MAC Archie’s Girls Pearlmatte Face Powder Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Ah another highlight of the MAC Archie’s Girl Collection, the Pearlmatte Face Powder. Seriously, stick a bunch of hearts on a face powder and chances are Imma want it. How can you resist makeup like this cute? Come on, no willpower!

Take a peek!

These $30 wonders might be a little too much for your wallet, if so, might I suggest grabbing the Stila All You Need is Love Palette to appease your appetite for all things cute and heart-sy (plus it’s only $14).

If you do have the bucks I’d def haul both of these. They are cute and quite practical as a highlighter. Plus with a little know how that I do not possess I imagine you can pop them out and replace them with another MAC Powder if you’re just digging the design on the compact.

MAC Flatter Me Pearlmatte Face Powder (Betty’s Shade) is a golden beach base with coral hearts. It’s very similiar to Cream Soda Blush (I’ll review and swatch that for you in an upcoming post). It’s a little difficult to concentrate on a single shade since the hearts are so tiny. This is a swirl all over and apply type of powder. On my cheeks it sadly goes a tad frosty but with a light hand you can blend it out to a soft beige-y coral with a golden sheen.

The powder seems rather difficult to yield color with a regular brush so for the best results I’d suggest a kabuki but don’t over do it (a kabuki swirled in the powder picks up a hecka lot). It is fairly powdery but not chalky.

MAC Veronicas Blush Pearlmatte Face Powder has a pink base with darker pink hearts. This shade goes rather sheer on me, it’s a powdery texture and my brush seems to pick up plenty of color but once applied I can barely see it on my face. It works best as a highlighter over blush but sadly neither shade would work well as a blush (perhaps on really fair skin).

If you’re a highlighter fan or someone who uses highlighter daily these are an ideal purchase. Fairer skin will likely be able to use them as both a blush and a highlighter.

Overall, for me, the hearts are the deal breaker! It’s just such a delightful little powder that’s difficult to say no too. However, those in it for practicalA makeup purposes do take into consideration the uses I stated above.

Are you hauling either? Both?

Do share!

Hmm I’m not a huge fan of the packaging actually but I just love the colors and I’m a total blush and highlighter junkie. I’m super fair skinned so these might have to be in my collection~ And those hearts, I love them. Adorable.

I’m hauling both! I seriously can’t wait. I was planning on using the pink as an all over face powder, so I don’t mind if it is sheer- I’m also getting the Veronica blush so I know those will pair nicely together. I didn’t get the Cream Soda blush, so if it is close to the beauty powder I’m in heaven. Nice photos, can’t wait until I can pick up my items on Thurs!

What a great idea about replacing the powder in the compact. I’ve saved my MAC Liberty of London compact bc it was too pretty to part with. I think I’ll have to try to refill it with a regular ol powder.
    Thanks!

Muse, are these similar to the Physicians Formula blushes with the hearts? I’ve been trying to resist these, but I like the hearts and the packaging, and I’ve been told these are really nice colours. I haven’t tried the Physicians Formula ones, but if you you think they’re really similar, I’ll hold off on purchasing these. I’m quite fair, so I’d use these as a glowy blush.

    Thanks!

not really christina, the PF are blushes and more pigmented, these are more highlighters (can also be used as an eyeshadow according to mac). If you’re super pale these might work as a blush but they are sheer. Outside of the hearts there isn’t really a lot of the same features even the powders are different textures and finishes.

If you had to choose between the Flatter Me face powder and Cream Soda blush, which one would you pick?

I’m leaning towards the blush b/c it seems to have better colour payoff…

cream soda blush because it is more pigmented but flatter me if you want the cute hearts hehehe ;D

Both are really pretty! Not willing to spend $30 on them since I already have very similar highlighters.
