MAC Archie’s Girl Pigment Review & Swatches

The MAC Archie’s Girl Collection launches this week and with it four new MAC Pigments. Excited? This new pigments feature cute little Veronica and Betty art work so they may be a must have for that alone.

Although already online at Nordstrom.com as well as MACCosmetics.com the actual official launch in stores and counters is February 7th. So if something sold out online no worries, there’s still time to haul it when it reaches stores later this week.

Let’s take a look at these piggies and see if you need ’em!

I admit, I’ve grown out of my “OMGZ must own every single MAC Pigment ever madez!” phase. They prove messy to work with something and more work than they are worth. But if you’re a lover of the medium these might just be a must have.

As you can see MAC went a dramatic, bold, and sultry with Veronica’s looks and sweet, pastel-ish, and lighter with Betty’s shades.

None of these colors stood out as absolute must haves for myself. The pastels are a tad too frosty for me and I felt like Cheers My Dear was a tad similiar to Kitschmas which I already own. Where as the darker colors, well, I can’t pull them off very well as fine lines and dark circles just makes these look a little too cra cra on my eyes.

However, that’s not to say many will adore these shades!

MAC Black Poodle Pigment is described by MAC as a blackened pink but I just get a purpl-y matte black with some minor shimmer. It’s a very saturated shade so a little goes a very long way. I find it difficult to apply such a shade all over my lid as it proves iffy to blend out due to fall out a little bit of patchiness. I’d recommend using it wet as an eyeliner of sorts as that proves the easiest way to wear it. It provides a very dramatic, bold line when paired up with a little water and the right eyeliner brush.

MAC Lucky In Love Pigment is shimmering light blue green with a dreaded frosty finish. For me it just feels like a lighter pastel green, kinda reminds me of Easter. Pigmentation is equally good but I noticed it sheers out as I blend so you do need to built a little bit for the best finish. I’d suggest a sponge tip application to pack color on.

MAC Cheers My Dear Pigment is a light lavender with hints of pink, again with a frosty finish. It’s not as chunky as MAC Kitschmas so if you wanted something a little more finely milled in a similiar shade this is your girl. I don’t do frosts so well so this has a very sparkly appearance on my lids. Pigmentation was overall fantastic here and true to bottle color.

MAC Magic Spells Pigment is blackened teal with what I felt was like an almost matte or semi-matte finish. I’m not getting the frost factor here in the least. Out of the four shades this and Black Poodle prove the most dramatic in color pay off so a little goes a long way with either shade. It’s a shade that will prove difficult for many to use as an all over lid color however, if you can rock it, it packs the drama.

Thankfully MAC has learned from past mistakes as all the art work on the Archie’s Girl Collection is printed on (no stickers or labels). I thought the faces of Veronica and Betty a very cute extra if you put heavy importance on your package. The collecting factor is here as well.

Packaging and comics aside, if I really needed to buckle down and decide if I wanted to haul these shades I’d probably say no. I think most will find such dramatic shades like Magic Spells and Black Poodle a little difficult to use in daily looks but maybe that’s just me. There are a ton of other great products to select in this collection so at least you’re not a hardcore MAC girl I’m thinking you might be safe skipping these.
