It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Anti-Aging Concealing Cream

Many of you requested I review It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Anti-Aging Concealing Cream but technically I don’t have any redness so it seemed pointless to review the product.

BUT I admit it intrigued me. It comes with a tiny kabuki brush for application and I gotta admit instantly though of my favorite Bourjois Mineral Foundation after seeing it. Any foundation you can buff on kinda gets me excited. Granted you can do this yourself with any bb cream or foundation but when I actually see the two products, brush and foundation, sold together, it gets me excited about the coverage options!

Who the heck knows where that mentality comes from but I never claimed I was sane on this blog.

So knowing It Cosmetics track record with excellent coverage I had a funny feel Bye Bye Redness would be awesome. It’s a red neutralizing and correcting cream that helps to conceal redness from rosacea or even scarring, blemishes, irritated skin, sun damage, age scars, etc…they really should even say tattoos because it has THAT much pigment.

Take a look, you can’t live without this product in your life.

So the bad news is..it comes in a single shade of medium creamy beige. The color fits me perfect and I would liken it to the shade of medium in their concealer for your reference. They recommend for use under your makeup or alone but personally I use it as MY foundation.

I would liken the coverage to their concealer and also to products like Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer however, It Cosmetics actually perfected the formula as this is creamier than SSE.

It ships to you with a small slanted kabuki for application, a pot of the makeup, and a little stand to hold both the brush and pot of makeup. Cute right?

Coverage is amazing. This will conceal minor to major problems you have. If you have a birthmark on your face it will do an excellent job of concealing that as well as hiding minor issues like darkness, acne scarring, etc…fact of the matter is the pigmentation is incredible and this brings full coverage to the table. The buffing brush is what really helps to give the product a super airbrushed perfect appearance. A TINY amount, I can’t stress tiny enough, applied to the brush, swirled, and buffed into skin will perfect and create completely flawless coverage with a semi-matte powdery finish. It doesn’t cling to dry areas, it doesn’t accentuate larger pores or uneven skin texture. It does however, have a smooth, stress-free finish on even the unevenest of skin…I have fairly smooth skin and it looks incredible. My friend used it, he has slightly raised areas due to shaving, etc…and it looked just as amazing on him as it did on me. The coverage is flawless.

You have to know when to stop though….as I mentioned a little goes a long way so you don’t want to continue to build and build and build. A little bit, buffed gently into skin is plenty to cover your entire face. Too much and it’ll look bad! And be sure to prep well with moisturizer and a good primer prior to application. Wear time is incredible! I got a good 12 hours out of this without any fading at all and I’m positive it would have continued being fresh and flawless for hours after that if I hadn’t removed!

I think it’s a powerful tool to achieve beautiful skin especially for those who really suffer from major problems like redness and other issues that may make you uncomfortable in your own skin. This is weightless, full coverage at its very best with a formula that applies like a second skin. Although the shade is marketed as a universal color it might be a little too light for tanned or darker complexions but you never know, you might want to check it out anyway, who knows, could work!

I highly recommend trying it. You won’t regret it.

It was too dark for me. 🙁 Loved the texture and the coverage. If she would do a lighter color (think UD Naked .5 or 1.0), it would be my HG!

  • Celine

I do suffer from redness, so this product would be perfect for me! I am ivory when it coems to foundation, so would this work for me?

    • the Muse

i would say the shade leans towards a creamy beige so ivory should be good celine.

  • catazure

I love IT Cosmetics so thank you for this review! I know what I need to order next 🙂

  • Laura H.

This looks like a dream product for me, for I have the reddest face in all the land. If only we could get It Cosmetics in Canada !

    • Barb

I bought “It” cosmetics from tsc.ca . Doesn’t look like they carry this product at the moment but I’d check often… maybe they’ll add it!

  • blueraccoon

This looks so up my alley; I have some redness in my cheeks and some uneven pigmentation on one cheek. But I’m afraid the one shade won’t fit me; their lightest shade of concealer is barely too dark on me. I don’t know whether to try it and hope for the best or just not bother.

    • the Muse

blue someone commented with fair skin said it worked out well 🙂 not sure if that helps but maybe she’ll posted her mac skin tone for you!

  • Julissa

I got really excited about this and than I found out the price, I was like, “ehhhh” .. I don’t know. It’s kind of pricey. 🙁 Maybe I should save up. I really need a good foundation.

    • Rebecca

I thought it was pricey too but waited for the It cosmetics website to get it back in stock. Because it was my first purchase I got 20% off and free shipping cuz I was over $25 so I paid $26.00 fo everything and also received a free mascara sample that was huge in size for a sample. Hope this helps

  • Joan

This was waistlisted on QVC and I didn’t want to wait so I ordered it from the It Cosmetics website. When I got it, I couldn’t believe how small the jar was for the price. Didn’t like the shade or how it went on and looked. Sent it back immediately. I’m finding that I’m not liking too many of the It Cosmetics products, except for the loose powder blush and the lipsticks. The powder foundation is terrible. No matter what I used to apply it….their brush, another brush or a sponge, it just didn’t pick up the product. I thought it was the worst powder foundation I ever tried to use.

    • the Muse

oh no joan we almost always agree on makeup! so sorry to hear it. 🙁 what about the concealer? have you tried? like? dislike? Curious minds! I loved this stuff, just so fab…their powder has a little learning curve, or at least it did for me, it’s really something you have to prep well with prior to application! this though, this is HG ;-D I love this stuff.

    • Angel

Same thing happened to me Joan. That powder foundation was a real quandary…some reviews on the Q had no problem with it. Then there were a bunch like you and me. It’s almost like they shipped a defective batch or something. I tried every foundation brush I owned trying to pick up the product. Sponges, puffs, grrrr. Makeup should not be that frustrating. In the end a dried crust appeared on top. So I used the old packing tape trick to remove the top layer thinking that would help. Nope, just started the whole vicious circle all over again. I would love to try this stuff as I have a lot of redness, but I’ll have to check out the ingredients. If it’s chock full of cones, I’ll have to pass.

  • Suzanne W.

This stuff makes me insane, in the best possible way!! I tried it for the first time only a few days ago and have no idea how Ive done without it until now! I have EXTREME rosacea! And this stuff covers that red rough skin like a dream. My makeup routine time has been cut down by atleast 5 minutes! Im so in love! Thanks for the review! You are spot on with all the deets! Especially the color. I would agree. I compared it to my bye bye under eye in medium and it was exactly the same, color wise. But even as I am truly more of a fair gal it works just fine for me. 🙂

    • the Muse

yayyyyy so happy to hear it suzanne! 😀 I LOVED it and I have no redness ;-D I’m glad to hear it because it does have a bit of beige to it so good to hear it worked on fairer skin ;-D

  • Suselew

I don’t think you’ll see another color, unless Maureen recognizes that this is more than just a redness treatment. In the last presentation on QVC, she kept stressing that this isn’t a foundation, it’s a treatment so I know that is her reaction to the many, many requests on QVC for lighter or darker shades of this “treatment.” Ironically, then she goes on to say you can use this alone. I love the product, but it’s a tad too dark for me so I have had to improvise. I have a lot of redness on my face, but I cannot simply apply it on part of my face. I have changed the brush I am using to apply thinner coverage and then top it with a very light layering of my foundation in the correct color. Maureen would truly have a winner product if she just makes this product in at least 3 colors, with the current product being medium. JMHO

  • Cat

Muse, whats your skin type? Lemming this like whoa, but I am a grease ball!

  • Veronica

I’d love to try this, but I’d worry about it being too warm for me based on the above comment by Robin. Most concealers are a shade too dark but can work with blending – the yellow tones are what wind up being problematic. A cross between NARS Chantilly and Vanilla is more what I need.

  • Trillium

This sounded so exciting and perfect until…only one shade. 🙁 I’m far too fair for this. I wonder why they only make it in one?

  • Sophie

I’m one of the unlucky ones who are uncomfortable in their own skin. 🙁

This sounds like magic! i must try this.

  • xmaseveeve

Hi there! Thanks for the review. Do you use this as your foundation, on its own, or do you still also use their undereye concealer, which I know you love?

I suppose I mean, does this cover undereye circles? Also, do you set it with the finishing powder, to prevent it settling into lines, especialy around the eye?

I’m thinking of getting this concealer, and Benefit Powderflage, which is discontinued but I’ve found a source, because undereye concealer always melts and creases on me.

I was going to get Erase paste for an undereye concealer but you’ve now talked me into this one instead. I like a lot of pigmentation and coverage.

You really are a pubic service, and I never buy makeup without checking with you first. Thank you for your passion!

    • the Muse

      hi eve.

My pleasure. I do not use it under my eyes only on my face as a foundation 🙂 I think it might be too try for using under eyes, I’d def go with a creamy concealer under eyes. I don’t set with powder as my skin is drier and this seems to set fine without. this isn’t a concealer product for under your eyes, it’s for your face. Hope this helps 🙂 thanks so much so glad you enjoy the site.

  • Rebecca

I just got this today after waiting for it to be back in stock and I’m in love. The bye bye redness covers everything. I covered half my face first and what a difference. I don’t even need to wear makeup it looks so amazing. It takes a very little bit. Goes on smooth and doesn’t settle into lines and wrinkles. It dries nicely and isn’t cakey at all. Makes my skin look flawless. Ill never be without it.

  • Marisa

    Hello Muse! :o)

Coverage wise (for breakouts and lots of acne hyperpigmentation)would you recommend this or the CC Cream? My skin is also dry on the cheek area, so I need something that also won’t cling to the dry patches & make them more noticeable. Thanks.

  • Nealey Dozier

This product has completely changed my life, something I have never said before about any makeup! I suffer from couperose (broken capillaries) but otherwise have clear, smooth skin that is sometimes on the dry side. Because of the constant redness, even the fanciest of foundations don’t work for me. Unfortunately I spent a fortune figuring that out.

My wedding is coming up, so I have been slightly obsessed with building the *perfect* makeup arsenal for all the photographed festivities. After seeing your review of Bye Bye Redness along with all the other positive reviews on QVC I decided it was worth a shot. I’m so glad I did!!

Seriously this is my new holy grail, *can’t live without* product. I applied just a tad on my cheeks and nose (the only places that I need full coverage) and buffed it in with my beauty blender, and never has my skin looked so flawless! I’m pretty pale these days and the color still looked great. I lightly dusted my whole face with La Mer powder (a worthy splurge) to finish, along with some Smashbox longwear bronzer and blush. Done and done.

Now I am just terrified about the possibility of this one day getting discontinued! I am thinking I may need to stockpile…

    • the Muse

so happy to hear it nealey 😀 they also have a new bye bye concealer in a similar format ;-D

  • kate

    Muse
I like your reviews on these 2 products this and the one today much better than the on air presentation.
    thanks

Still need actually see the product to make a decision, are they at Ulta yet

    • the Muse

my pleasure kate I’m glad it was helpful 🙂 I’m not sure…Ulta just started carrying it and this is a fairly new product so it might not yet be available at Ulta stores. maybe call your local store and ask? Hope this helps!

  • Tiffany

I’m a 4.0 in the UD naked foundation, would this be too light? wish they would made more shades because this seems like the perfect product for me and I don’t have any it cosmetic retailers near me to swatch!

  • Bailey

Hello! I’ve been looking to try this product, but do you know if it’s silicone or water based? Thank you!

  • Lisa

Hello, Really enjoy these reviews, their great!

I am fair but thought I should try the bye bye redness. If

purchased from itcosmetics.com does it come with the brush for

    application? Thanks!

  • Katie

    Hey Muse!
I know this is an old post but I just bought this product and I’m having trouble finding a good primer for it because I also want to wear it as my foundation. What do you recommend? I can get pretty oily throughout the day, but I don’t mind blotting as long as the makeup holds up/still looks good. Today I tried the Becca Ever-Matte primer and it all just fell apart! 🙁 Thanks!

  • Stacey

Hi all! I just purchased the bye bye redness, along with the bye bye under eye, and bye bye pores. I am not the best with applying make up. I hate the “cake” look appearance of foundation so i’m hoping the bye bye redness correction will do the trick! my question is, do i put the under eye concealer on before or after the bye bye red? And do I apply the bye bye pores before my blush? Sorry for all the questions…just would love to know the sequence of applying the products. Thank you all so much!
