Etude House Sweet Recipe Chocolate Eyes

What’s not to love about a chocolate bar shaped eye palette? Etude House’s new Sweet Recipe Chocolate Eyes Palette is shaped like a cute little bar of chocolate and even smells like one (it has a faint chocolate-y fragrance).

I can’t be the only person that thinks this is absolutely adorable!

Etude House Sweet Recipe Chocolate Eyes Palette

Although as cute as a button I promise this palette is practical as well as adorable. The shape and size is similiar to Etude House’s Sweet Recipe Highlighter as it comes in a slide out cardboard box shaped like a posh chocolate bar. Graduating shades of chocolate brown makeup up the shadows each of which features tiny imprints on the powder including hearts and stars.

I mentioned it with the Highlighter and the same holds true for the shadow, the packaging is very weak and not travel friendly in the least. With use over time it’ll show wear and tear unfortunately as this isn’t a sturdy cardboard compact but a very weak paper one. Sadness! So I don’t recommend traveling with it and be quite gently with it during application. It’s adorable but poorly made unfortunately.

The shadows all have a matte finish with a very soft to the touch finish. They are smooth, buttery, incredibly soft, and apply like a dream. Considering I don’t do matte this is a compliment coming from me. The shades are easy to apply, blend out easily, and create a very pretty natural eye look. For my look below I used the creamy camel beige on my lid and a little of the middle, lighter chocolate in the crease. The last shade, the deeper, richer chocolate, can be used as a liner if you like.

It does actually have a chocolate scent…I didn’t get that from the highlighter but the shadows seem to be scented or maybe I am completely imagining things. But there is some sort of subtle chocolate fragrance in the background here!

Etude House Sweet Recipe Chocolate Eyes Palette Face of the Day

The palette creates a fairly basic look but does it well with excellently formulated shades that pack a good deal of pigment.

I liked it and thought it was an excellent no nonsense shadow palette that not only brought the cute but also the practical.

A variety of E-bay sellers have the Etude House Sweet Recipe Collection available for fairly reasonable pricing. I recommend Zinopark (I’m not affiliated with him) whom I’ve purchased from in the past as he ships quickly and has fairly decent pricing and shipping costs.

I want to try this! I don’t know whether it’ll be worthit though since I’m not great at applying eyeshadow, let alone matte ones…

can these be used wet? I am always in the hunt for good matte shadows that can be made more dramatic. And with the chocolate scent I am kind of all over this 🙂

they are a smoother, buttery formula and wetting them would prob be messy 🙁 perhaps the deeper chocolate you can wet to line with but I wouldn’t do so with the eyeshadows.

Is it bad that I want this *only* because it smells like chocolate? I *know* I can dupe these shades from my stash (at least to a 90% accuracy, within at least 5 brands), but I want this palette anyway. I have a serious addiction to neutrals, although I rarely even wear them…

I actually re-watched Sulli’s ‘Get It Beauty: Self’ video to see what she did with this palette, and I tried it but… I ended up looking like I had bruised my eye. 😛 I think I just need a bit more practice with this, haha! 🙂 thanks for the review~!

    Hi Muse!

This is the first time I comment but I couldn’t help it. I am really interested in this product. I’m a latina, with fair/fairly light skin. Do you think the peach or the berry would blend in better? Also, amazon has it for 17 dollars including shipping. Too much?
