Maybelline Striking Peach High Shine Lipgloss Review & Swatches

Maybelline Striking Peach High Shine Lipgloss Spring 2013

Maybelline Striking Peach High Shine Lipgloss is one of six newly launched limited edition shades for Spring 2013. Weeee…! New High Shine Lipglosses everyone throw their hands in their air and scream. Seriously, best drugstore lipgloss evers.

I was quite excited they launched a few more shades as I’m really enjoying those after picking them on their initial release.

Take a look!

Maybelline Striking Peach High Shine Lipgloss

Ok, so you prob don’t need Striking Peach unless your lips are super pale. On me, it’s a bust. It does however, look mighty nice over a lighter shade of coral peach stain………….but the shade in the tube isn’t exactly what I get on my lips. It’s more of a transparent gloss on my pigmented lips.

Le sigh!

But super fair skin types with pale lips will probably be able to get the color to show up nicely.

Lucky you!

The shine factor is slightly exaggerated as the name is misleading but these don’t disappoint formula wise. They have a beautiful plush texture that wears long without being sticky or tacky. Most colors I’ve tried are super vibrant so the sheerness of Striking Peach is a rarity. The gloss wraps around my lips quite nicely and doesn’t migrate.

As gorgeous as the shade is I need a little something under it for the best pop. If you have pigmented lips it’s probably safe to skip it but I do recommend it as a pick up for those with pale lips as it’ll it’ll likely leave behind a very pretty baby peach tint.

Is it just me or does the packaging on these look VERY similar to Estee Lauder’s Lip Glosses? I work in an industry where I see things get private labeled – a lot. So when I see packaging so similar, it raises an eyebrow for me……

You’ve just reminded me, I only have one gloss from this line, and I think it’s one of the better drugstore glosses I own. Right next to Revlons Colorburst, and Rimmels Stay Glossy.

I’d definitely like to check out the new colors! Maybe some of the original ones too.

Did you by any chance experience any staining with the darker shades in this line? Raspberry Reflections stained my lips, though I didn’t realize if they were even marketed as such.

As a fellow pale girl with pigmented lips, which of these are your favorite for daily wear? I work in a conservative office so funny looks abound when my color choices get a little… well, bright! It’s so difficult to tell what’s going to end up garish on me and I would love your input on which to get first!

Oh wow those are so pretty! I’m definitely going to have to check it out after this storm. Bleeeeeech rain and snow

yeah tell me about it, hasn’t started here yet but they say soon :-/ yak!

My lips aren’t THAT pigmented, unless I’ve been aggravating them with lip scrub or biting them. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t and I’ll have a nice gloss either way.

I picked this up today (and Knockout Pearl) after seeing this post. The Striking Peach is a bit sheer but I still like it! I actually don’t think I would have tried these glosses out until I saw your post. Thanks for the great work! 🙂

aw thanks christine! so glad it helped! Def check out ones from the general catalog, they are brilliant! some of the shades are like liquid lipstick!

  • AmandaM

Funny, I just picked this gloss up on a whim last night at CVS…
Thanks for your review 🙂 My lips are on the paler side, so I should be OK (good for my more conservative work environment too). Also, I thought this color may be nice over a lipstick. I agree that the Maybelline High Shine Glosses are fab!
