Holika Holika Miracle Real Skin Finish Premium 1

If you enjoyed my Holika Holika Miracle Real Skin Finish you might be interested in hearing about Holika Holika Miracle Real Skin Finish Premium formula.

The original Miracle Real Skin Finish comes in an oily and combination/dry skin formula. This version acts as a sunscreen, primer, whitening makeup, and sunscreen all in one.

Now bring in the Premium version and Holika Holika adds in anti-aging ingredients as well as a higher sunscreen for a beefier formula.

Which version do I prefer?

Holika Holika Miracle Real Skin Finish Premium

As you know from my prior review I liked the Holika Holika Miracle Real Skin Finish but I recommended you go with the new Etude House Baby Choux instead due to the fragrance of Holika Holika’s version. I also felt like Baby Choux had a far nicer finish and feel.

I still stand by that but I did want to review the Premium version of this product none the less.

Ok, first things first….what’s the difference between the regular and Premium versions. Both are whitening, both brightening, both have sunscreen, and both act as a makeup or a primer.

The main difference is the Premium version contains SPF 35 versus 25 and contains a host of anti-aging ingredients including niacinamide. These anti-aging ingredients are unfortunately lower on the list so there aren’t huge amounts in the formula which means switching up for the Premium formula, at a higher cost, probably won’t gain you much.

Strangely enough I like the original formula better!

This formula comes in a pump up jar versus the twist top jar of the regular version. The packaging is superior as the product remains fresher this way. This has the old style Kate Somerville pump jar…not sure how many folks are familiar with that jar but you basically squeeze both sides of the top and product flows into a tiny spout located on the top portion of the jar. Kinda nifty!

Now I’d recommend this for aging, drier skin. I have drier skin myself and I actually felt like the Premium formula was TOO hydrating. It ended up leaving me oily! It was one of the main reasons I disliked it. The texture is creamier and a little denser as well. I love how creamy and rich it is I do not however, like how moisturizing it is. Although my skin sucks up any moisture I can get to it I felt like an hour of wear I was looking and feel incredibly greasy and oily.

Not good.

On the upside it proves just as good brightening skin up and even lightening it with a single application. It’s a pale almost lilac shade so it acts to ease dullness while creating a base for makeup. It does have the same pasty finish on my skin as the original formula but still looks fairly natural with a BB Cream of my choice on top. Unlike the Baby Choux from Etude House I don’t feel comfortable wearing it as makeup but only as a primer for my foundation or BB Cream. However, fairer skin tones might just get away with it as a natural makeup product should they like.

Overall, if you wondering the difference between the regular and Premium versions of Miracle Real Skin Finish this basically gives you the low down. I’d personally go with the less beefier version. Although the Premium has some excellent points including its nicer packaging I didn’t feel like the formula was quite as good as the plain, old regular one which I liked far more.

I’ve seen many E-bayers selling this at close to retail prices.

If you tried it I’d love to hear your thoughts on this or the regular formula!

I was hoping you’d review this. I was so tempted to buy but after you saying it was almost too hydrating I think I’ll go for the original. I’m moving back to Australia soon and the humidity back home makes my skin quite oily.

You’ve just saved me a bunch on wasted products, thanks 😀

oh ella if you’re in a humid climate AVOID avoid AVOID! way to moisturizing 😀 go with the original or the baby choux (which is much better imho) my pleasure 🙂 glad I helped!

Hello again, Muse! Since I have drier skin, I found this formula to be quite soothing. I tried a sample of this stuff under my Skin 79 Beblesh (the pink bottle) and my skin looks positively radiant, smooth and I can’t see my pores. LOL I must be drier than the Sahara because I experienced no shininess throughout the day, although I must add that I did set the Skin 79 BB Cream with a light dusting of powder (I mean light – because if I overdo it, ít’s irritating to my skin) and I didn’t have to touch up at all during the day. My skin felt baby soft to the touch. I haven’t tried the original but this one doesn’t have much of scent which is a plus for me since I tend to react to scented facial products with even more redness and irritation than my dry skin dishes out on a normal day if not treated properly. Haven’t tried the Baby Choux yet but will stay alert to samples. Thanks again for another great review! MM
