About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Likey! Will probably hover around Nordstrom Rack and hope they show up there eventually. Stila does those soft shimmers so well.

    • Marisa

If you haven’t picked up the palette yet, I bought “the natural palette” at the Boston Nordstrom rack today!

  • Agata

Ohh, I saw it earlier on ulta.com today (I guess I am not the only one stalking ulta and sephora every day for new arrivals :)). I love neutrals and they both look super pretty.

  • MeggieBeth

Ooh, The Natural looks so good for my crazy-pale skin. I’m really looking forward to your review. It seems like a good price for all that. I do wish there was a really soft pink in there, too, but who doesn’t need good neutrals?

      • Brooke

I went into my local Ulta and asked for the Stila Dare to Bare Palette, the employes said they hadn’t ever heard of it! Has anyone else had this problem?

  • K.B.

OMG I want both! I guess I’ll be placing an Ulta order soon (why can’t this be sold at Sephora, darnit!).

  • Simone

    These look so lovely!
If I didn’t have so many nuetrals I would be stoked right now, but there’s no way I can get this (yet)!
It’s also cool you can get both for less than the price of most neutral palettes, and you get a 2 highlighters/Bronzers! Great deal!

I feel like every dept. store brand has a nude eyeshadow named Birthday Suit!?

  • Christy

So pretty. I guess I’ll pass though, I’ve bought so many “nude”, “naked” and neutral palettes in the last year or two. But they are gorgeous and the price is right!

  • kimkats

Argh – I want both. NOW. Must visit ulta soon, I see…. 🙂 Wish stila wasn’t one of the “prestige” lines so I could use a coupon on ’em… Ah well… must have them anyway! Thanks for the heads up Muse!

  • gracie

Wonder if they’ll be available at Sephora, there’s no Ulta where I live 🙁

  • TLE

Muse!!! Do you know where they might be selling these in Canada?? I love the natural one, but Ulta doesnt ship here 🙁

  • amy

I’m trying to justify a reason to buy these, but I can’t really find one… I have way too many neutral shadows, and I just ponied up $42 for the LORAC Pro palette, which after the first week hasn’t even been touched. Perhaps if the bronzer/highlighter work for me, I can consider buying.

  • Katie

Nice! If they swatch well I just might need them both. I like the price but I am guessing they are pretty small. That is fine with me. i never hit pan anyway. Remember the 75$ palette? I had to look it up since I never heard much about it. I guess everybody thought the price was crazy.

  • Cj

I wonder if the shadows are removable… I could buy both and put the best ones in each in one palette… MUAHAHAHAHA! *evil makeup genius*

    • the Muse

lol ;-D good idea! I’ve never tried tbh…I love the stila girls so I kinda “collect” the palettes and don’t want to ruin them by depotting ;D

  • Sue

Yep definetly buying both. Plus ULTA is so great with coupons and discounts. So next sale or coupon picking these up.

  • lisa johnson

These would be amazing for #wedding #makeup with a beautiful cream lip – they’re priced right as well.

  • Sarah S.

Hmm… these bum me out because you’d need both to get a complete eye look. The palette with the brunette is all the darker shades and the palette with the blond is all the lighter shades :-/ I really am sick of palettes without all (light, medium, and dark) tones of eyeshadows, because you need at least one of each tone to really define eyes, don’t you think? Vent over 😉

    • Heather

I got a chance to try out The Natural when my partner brought it on vacation with us. Though I would not say there is a “dark” shade, both the matte and the shimmery deep shades are actually dark enough for me to add plenty of depth.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it theoughout the week. We are both relatively fair skinned, one light brown/hazel eyed and one green eyed redhead. I found myself reaching for it almost every day. I love that it has three matte/satin finishes and three shimmers. The colors are so much prettier than the photos, too. As a matter of fact, I only busted out Naked once the entire time, and that was for a smoky eye.

The only thing that keeps it from being a full face palette for me is my love for pinky blushes…. But that was easily solved with PosieTint. If you’re headed to the beach or in a hurry to get to work, this plus tinted moisturizer, eyeliner and mascara will do the trick!

  • Linda

Muse, I have to tell you, I just love your reviews. I’m a makeup junkie too and yours is the first blog/website about makeup that I actually like! Keep it up! I read you every day!!!!

    • the Muse

Aw thanks Linda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3! I appreciate your comment SO much! 🙂

  • Andrea

i love these!! but the first thing i noticed was no “kitten” was in either. woo hoo!! lol 😀

    • the Muse
