Flower Petite Fleurs Pocket Triplets

How cute are these Flower Petite Fleurs Pocket Triplets Lipstick? These brought me back to my childhood when I used those old colored pencils with the multi-colored bullets. Remember those?

The idea is simple with these Petite Fleurs Pocket Triplets, you have a small bullet shaped tube with three colors inside. You pop one shade out, slide it through the bottom of the barrel and the second shade will pop up in its place.

Cute right? And so retro.

Here’s a few thoughts on these.

Ugh, not good. These are actually awful. I expected them to be a sheerer tinted lip product or balm of some sort. I didn’t expect them to be so terribly drying. Each barrel contains three shades of color and although small the idea was kinda appealing as who doesn’t want three lip colors in such a space saving design right? However, the packaging is potentially messy as you have to be sure the lippie doesn’t hit the sides of the barrel when you change the shade. I also had issues putting the top back on without smooshing the lipstick. It’s just a tricky packaging that doesn’t have a ton of space to move around in thus issues might pop up.

At $6.98 they are a super deal and quite pigmented as well however, outside of the excellent opaque coverage I wasn’t terribly impressed with the formula of the lipstick. Two of the three shades have a cream finish and one has a sort of iridescent finish going on. All three are VERY heavy on lips and look and feel quite dry. The formula resembles old lipstick. It applies with a bit of tugging, looks patchy, uneven, and like I was playing with my mother’s lipstick and applied it ALL wrong. Gloss on top does give the lipstick a better finish but on a whole they just look terribly bad and as I said really, really dry.

I actually expected them to be sheerer with a light formula and a more moisturizing finish. That would have probably been better. But this formula, as is, needs some serious work. I’m a little surprised as Flower has had some excellent offerings which I’ve been slowing reviewing but unfortunately these were a sore miss.

Skip ’em!

Tried ’em?

If so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Sad these are a miss as I remember the pop pencils. You should follow the kids of the 80s facebook page. They posted sweet valley high books the other day? Remember those? if you need the link let me know.

Yours is the first review I’ve seen for these.. and when the line launched they (and the similar eye crayons) were one of the products I found most interesting. Poor Flower.. seems like so many of the products are just not “quite” right.. great concepts.. pretty packaging.. poor execution.

    • the Muse

me too, I thought they might be a sheer moisturizing product but unfortunately not 🙁

  • Lyn

Is it just that tiny little half-sphere of product that you get for each color? They can’t be sharpened or twisted up, right? That doesn’t even seem like a good deal for $7 – like 90% of the cost is the complicated packaging.

Why a shame. I’m a huge sucker for novelty and was really hoping to justify getting one of these. Oh well :/

Such a shame that it’s a messy product when it looks cool and unique in the first place!

I do remember that colored pencils that you are talking about. It’s not only colored pencils because there are also small erasers and pencils that come in bullets. In the Philippines, we call them “Magic Pencils” and they were popularly used by children during the ’90s. They are still being sold in the bookstores, if I’m not mistaken, but only a few would buy them anymore. And every child will get frustated once he or she lost one of the bullets.

I remember those pencil things! I had a ton and would play with them in school for coloring and stuff. Oh the memories. I feel like I had a scented eraser version too… such an 90s kid…

  • Abbi

Shame about the lipstick, I was all excited! I STILL have a Hello Kitty colored pencil right next to my bed that I got when I was a kid in the 80’s but never liked then, well I do now and use the heck out of it to mark up a little book I keep, it has two pencils that go into one top with one long eraser and one pencil is in colors and one is all regular pencil bits!!

  • Abbi

Lol, yea I was a child hoarder, now it’s with makeup!!! JK, mostly 😉

  • Abbi

Exactly that stuff!!! But I couldn’t use it, I had to keep it new so now I still I have it and I’m finding it all and using it now, lol, I have mostly Hello Kitty and Twin Star stuff, sooo funny 🙂
