Dr. Jart Detox Healing Blemish Base BB Cream Review & Swatches

Dr. Jart Detox Healing Blemish Base BB Cream

Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Healing Blemish Base BB Cream is one of the more upscale BB Creams you can get in Korea. This particularly formula supposedly acts as both a concealer and base all in one while perfecting skin, offering basic sun protection, and evening out skin tone.

Take a look!

Contrary to the name there isn’t anything healing about this formula nor does it contain ingredients that heal skin. Although it is supposed to treat blemishes somehow, it doesn’t really contain the ingredients to back that up so don’t expect to purchase it and have it act as a skincare as well as a base. It is recommended for blemish prone skin and supposedly treats blemishes without irritating sensitive skin.

This is however, BB Cream at its best formula wise. This is a very thick, creamy formula which blends easily onto skin leaving behind a semi-matte finish that covers minor to medium issues on skin such as dark spots, age spots, acne scarring, redness, etc….coverage is sheer to medium depending how much you apply and offers a flawless, even finish.

That’s the great thing about Asian BB Creams they offer incredible coverage and an airbrushed appearance which looks natural on skin and is incredibly lightweight. I use a palming method to apply the BB Cream onto my face and this allows breathable, sheered out coverage to ease my dullness and perfect my skin. I’m not looking to conceal or hide anything as my skin is perfectly fine as is. I am however, looking to ease my lackluster skin and dullness, perfect it for makeup, and create the look of natural skin.

The joy of BB Creams is the fact they are never greasy or oily feeling no matter how thick, rich and creamy they are. This has offers opaque coverage without feeling like a mask or over hydrating skin the way a tinted moisturizer might be guilty of.

It is a whitening formula with temporary whitening benefits but not long term ones. The shade does have strong pink undertones but should be suitable for lighter to medium skin tones just not those with tanned or darker tones or even those with strong warm undertones. It’s a smidge to light for me at first application but quickly adjusts as it sets and looks perfect once makeup is applied. Generally it does continue to look lighter through the wear but that would because it whitens during the wear. This may or may not scare you. It’s not a pasty, unnatural look but the whitening is an temporary effect through the wear.

Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Healing Blemish Base BB Cream Swatches

As with most good BB Creams I don’t have issues with it wearing away or fading. It typically lasts a solid eight hours for me without fading, oxidizing, or looking like it needs a touch up!

Overall, Dr Jart Detox Healing Blemish Base BB Cream is one of the more upscale and beautifully textured BB Creams you’ll find around however, it’s a product that takes time and patience to apply correctly. It is a frustrating BB Cream at first application as you have to get just the right amount onto skin during application. Too much and it looks unnatural, too little and you’re not enjoying all the benefits it can offer….however, this slight learning curve is well worth it as the coverage is flawless and beautiful when applied correctly.

Sasa.com sells most of Dr Jart’s Korean line and of course, Sephora carries some of Dr Jart’s more popular products unfortunately this black label hasn’t yet made it to the US.

Anyone use this?

Do share your experience with it!

I purchased this item.

Try using a stippling brush 🙂 I find that this works best with BB creams especially to control coverage.

PS. If you’re trying out Asian CC creams, just a bit of a warning, Etude’s too sheer so Nature Republic is a better choice although Tony Moly is launching it’s own too. 🙂

hi beauty beat, I typically palm on or apply with fingers 😀 best way for me. I didn’t even know Etude House had a CC Cream interesting 🙂

Yup étude has 2 types, silky and glow launched about 2 weeks ago. Silky has a more runny texture although glow has a very light feel to it too. You might like it though if you’re not after any coverage as it does an excellent job of just brightening up one’s face. I don’t even look like I have anything on my face even under direct sunlight with the silky plus it doesn’t transfer. I wouldn’t believe I put anything if my cotton didnt get tainted after using it with makeup remover!

oooooooooooooooo sounds good! I typically follow them on twitter and they always have pics and such of their new launches but didn’t see them tweeting this year (or I didn’t notice). It sounds VERY much like something I’d love 😀 sounds promising! thanks Beauty Beat! ;-D

It does contain Arbutin, which *should* lighten dark spots over time. At least my tube does, not sure of the difference between the Korean formula and the U.S./Sephora formula.

    • the Muse

this doesn’t contain arbutin but would be nice if it did however arbutin is a tricky lightening ingredient as you have to be really diligent and patient with it to see any noticeable change.

      • Jane

We must have a different formulation? My tube looks exactly the same but has arbutin listed in the ingredients, I’m looking at it right now, and Sephora states on their website that theirs contains arbutin too. I do def agree that you have to use it every single day to see results though.

        • the Muse

odd. got it directly as a cp from korea. nothing about arbutin here :-/ I’d appreciate the arbutin ;-D

    • the Muse

seems they have different ingredients cait, haven’t tried the one at Sephora just the Korean version.

  • Christi

That’s strange, I thought Sephora did carry this one. They have a black label detox healing bb by Dr. jart on their site. I haven’t tried this one yet, I’m trying to stop by bb cream addiction…not going so well tho, as now I’m becoming interested in Asian CC Creams!

  • Jessica

This is the first BB cream I’ve tried that doesn’t end up too dark/cool after it oxidizes on my skin! I love it but I find it to be kind of sheer, so I’ve been on the lookout for something similar but with more coverage.

I also really hate the cap – mine has that stupid funnel-lip thing going on, to prevent spills, but the product is too thick to need it so it just gets stuck inside 😐 I end up having to unscrew the cap to apply it without wasting product, or digging my finger into the cap haha. The tube I have looks different from yours though – maybe they changed the packaging? Does yours have a better cap? *hopeful*

  • blueraccoon

Do you think this would be light enough for fair skin tones Muse? It looks fantastic but I’m worried it’d be too dark for me.

  • Maggie

This is very interesting. You say it WHITENS as you wear it? I normally experience darkening with wear due to oxidation (I have combo-oily skin). I will have to try this at some point
