Cool Finds: Nordstrom Citrus Combo Hair Chalk Set

Nordstrom Citrus Combo Hair Chalk Set

I wore Colorsmash Hair Shadow in So Jaded this weekend and ran across the new Nordstrom Citrus Combo Hair Chalk Set last week which I ordered.

Looks like hair chalking will trend for Spring and Summer again!

Considering I pay fifteen bucks a pop for Colorsmash pucks I thought the Nordstrom Citrus Combo Hair Chalk Set was a deal in a half for the same price. This set includes three different colored hair chalks.

Hair chalk is such a great way to add color that easily washes out.

Not sure how great the Nordie’s version will be but I’d like to try!

These are available now at Nordstrom.com

Oooh pink…. I’ve actually never tried hair chalk before, I only used the uhh spray stuff?

chalk is kinda cool! foolproof! ;-D really easy to apply and washes out super easily!

  • Amy

I just learned about hair chalk a few weeks ago – why did no one tell me about this before!?! Well, you probably did, but I only discovered your site a few weeks ago, too! I used Anastasia’s Teal Tornado, and wow! I love it! I’ll definitely be buying more.

amy I picked up a few of the AB ones! I’m so happy to hear you like! I haven’t tried them yet so I’m excited to do so now ;-D!

    • Cindy Ramirez

Oh yay! I was going to pick one up at Ulta but I held off because I didn’t really know how well they worked. I’ll be picking one up this week!

So how does this work? You just use it like a piece of chalk and color strands of hair with it, or am I saying crazy things now? 🙂 I have never seen something like this around here. Catrice is about to launch hair dye powders though, so maybe that is something similar that I could try out.

i don’t do my entire head, just strips of it OR I do the back tips when I leave it down. You simply rubbing it through your hair and it’ll basically color your hair. haven’t heard that Catrice was doing hair dye powders but possibly similiar? cakes are easier to use in my experience. you wanna twist as you chalk as it’ll get more pigment under your hair and of course, brush it through. It removes in a pinch with clarifying shampoo as I def can’t go to work with strips of emerald or pink in my hair ;D

I just saw a pic of the Catrice ones on their website. WHY can’t we get Catrice here in the States 🙁 boo hoo! Their new Neo Geisha line is killing me, want it so bad.

Back to hair chalking, IMO it’s better to just buy a big pack of them from Michael’s or Amazon. You get a ton of colors for cheap. I think the Muse covered this a while back in another post. And don’t wear light colors, it sheds on me like a mofo. Looked like I had blue dandruff on my shoulders LOL!

I HOPE catrice follows essence and at some point launches here! 🙂 I did indeed hehe thanks for remembering chica! I never use light either, they don’t WORK and they make me look awful! I def go with dark shades. lol! I tend to go with really hard blues and purples. Even pink drowns out on my hair and looks cheap!

From what I’ve read, hair dye powder is more permanent and made to be so. Nothing like chalks, which can just wash out with just one shampooing.

  • Nat

I think chalking looks neat, but I’ve heard it dries your hair out (and mine is straw-like enough as it is heehee); Muse do you run into that problem when you do it?

    • the Muse

I typically only leave it in for a single day and I’m very gentle when I apply (my hair is dry too so def know what you mean). I work on freshly conditioner hair (not wet, very very slightly damp). And as soon as I get home I wash it out with a clarifying shampoo and use a deep conditioner. I’ve had no problems thankfully ;-D my hair is SUPER long and SUPER curly, dry, some frizz if I don’t take care of it so I def have to be careful with chalking ;-D

  • Danii

Am I really the only person who actively dyes their hair???? I don’t want to do hair chalking because then I have powder in my hair that can get everywhere and I like more permanent results.

  • Majick

I stay away from these because my hairdresser is a genius and I wouldn’t want to mess up anything. I’ve heard if your hair is porous (i.e. bleached etc.) the color can deposit and be difficult to remove. I use a clip in if I’m desparate for color.

A long, long, time ago, in a land far away, Majick died her hair the color of the taillights of a car. L’Oreal Zazzu Color – supposed to wash out in 3-4 washes…Majick had Strawberry blonde hair until she went back to the Salon. LOL

Confessions of a high school punk rocker here….many years ago! I used to bleach and dye my hair different crazy colors all the time with Manic Panic (remember that stuff?) At one point I went with alovely lilac color. In one week it had faded to an awful gunmetal grey color. It was awful! Thankfully I kept my hair super short so I would just cut it all off and start over. LOL!

      • Majick

Ha ha Carrie – if you did that today you’d be right on time. LOL I love all the crazy colors but I still kept it temporary. THat Zazzu color was the first one I had trouble getting out.

OMG – remember the color sprays? and the Rue Rinses? GAH, I used to go to hair school and we used to put those in all the time – just don’t ever sweat or get caught in the rain ROFLMAO!

        • carrie

I hear ya majick! I def miss doing my hair all the time like that. I should give temp colors more of a whirl. Stopped dyeing my hair when I started growing it out….its halfway down my back, Med blonde and very wavy /curly with frizz! Have a hard enough time with it being dry so heck with chemicals. Temp color though….hmmm…: -)
