Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Doozers Perfume Oil

Doozers is one of the several Black Phoenix Aclhemy Lab Perfume Oils inspired by Fraggle Rock. BPAL launched a Fraggle Collection a few months ago and I’ve been slowing reviewing each one.

Being a fond fan of the Fraggles these perfume oils definitely tickled me as must have items. Perhaps I’m giving away my age but I remember watching the Fraggle as a child, needless to say after Jim Henson passed all of his muppet creations just weren’t the same. Just a note, as much as I am in love with and willing to have Jason Segel’s baby I couldn’t watch more than 15 minutes of him singing in the new Muppet Movie….I couldn’t finish it. It was cringe worthy. Did I miss anything good?

Now about those Doozers….

Doozers have the most thankless job in the world. They are tiny little green critters, quite cute, who spend long days constructing intricate roads, buildings, bridges, and more made from radish dust. Now here are these hard working critters creating these super elaborate buildings and in come Fraggles who basically destroy and eat those buildings. WTF!? Thankless job I tell you! But the Doozers don’t seem to mind as if the Fraggles didn’t eat their work they’d run out of building space!

Still if I broke my back making something and someone came in crushed and ate it I’d be all kinds of pissed.

There was actually one episode in the series where one Fraggle, maybe Red? Who proceeded to boycott eating their buildings because she realized how hard they worked but it turned out the Doozers would have to move away from Fraggle Rock and possibly die if they couldn’t build. So in the end….these little green creatures slave away creating radish dust buildings for a buncha Fraggles.

Shrug!

I dunno…as a kid it seemed logical as an adult I’m sitting here thinking WTH!?

Let’s just get on with the perfume review. My brain hurts trying to understand Henson logic.

I admit the Doozers were one of my favorite characters. They were so cute but there voices were shockingly New York accented, “Hey, Yo, forgettaaboutit!” Shrug! You’d expect a cute voice to come out of that little body.

BPAL describes this as glittering crystals, soft soil, and radish dust. That’s actually kinda right…I mean if glittering crystals smell like a clean, fresh ozone….this has a fresh ozone-y note on first application with a dry down that goes laundry-fresh…kinda cotton-y….in the back ground you can definitely smell freshly turned dirt and a hint of radish. There’s a little bit of baby powder as well!

I actually don’t like the scent. I like fresh blends but I’m not a big freshly laundry-ed fragrance fan unless Clean is the one doing it. This basically has a powdery dry down with a fresh laundry scent with a surprisingly playful twist of sweet radish. It’s very fresh and clean smelling…

It also happens to be very strong. The scent has a long linger and a fairly good throw.

If you like clean, fresh, slightly ozone scents that remind you of sheets drying on the line during a Summer-y day you’ll probably adore this!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. You missed Dave Grohl as Animal! I actually like the new Muppet movie and thought that it was done with a lot of love towards the originals. Maybe with the craptastic weather we’re supposed to be getting later today, give it another try. We have the first three seasons of The Muppet Show on DVD and love watching them on a yuk day. Pigs In Spaaaaccceeee!!!!

I seen a few clips with Animal so I think I’m set with my Dave Grohl fix lol! but JS singing really hurt my ears hehe…maybe I’ll try again ;-D!!!!!!!!! I have the Muppet Show on DVD too, LOVE love love ;-D hehe pigs in spaces=da awesome!

I got the entire Fraggle Rock boxed set for my daughter (and myself OF COURSE!!) For Xmas last year. Jim Henson is my idol. And I love that I can get my daughter into this as opposed to suffering through iCarly or something (shudder)

carrie aw that’s is awesome ;-D does she love it? 😀 LOL you know it was more for you than her hehe!

      • carrie

Of course it was! 🙂 She loves it. Of course I raised her on Henson… at age 3 her imaginary friend was named Hoggle and for xmas that year she wanted a David Bowie CD in her stocking. Lol. Now she is 11 (and my son is 9) and we all like to watch a lot of the same shows together. Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Face Off, Doctor Who and the Walking Dead.

Well I named my daughter Eowyn from LOTR and my son Damien so there was NO way they couldn’t like sci-fi/fantasy/horror. No child of mine will dislike these things! Hehe. Kidding. But they ended up enjoying them with me so YAY!

you’re my hero 😀 seriously, you are ;-D

          • carrie

You’re too sweet! (Blush) and you’re mine! I love your blog. I’ve had to teach my kids to love their inner nerd / weirdos. Dare to be different! I mean, where we live most of the moms are still married and are pretty homogeneous looking. For a while it upset my daughter that I wasn’t…but now she embraces it. I guess when middle school hits having a mom with tats who likes metal and punk and whatnot isn’t embarrassing anymore!

AWWWWWW love you back. Kids need more moms like you. Who wants to be ordinary when you can be a weirdo ;-D hehe. Ordinary is boring! 😀

          • carrie

Weirdos unite! Lol. The only thing that seems to embarrass my daughter is that I’m a huge like gigantic Chicago Bears fan. Which seems odd to me considering the many weirder and quirkier things I’m also into. Lol

amen sister! 😀 ha that’s one thing you won’t catch me on, football ;-D unless it’s of the British variety ;D

  • Tammie

Wow as a kid I never realized the Doozers had a symbiotic relationship with the Fraggles lol. I always thought the Fraggles were just being jerks!

    • the Muse

LOL! ;-D noooo they actually LIKED creating those masterpieces for fraggles to destroy and gobble up! there was an entire episode about it lol!

      • Tammie

It probably all went under my head at the time haha…I was more the Sesame Street crowd when I watched!

“Down at Fraggle rock, down at Fraggle Rock boom boom”

Great now that is stuck in my head! LOL

  • Cristi

It was Mokey. She even had this like, little televangelist crowd singing songs about not eating the constructs and whatnot. lol

Thanks for the BPAL review. Always glad to see ’em. :3
