Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask

With Spring here and Winter kinda behind us I’ve been using Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask to whisk away dry, flaky skin.

Dude, have I ever lead you wrong? You seriously need to try this stuff. As a hardcore fan of Lush Dark Angels and Coalface and of course, MAC Volcanic Ash I was all about it as soon as I heard “Charcoal”. Seriously, my little beauty radar begins to bleep whenever I hear charcoal. It’s been programed to do so thanks to Lush who turned me onto the joys of charcoal in my skincare!

Might sound weird but it is absolutely thee awesome.

Take a peek!

All honesty if you’re sensitive or have redness on your face I wouldn’t really recommend Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask as it is a harsher scrub.

Those with drier skin, flaky, patchy areas, and those looking to get their glow back due to dullness and dry skin THIS is a god sent plus it costs next to nothing at $3.99!

This is a sugar mask and scrub that helps to absorb excess oil whole exfoliating skin. I’d recommend it once a week but not more than this if you have drier skin. If you’re oily you could possibly get away with it twice a week.

To use it simply apply a thick layer over your face and leave on 5 to 7 minutes. After that simply massage it into your skin and rinse with lukewarm water. You can skip the mask part if you want and head in straight to the scrubbing action. Whichever way you choose to use it I promise it’ll get your skin glowing!

Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask Swatches

It has a fresh cucumber scent and a thick, grainy black formula. It’s a sugar scrub however, it is fairly grainy and harsh. It’s one of the few facial scrubs I own that doesn’t overly dry out my skin and does double duty at attacking dry skin leaving it SUPER smooth, soft, and refined.

If you like scrubs like St Ives Apricot Scrub it’s a given you’ll enjoy the texture of this.

Overall, at this price you can’t beat the results. It leaves my skin super soft and rids me of my patchy cheeks and dullness restoring a glow to my face and allowing my moisturizer and other skincare products to apply easily.

LOVE this stuff.

Get it.

It’s available now at drugstores or visit www.freemanbeauty.com for more info!

Muse, have you tried Origin’s Clear Improvement? It’s a charcoal mask as well, and it’s lovely. My skin glows after using it.

    • the Muse

i have not kira, next trio to macy’s will have to peek at the origins goodies and see about trying it ;-D thanks!

  • breyerchic04

If I find this in a drugstore, I’ll totally pick it up.

I love Freeman’s pineapple mask, it takes away quite a bit of my dullness.

  • carrie

My daughter and I are Gerry much enjoying doing masks together. This one sounds better for her since she’s starting to get pre teen puberty complexion issues.

ooh what’s black sugar? i want some!

i’ve always really liked freeman stuff

    • the Muse

this is a press sample maria but listed the url for freeman in this post and mentioned it’s available at drugstores hope this helps!

  • Elise

Can u PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a review on Kose Airy Whip.? ive heard u mention it a bunch but haven’t found a post specifically abut it! thanks:)

  • Tiffany Martin

This DOES look awesome. SO many of the freeman masks are very very good, and now this one too, huh? I admit the concept of a scrub/mask is a little weird, but I’d give it a try, especially for $4.

    This review rocks, Muse.

*adds to list of things that I want to try and can actually afford * This looks really interesting. I cant wait to try it – I have wanted to try the volcanic ash scrub from MAC but the price point is way more than I am comfortable spending on something I am just gonna rinse off my face.

  • Miss_Silk

OMG I NEED THIS…my skin has been suffering like crazy due to allergies and harsh cold winds in the morning. I will be purchasing this the moment I find it

    Thanks for the review~!!

  • Jenny

Wow, I sure hope we have this in Canada! I’ve been wanting to try the Mac Volcanic Ash but it’s so expensive here in Canada! I will definitely be trying this out. Thanks for posting the ingredients too because past Freeman products I’ve tried all have parabens (and I’m trying to avoid products with parabens).

  • Heather

This looks good!! I bought a Charcoal
Deep-Pore Gel Cleanser by Michael Todd. Don’t buy it lol It was nothing special.

  • Spooki

I love this stuff but it’s become so hard to find where I live. I should just cave and order it online but I hate paying so much in shipping for cheap products.

  • Amber

I have super fair, sensitive skin so thanks for the heads up on the texture. Sounds like a no go for me.

  • JenJ

“Dude, have I ever lead you wrong?” #ichuckled and adds to shopping list 😀

  • Cj

So I ordered 3 bottles of this, 3 of the golden grain brightening mask, 1 pineapple and 1 cucumber 😀 straight from Freeman’s website and got a 5$ off coupon and free shipping 😀

  • Laurie

Do you know if this product is available in Canada? If not where would be the best place to get it online?

    tks

    • the Muse

sorry laurie not sure but hopefully a fellow canadian will reply and help!

    • Grace

I have the same problem. I just checked out the selection of Freeman products at Superstore and they didn’t have this one.

  • Grace

I’ve never seen this one before! Even though the blackness of it initially scared me, I think I’d like to give it a try!
I currently use the Strawberry and Chocolate facial mask by Freeman and I adore it!

  • Trina

I love this stuff! I bought two bottles online (decided to chance it since I love most of the freeman masks!) and Im glad I did because it works so well! I like it more than st.ives. I use it every other day when I shower hehe.

  • Avalith

I know Origins have their charcoal mask and I’ve been meaning to try that one out but its price kept me at bay. I am so dying to try this one out!

  • Jackie

I’ve been stalking your blog for for so long, but never commented. Hi!

I absolutely LOVE Coal Face by Lush, but the bar stained everything, so I grudgingly stopped using it. Plus, Lush was so far away, and ordering from their online site is slow and expensive, so, meh… But when I did use it, people noticed. I would call it my Holy Grail cleanser if only it wasn’t so messy!

Enter this blog post. Thank you thank you thank you for the heads up on this mask. It’s JUST what I’ve been searching for! 🙂

    • the Muse

hi jackie! *waves* stains my shower like crazy too! literally have to get out the soap scum spray after using it lol! totally can relate. and agreed, they shipping $$ and the slowness sucks and I don’t like shopping in store (everyone handling everything EW)…! I am so HAPPY to hear it. Did you try MAC volcanic ash too btw? that stuff is off the hook!

  • Roselle

I used the small individual packet last night! Love it! I need to find it in a whole tube. My face felt cleaner and softer than ever!

  • Corrine

Nope. Nope. Nope. I used this after reading all of the rave reviews and it was just too harsh. Far more harsh than St. Ives. It feels like a body scrub. It left me raw and with a new breakout and I don’t have sensitive skin.

  • Jessie

I just bought some this week. I love it! It doesn’t smell like cucumbers to me though. More like a Cologne (closer towards CK1). But smells amazing and feels amazing. Not sure if it should tingle, but I like the tingle. I only bought it since Walmart doesn’t have an Equal brand if the Garnier charcoal wash stuff. I wanted that one bc I had a free sample and loved it. But I’m cheap. So I bought this mask instead. I’m glad I did. 🙂 I have sensitive skin, but as long as I don’t scrub too hard, it doesn’t bother me.
