Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes Review & Swatches
My review on the Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes is a long time coming but I’ve finally completed my testing with them! Good news as I know MANY of you were eager to hear about these.
These are a fantastic follow up to Clinique’s wildly popular Chubby Lip Balms and excellent marketing on Clinique’s part if you think about. I mean think about it, we all know and love the balms so of course, introduce a similiar product for eyes and we’re bound to get excited about it. Imagine if they did a blush pencil? Don’t tell me you wouldn’t run to your counter to grab a blush pencil…!
Launched in twelve shades these are $16 each (buy two and get free shipping at Clinique.com using code CHUBBY) so they fall rather nicely into a mid-range cosmetic lover’s budget. I feel the price is very reasonable and borders beauty budget and mid-range pricing.
Take a peek!
These are a chubby twist up pencil just like their the Chubby Lip Balms. They swivel up and down easily so no need for a sharpener. The rounded dome head of each pencil fits the contour of eyes beautifully which allows VERY, very easy, mistake-proof application plus that dome shape of the pencil means it’ll never go dull and will keep its uniformed shape over use.
Lavish Lilac, Filler Fudge, Whopping Willow, Pink & Plenty
Massive Midnight, Big Blue, Ample Amber
The pencil is very well designed and ensures proper application each and every use. These are the type of shadows a two year old could apply for you and you’d coming out of it looking flawless. The color has a knack for looking smooth no matter how much you apply and they don’t tug during application which ensures an easy glide across lids. It’s a soft almost powder-y feel with a powder-like dry down on my drier lids. It’s weird but the pencil almost feels like a powder versus a cream texture as it just applies so smoothly and flawlessly and there isn’t any tackiness or dewiness to it, it virtually sets in seconds after application but still remains easy to build over should you desire. Colors vary but for the most part they provide sheer to borderline medium pay off and can be built for a smidge more intensity but….for the most part, I’d say they deliver a softer look so don’t expect super bold.
Wear time will vary but on my drier lids without primer I can get a crease-free wear without fading for a solid eight hours. They just don’t budge at all!

Overall, Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes is a very interesting product as although they are a cream shadow of sorts but they don’t act that way at all. Clinique somehow created a formula that’s one part cream, one part powder, and all awesome. They wear strong, they apply easily, and they look great. The funny thing about these is the minimal work involved in application! It’s all about smoothing it on your eye directly from the pencil and just going. No blending required! The dome shade of the pencil follows the natural curve of your eye, delivers color perfectly, and doesn’t require you to sit around and blend it out. It just flawless from from the get go.
A very interesting product that even cream shadow haters will love.
Muse Approved.
Do try a shade or two I think these will surprise you with their no nonsense formula that transforms lids with a wash of pretty color!

These are so beautiful! I think I need Whopping Willow- it looks great on you, BTW. Thanks for the swatches and review
aw my pleasure jade and thank you! they are really pretty pencils!
I just got Lots o’ Latte – It’s great. I have ultra greasy eyelids, so I had a bit of creasing, but an excellent wear time, and good color payoff! I might have to pick up Whopping Willow!
ya know I was going to mention in my review that I thought maybe they’d grease on oily lids so it’s good you confirmed…Mine are dry and it held well but I can imagine the formula having a few creasing probs on an oily lid.
It’s so weird, because the rest of my skin is really horribly dry, but I sweat easily and have a bit of a hooded lid, so I almost always get creasing, so I don’t hold that against any product. I used it with a primer today, and it eliminated the creasing issue, more or less.
my sister has oily lids as well and she always has issues with most every single product. It’s def hard to test products and see how they wear when you have the issues, just good to know it at least worked with primer for you
that’s good news!
I was waiting on your review and now I know I want to get Whopping Willow. I like that lip color you have on with it too. Is that one of the new Revlon lip butters?
no kim, those are milani statement lipstick shades
(can’t recall which ones exactly at the moment but review upcoming on those shades)….!
Oh, I think I’ll have to try these. Glad to hear there’s not much creasing on oilier lids. Mine aren’t super-oily, but they’re not dry either. Should be a good fit, and the colors are pretty.
Bountiful beige = AMAZINGGG I’ve been wearing it literally everyday since I bought it lol.
YAY! bet it looks fab!
I have 3 of these and I LOVE them. I hope they come out with more shades (taupe please!) in the future~~ Lavish Lilac is my favorite!
I have Lots o’ Latte, and it’s pretty taupe-y, if you don’t have that one.
I have Ample Amber and Bountiful Beige and I love them both. Super excited for Clinique Bonus Time (which starts at Macy’s on the 25th) so I can pick up a few more shades and get some freebies, too! I think I will have to get Whopping Willow; it’s so pretty on you and I’m trying to work more green shadows into my routine. Great review!
