Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour

I purchased by first Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour several weeks ago. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, “How did you get out of purchasing only one?”

I avoid mineral companies like the plague because I have too much of a OCD personality that demands I collect every single shade they offer. Believe me it was difficult casually browsing OCC Makeup Pigments and coming away from the deal with a purchase of a single pot. I swear after I hit submit on my purchase I broke into a cold sweat and almost turned around the add one of every color into my cart.

Lucky enough I had a little willpower and quickly shut down my browser and powered off my computer. It was a close call…

Take a look!

This purchase was completely spontaneous as I told myself I’d only browser the site but the shade Glisten kept calling to me so I had to get it. This is a beautiful golden shimmering coral which I’m terribly tempted to use as a blush but so far only used on my eyes.

The Loose Colour pots can be used on cheeks, face, lips (mix with clear gloss), or anywhere else your creative mind takes them. I used mine on my eyes below. They have a smooth, easy to apply formula which surprisingly lack any major fall out problems. Typically loose pigments are a picky product to apply but I was delighted how easily Glisten applied on my eyes without falling around my cheeks or under my eyes during application.

For a brand that prides themselves on bold pigmentation I was surprised how sheer Glisten was. It isn’t the popping shade of coral I expected but more of a soft, golden coral sans any hardcore shimmer. I liked the effect it had my eyes as it wasn’t heavy or over done but more of a natural finish with a tiny hint of sparkle.

Overall, I do find these pigments expensive at $14 each as there are a variety of Indie brands which you can probably get a similiar shade from for far less. However, the texture, easy of use, and the color was outstanding.

you look so pretty! and have convinced me that I need this shade. darn!

I’ve actually never tried an OCC product either. I know, it’s terrible. I’ve heard a lot of really wonderful things about their concealer though. I was wondering if you have any plans to give it a try? I would love to hear your thoughts on it. (Since you are a self-proclaimed concealer addict like myself. 🙂 )

    • the Muse

hey lisa! haven’t tried it yet but was planning too 😀 review perhaps shortly? 😀

      • Julia

Oooh, yay!! I’d love a review of the concealer too! I’m considering picking it up at NYC IMATS next week…

  • carrie

Love! Question though…what is the best way to apply loose pigments (to eyes ) ….never have quite gotten the hang of it even though there are sooo many pretty ones out there

i tap a small amount in the lid and use a sponge eyeshadow applicator to press them on my eyes, over some sort of cream base is excellent too like a mac paint pot to avoid fall out.

Muse, you’re too cute! That colour looks lovely. I would be rocking it as a blush all the way. I’ve been wondering about OCC and Glamour Doll Eyes for awhile. As for OCC will you be trying any of the Lip Tar? I haven’t met anyone who has ever tried it and would love to read your review of them.

    • the Muse

hi chelsea thanks 🙂 <3! I doubt it, lip tar looks gross to me, WAY too thick and the colors are all cream 🙁 maybe in the future....just out of curiosity but I have a feeling I'll hate it 🙁

I would love to read a review of their Lip Tar product. I like that they are a vegan company, but the one Lip Tar shade I’ve tried was way too bright and didn’t last as long as promised. Before I try again, it would be great to get your opinion, Muse.

    • the Muse

linda I never tried them because I suspect I’ll hate them. They look SO thick and the colors very unflattering 🙁 most are cream and I look like a zombie in cream….perhaps at some point will pick up a shade at Sephora and give it a whirl but I have a feeling I won’t love ’em 🙁

I own five Lip Tars (Memento and the first “Pro’s Picks” set that Sephora released) and I am OBSESSED with them.
The colors apply true to what you see in the tube, so the bright shades really are bright. The two more “subdued” colors I have (Memento and Melange) aren’t all that bright imo.

Muse, maybe you could try applying less of the product to not have the color look as thick?

So upset that the price skyrocketed to $18 a pop though. I remember when they were $12…

      • the Muse

I haven’t tried it jenna, so can’t really say if thick or thin it would look good 🙂 I’m just assuming that they look really thick to me…I’ll def try ’em at some point 🙂 they sound promising! yeah, prob bc of the Sephora deal 🙁

I think I need to stop reading your blog tonight because my check book keeps getting smaller and smaller and smaller. I’m a lip tar fan not a piggie fan because I hate the lack of layering and blendability with so many and here you go saying this formula is great. Gee thanks mrs-let-me-make-you-drool-and-go-broke-muse. JK I won’t quit reading.

hehe sorries! you know who else does an awesome one, Medusa, they have great loose piggies…oops was that your credit card screaming? 😀
