MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick

How are you feeling about the new MAC Surge Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($22)? These lipsticks launched earlier this month and I’ve been testing them the last few days and must say they have a super rich, creamy formula that’s quite incredible.

I know they are a good deal expensive compared to MAC’s regular lipstick range but the formula and texture is superior.

Take a look!

MAC Mineralize Rich Lipsticks

These have a super soft, melty texture with a creamy finish and rich pigmentation. As you know, as I whine about it all day, I don’t really love cream lipsticks but these have an incredible formula. They have a certain slickness that glides onto lips like skates on ice. The texture is positively creamy and very rich feeling. Not to say MAC doesn’t make some very nice lipsticks but I must say these have quite a luxurious texture compared to their normal line.

Coverage is fully opaque on the four colors I tried and produces a high sheen almost glossy finish after application. I will say they are the type of lipstick that will accentuate every single little line or flake on lips. You’ll want to be sure you’re applying on a good surface so be sure to exfoliate lips prior to avoid creating a rather nasty finish. I think they could potentially look bad on finely lined lips as well, they just have that type of formula that wants to settle into every single nook and cranny.

The packaging is a little higher end as well but irritating. These come in a wide barrel black lipstick tube with a magnetic closure. They have a nice weight behind them and a very pleasant, elegant design. However, I find the magnetic closure is both cool and impractical as I notice the cap will come off easily if I just toss them in my bag…! Just seems the cap is a little loose and the magnetic not strong enough to keep the cap safely in place.

Wear time varies but without eating or drinking I can get a nice four hours of wear from these lipsticks.

I think the price point might upset folks who are used to paying considerably less for a MAC Lipstick but the formula is heavenly and does justify that slight increase.

If you love cream lipsticks, I can guarantee you’ll adore MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick.

These are available now at maccosmetics.com as well as MAC counters and locations.

Do you happen to know how Style Surge compares to Cut a Caper or Ever Hip?

  • Mya

These look like they apply smooth! The last one “style surge” really brightens your completion!

Ok I got zero gloss from these. Yet they look glossy on you. Odd. Oh well, C’est la vie.

    • the Muse

i know you disliked ’em D and I can see why! They are a really beautifully creamy but you really need a good base to wear them over otherwise they sit unnaturally and tend to accentuate every single nook and cranny in your lips. It’s more of a high sheen versus being glossy (first pic I am wearing gloss, others I’m not).

they all look lovely but glamour era is craaaaaaaazy pretty on you, makes me wanna try it on right now! reminds me of spiced peaches~

These are totally on my wish list right now! I’m loving that they have a creamy texture since I’m more of a dry lipped type of gal. Elegant Accent is my favorite on you!

    • the Muse

aw thanks dear 😀 you should def grab a few, they are gorgeous!

Hi Muse! These lipsticks look beautiful on you, but it is your skin that is garnering all my attention. Your complexion looks fresh, dewy, and positively radiant! What base and blush are you wearing in the last two photos? So lovely! 🙂

OHHHHHHHHHH I may have to get Style Surge — I’m not crazy about MAC lipsticks, but these look awesome!

I love cream lippies and also, I don’t mind the $22 price tag — I usually buy EL’s lippies…same price.

Lush Life is gorgeous on you! I’m on assignment right now in Hong Kong for the month and actually got to pick up 3 of the Asia exclusive shades and the formula is amazing, all the points you said are the same for me as well. Also the shade names are super adorable!

    • the Muse

oooo don’t make me lem asian exclusives dtan 😀 and lucky you! wish I was in HK! ;-D have fun buy lots of makeup hehe!

I bought the Elegant Accent and I am loving it. I normally wear a lip liner but this has good staying power. I wish I had my other lipstick with me, as there is another one that is a very similar color to this. Just not “mineralized” LOL. Thanks for your posts! Have you tried the Match Master Foundation yet? I obtained a sample and I like it. Very buildable coverage without looking too made up. I only wear foundations if I am going out, as i have oily skin and i have not found one primer/mattifier that works. Other than having to blot every 2 hours.

hi chelsea! Happy to hear it! It’s a nice lipstick isn’t it? I have not, I’m not a mac foundation fan tbh, find them a little too heavy for me 🙁

I adore this lipstick. I have it in Lady at Play. It is by far my favorite lip pie right now. I sampled Elegant Accent and Glamour Era and they are next on my to buy list. I would have never sampled them if I hadn’t fallen in love with Lady at Play, as they didn’t seem like colors I’d normally wear, but they are amazingly wearable.
