Flower Beauty Lip Service Lip Butter Review & Swatches

Flower Beauty Lip Service Lip Butter

Although not the best lip butter I’ve tried in recent months I must admit to some obsession with the Flower Beauty Lip Service Lip Butter. Flower Beauty is Drew Barrymore’s new budget brand of cosmetics available at Walmart and Walmart.com. With this extensive collection of cosmetics they launched some very on trend products of the moment such as BB Cream, a chunky lip crayon, and these Lip Butters.

I think the Flower Lip Service Lip Butters ($6.98) are one of the items I was the most excited about as I’m on a kick with lip crayons and butters.

Take a look!

These come in a chunky curved tube which at a glance is quite slick and nice looking however, I’ve since realized they are a tad bulky and difficult to store. I think Drew did an excellent job with the packaging on many of these products and they have a mid-range brand feel and look! However, after using the lip butters I soon realized they take up a ton of space in my makeup bag and aren’t very neighborly with my other lipsticks so they have to be stored in their own drawer and/or bin.

These come in nine shades and promise a buttery texture with a plumping effectand emollient oils for hydrating. Unfortunately they aren’t terribly hydrating or moisturizing and have a rather thicker texture which makes itself known when worn. I’ve heard some folks describe the texture as gritty and uneven but I personally didn’t experience that.

They applied very well with an even non-patchy finish that doesn’t migrate of feather. I think the lack of moisture is a little disappointing on some levels but at least they aren’t drying through the wear or sucking any moisture from my lips.

The texture is difficult to describe….they aren’t balm nor do they have a traditional lipstick or lip cream feel. They have a little bit of a silicone-y grip on lips that wraps them in a layer of color. It isn’t an uncomfortable layer but it is a heavier texture on my mouth and lacks the weightlessness I get with other lip butters or balms. Pigmentation is excellent and each shade I purchased and tried offered full opaque coverage.

I have to express my intense dislike for the fact these do not have a label on the bottom of the tube with a name. Each one features a peel off label to open the balm and this in fact includes the name but once you rip that away you have no way of knowing what the shade is called as they aren’t labeled anywhere else. Annoying!

Overall, there were some hiccups here but I have to say I did like them. They aren’t really a lip butter product but more of a low calorie lipstick with plenty of pigmentation. A little more moisture would gain them a Muse Approval because outside of that they seem a rather great budget pick.

lol I was literally holding these in the store only an hour ago wondering if I should try one
Ultimately I decided to check your blog first
    You are ridiculously convenient!!

hehe miho…honestly, at this price, I’d totally try one. they aren’t half bad at all!

  • Angela

Love these, and I’ve been wearing Princess and the Peony always every single day.

  • Maggie

How do these compare to the Revlon Lip Butters in formula/texture?

    • the Muse

they aren’t as balmy maggie or as light. the texture is thicker and more of a lipstick versus a balm.

I’ve been cutting Flower labels in half. I would just snip the label you’ve peeled up in the photo and stick it right on the cap. (The nail polishes are the same, but they do also have clear name stickers on the bottoms.) I love Princess and the Peony!

Do you know if Flower is available in Canada? I haven’t seen it in any of the Wal-Marts I have been to!

This look cool, I have to stop coming to your site, you always show stuff I can’t have :C It makes me depressed. I was suprised by Mauve Mimosa, I didn’t like the color on the tube but on your lips it looks amazing. And Cherry Chiffon O.O stuning!!!!!! you look hot with it 😉

aw shucks thanks Joana very flattered 😀 <3! how about ebay?! I imagine there is a seller or two that has some of the flower line 🙂

    Muse
You look so springlike in your peach headband. I like Princess and the peony on you the best but they all seem like fun

Hey muse! I’m kinda of scared of buying things online. We have a store called O BOTICÁRIO that has some lip balms that are the same as those very pigmented and hydratating. Love those 😉 already have 3 can’t get enough of them 🙂

  • Sarah S.

I just bought Sheer Snapdragon and it has the name on the bottom! They must have heard your complaint, Muse 😉

Did anybody else have trouble with the packaging of these lip butters? I can’t keep the lid on! 😩
