven’t so rather than hunt these down I thought an online order was the ticket.
I was rather impressed with the very simple yet pretty packaging. These are a long square bottled gloss with a sponge applicator. With a simple “Flower” name on the bottle and a white topper the packaging reeks simple elegance. Weighing in at 0.18 oz they are a little larger than your typical lipgloss which is great taking into consideration their VERY cheap price tag.
The formula is a little thinner and drier. This is the type of lipgloss you have to pump the applicator in and out of the bottle a few times to pick up product and build, build, build onto lips. They have a sheer to medium color pay off that isn’t quite opaque but lends a rather good tint to lips so what you see in the tube translates fairly well to lips (or at least it did in the two shades I tried). The drier texture doesn’t feel uncomfortable on lips nor does it suck moisture from them but it lacks any real shine or glossiness. It’s the type of gloss you want to apply something on top of for a shiny finish as this doesn’t provide much of it. They wear quite long even though they aren’t particularly sticky or tacky so you’re looking at around a three to four hour period.
Overall, I liked the Flower Collection thus far but I think the Shine On Lipgloss are merely a mediocre lip product. There are far nicer glosses right now in the budget world that will give you shine, color, and a moisturizing formula in comparison.
I’d love to hear your thoughts if you tried them.
