NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator Review & Swatches

NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator

NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator is available in two shade selections and dare I say a great dupe for NARS Illuminator. At $7 a tube it’s a far nice option than NARS’ own $30 version.

I think you’ll particularly like Sunbeam which could be an easy replacement for Copacabana.

Take a peek!

I’m not much for liquid highlighters but even I can’t deny how easy it is to incorporate NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator into my regime. A tiny amount patted on my highbrow, on my cheek bones, or mixed with my BB Cream produces a gorgeous shimmering glow.

Sunbeam is a pretty shade of pearl pink that goes lighter pearl as you apply. The texture is a creamy, lightweight liquid that blends easily onto skin leaving behind a glistening glow with tiny, refined specks of silver sparkle. You can easily over do this look so use a tiny amount to begin and build as needed. I like mixing it with my BB Cream as it’ll produce an all over glow plus my base product will subdue and tame some of the sparkle.

I find NARS Illuminators actually have more sparkle in comparison so Born to Glow is definitely a more subtle highlighter.

A touch on your highbrow area will diffuse the look of dark circles and give your eyes a more lifted, awake look as well.

Overall, Born to Glow is an excellent liquid highlighter at a fraction of the cost compared to competitors. If you’re a highlighter girl this will indeed be a pleasing formula with a friendly price tag.

It’s available now at www.nyxcosmetics.com as well as Ulta.com and Ulta stores.

I rather like the look of this. Nothing could make me give up Copacabana, but this is still very lovely. Maybe as a backup version for traveling? The price is certainly a tad more friendly. 😛

You know, I’ve been having a problem with wayy too matte face. If I mix this with my bb creams, and then setting with a powder, do you think that will help? I’m not really familiar with bronzing, highlighting, etc…

hi ashley this is just to add glow it won’t really help with dryness? you’re saying you’re too matte? are you dry? If so perhaps more moisturizer or a moisturizing primer prior to foundation/bb cream.

Hmm, how do I explain, oh I guess maybe too cakey, super matte, kind of looked like my nose bridge disappeared and I had two floating nostrils. I’ll try moisturizing more and maybe a primer too. Thanks for the tip! ;D

I have a deep skin tone and I was wondering which shade is best for me, because I have Tarte’s Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer, its lighter than the Nyx’s shade ‘Gleam’, and I love how it looks on my face. But what I’m trying to get to is, is it better to get a luminizer a little bit lighter/darker than your skin tone?

I saw this at Ulta the other day and thought it looked quite similar to Benefit High Beam. I noticed this has a bit more glitter to it. I have not tried NARS yet. Thanks for the review!

my pleasure arielle 😀 not quite high beam more warmer 😀

thank you for reviewing this, Muse. i’m looking for a face illuminator and many suggested koh gen do which is pretty expensive for my taste. i may try this first until i can apply highlighter successfully #lol

Do you suggest SUNBEAM for Asian skin too? Iam not too dark and too light like a wheatish tone you can say
