Wet n Wild Nude Awakening Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette 2

The new Wet n Wild Nude Awakening Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette is one of two eight pan palettes that Wet n Wild has introduced for a limited time for Spring 2013.

I admit I’m a little hit and miss with Wet n Wild ColorIcon Palette. Sometimes they are a little too frosty, shimmery, and have major fall out but I would so like to tell you that tracking down Nude Awakening is worth the effort as this has an excellent formula on the cheap!

Wet n Wild went with some special packaging for this release as instead of the standard black compact this is a solid white with cute little flowers surrounding the top portion. It’s quite cute but is made of plastic so you won’t want to travel with it as it will likely break if you aren’t careful. I located the palette at Harmons for $4.99 and taking the quality into consideration that’s quite a nice deal.

At a glance I thought this reminded me of the Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone. But actually Comfort Zone contains warmer shades of brown and green versus Nude Awakening which contains lighter nudes combined with smokier blacks and grays.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette Nude Awakening

As I mentioned above I’ve had both good and bad experiences with the 8 pan palettes. Some have terrible fall out with a very frosty, shimmery formula. Pigmented yes but all that frost is a big no for me at times. Nude Awakening proves a hit as the colors are softer without a chunkier flakier formula so you can smooth application sans major fall out. These have a satin finish sans any frost of major shimmer. They quite remind me of Stila Eyeshadows as they have that buttery velvety feel much like a powder to cream formulation. They blend very easily onto lids and work well together when creating eye looks so shades don’t go muddy when combined. They do need primer to wear well as they’ll crease and fade after a few hours of wear so a primer is an excellent way to keep them intense and crease-free as the day progresses.

The palette contains a diagram and small instructions in the back to achieve two eye looks. Each shade is imprinted with where each shade goes on your eye as well. The left hand side of the palette (what I used for my look) is made up of a creamy beige and three graduating shades of black with the right side having warmer richer chocolates, gray, and black.

Overall, I had an excellent experience with Nude Awakening. For a palette this price you can’t go wrong! Colors are super pigmented, blend easily, and work well together to create some pretty or intense eye looks!

Muse Approval for this one.

Note: Apologies for my out of control brows 🙂 I’m just letting them grow in a little before heading in for a threading.

Anyone own it?

What was your experience like with it?

That’s very pretty. Are you going to review the other palette too?

  • Christina

I bought this yesterday, however i am returning it because it seems vaguely like the Urban Decay 1 palette. It is really really lovely, I just don’t need it.

    • Christi

Isn’t it only like $4.99 tho? Might not be worth the gas to drive to the store to return it =)

    • B3beautybyblanca

I’m wondering where I can find them,I’ve been to a few drugstores but haven’t seen them

  • Caroline

Ahh I’m so excited about these limited edition WnW palettes! I haven’t found them at my Walgreens yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks so much for the review and swatches! 🙂

  • JayJ

Great post! WnW is hit or miss for me as well, but for the price I keep coming back. They always blend into a mess for me (user error, perhaps?) or crumble. Your review was awesome, I’ll def check them out!

    • the Muse

jay I THINK you’ll be happier with this one. Formula seems smoother, softer, less flaky and chunky shimmer/frost ;D

    • the Muse

thanks victoria! maybe check out bed, bath, and beyond beauty section?

  • yelena

DROOL! need to find these asap!

    anyone spot them at walgreens/cvs

  • Teresa

I love that this contains smokier colors too! I hope I can score this one! I was unsuccessful with the last collection WnW collection.

  • Alisha Badillo

Haha about the brows cuz I sure was looking at them 😉 Hope I am able to find that palette!!

  • Lisa

    Hi,
Where did you find yours? They are kind of MIA in OH and haven’t yet made an appearance at Wal Mart or CVS yet. Thank you!!

  • Lisa

Just saw the suggestion about Bed Bath and Beyond- I would have never thought of that!

  • blueraccoon

I am still so bummed I missed the WnW holiday palettes, so I grabbed both of the spring ones as soon as I saw them at my local Fred Meyer (northwest chain). I love the packaging with the flowers, it’s really cute.

  • Simone

Wahh! I need this so bad!
I’ve got Naked 2 & Naked Basics, and have been convincing myself I don’t need the original Naked, so I’m hoping this could satisfy my craving!

Off the top of your head, do you see any similarities to Naked (in color selection more so, than pigmentation/quality)?

    Thanks so much Muse!

    • the Muse

pigmentation possibly texture not really and quality no 🙂 shades are kinda sorta similiar but not exact dupes 🙂 hope this helps!

  • Shelby

These better come to Canada, I swear! I’m still so bitter about missing out on the christmas ones.

  • Stephanie

I wish they would have this in canada 🙁 they never have these new collections in canada 🙁

  • amy

I love WnW 8-pans, but the colors are just too similar to UD Naked 1, which I also love, but doesn’t get too much attention, so I can’t justify prowling for this one. That said, if one happens to pop up during one of my frequent DS trips, I’m sure I’ll grab it, LOL.

OT, but have you come upon the neutral Milani palettes? They look really pretty, but unless the quality is there, I’m skipping. I bought some several years back, and they were awful, but from what I hear, they’ve improved lately.

    • the Muse

amy I haven’t tried the new ones but have had the same experience as you, not that great, so wasn’t sure if I should bother with the new ones myself!

  • Tori

I got two of the Limited Edition kits at my local Walgreen’s today… They’re the Flora and Fauna Collections. I’m kind of excited to test them out, but I wish I could find this palette too. Next day off, I think I’m going to go check my local BBB! 🙂

  • Blondelle

Gorgeous colors and pigmentation but a curious selection of colors for spring. I’m buying it and putting it away for fall. They are really more fall and winter colors to me. They seem too dark and heavy for spring. I prefer the other palette in this collection for spring.

  • pickygal29

I have been trying to find these everywhere with no luck :(. i didnt even see them on the wnw website. and we dont have a harmons here. hope they release them soon!

  • Jade

Growing out your eyebrows is the worst huh?? I did it over the last 9 months, it was terrible at times! Wow am I glad I did though!

  • Lisa P.

Wasn’t looking for it, but stumbled across this at CVS a few days ago in their special displays section. Thus far I’ve resisted the (spl)urge to shell out for the Naked 1, but when I wear the whole left side of this palette as detailed (with the definer color used to deepen the outer V), it LOOKS like I’m wearing the Naked palette.

Also I think this is the first WnW shadows that I’ve seen that don’t contain parabens. Hope they’re gonna start moving in that “healthier” direction with ALL their products. *thumbs up*

  • Rebekah

I have yet to see these pop up in my local drugstores, but I have a feeling I will be grabbing them as soon as I do. I keep enjoying WnW eyeshadow. You can’t beat the price and the quality is so surprisingly lovely!

  • sarah
