Flower Secret Service Cover-Up Review & Swatches

Flower Secret Service Cover-Up

Flower Beauty has a few concealers I’ve wanted to try especially at these great prices. One of those is the Flower Secret Service Cover-Up available in four shades it promises a lightweight vitamin rich formula plus the incredible under $8 price tag makes it quite appealing.

Did it work?

Flower has been a hit with me so far. I’m surprised. I didn’t know what to expect from this collection and yes, I had my doubts that any makeup line available at Walmart might be uneventful (I’m being nice there!). But it actually has some impressive offerings and thus far I’ve been quite happy with what I’ve tried.

Unfortunately Flower Secret Service Cover-Up Concealer happens to be a miss for me. This doesn’t mean it won’t work for you as the formula isn’t all bad. It just isn’t a formula I personally like.

This comes in four shades and I ended up purchasing the darkest as the colors appeared to run a bit lighter. And so far my experience with Flower’s base products had me choosing the darker shade since many of their offerings are either too pale or too yellow. This I went with the darker shade here. Unfortunately, it isn’t a good color for me however, it didn’t prevent me from testing it none the less.

This comes in a simple lipgloss packaging with sponge tip applicator for application. The formula is a thinner emollient concealer that blends out easily and offers sheerer coverage. The formula applies very easily without a hiccup and it doesn’t crease into finer liners through the wear. I didn’t love the texture as it has a dewier dry down which fades after an hour or two of wear and offers very little coverage for my darker circles, fine lines, and puffiness.

I personally need more coverage with a formula that’s longer lasting. I do think Secret Service is a good starting concealer for a younger girl who doesn’t have need for heavier under eye coverage or one who needs a concealer for basic spot coverage. This has a moisturizing, easy to apply formula however, the shorter wear and lack of coverage killed it for me.

Oh well!

Can’t always have hits I guess!

Anyone try it?

Do share!

Flower is available exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com

I purchased this item.

Oh gods, I’m just starting to use concealer and I feel like I have a long road ahead of me before I find one that really works for me…. 🙁 It’s kinda sucky because I’d much rather throw my limited cash at stuff I find “fun,” like lipsticks, blushes, etc.! But I know all those things won’t look good on me if I can’t conceal my dark circles. Boo. 🙁

I’m so with you on this; I can’t find a concealer I really like, and my collection keeps growing. Part of it I think is that I’m not very good at applying it, so I need something that’s idiot-proof. My latest purchase is the NARS radiant creamy concealer, and I rather like it, so maybe that’ll be the one to help me out.

just interrupting but Mally has a new concealer I just ordered from the Q ;-D hoping for good things 😀

        • blueraccoon

I will look forward to your review then and hope for the best *g* I’m also thinking of picking up Bobbi Brown’s creamy concealer and corrector during the F&F sale.

GOOD choice…! her corrector/concealer are awesome!

      • Vi

Yeah, concealer application is kind of tricky: too much and it looks cakey and unnatural, too little and it doesn’t cover what you want it to…. I have heard good things about the NARS creamy concealer; apparently it doesn’t settle into lines or crease, which is nice. I might have to swallow the price tag and try it sometime. Hey, better to get one awesome high-end product that works than to spend just as much on drugstore stuff and end up with a whole stash that I hate, right? XD

I think finding a good concealer is a difficulty on par with finding your HG foundation. I have (very) dark circles, the occasional touch of redness in my cheeks, and the rare hormone-induced blemish to care for, and I’ve yet to find a concealer that can deal with all of these effectively. Goodness knows I’ve got plenty laying around for trial purposes. 😛

if you did not like it, return it and get your money back! i did it without a reciept with physcians formula heart blushe/bronze because no color came out and the package says it is scented like lilac…$13 back in my pocket ha! went to the chinese beauty supply got me 4 colors blushes extremely pigmented… $4 lol

    • the Muse

      i don’t think I can 🙁 walmart doesn’t take returns on used makeup…or am I nuts?

      • Cindy Ramirez

I’m pretty sure they do! I returned some hard candy concealer not that long ago. They didn’t give me any trouble about it.

          • Tinkibell

I literally just returned this exact product to Wal-mart today! And I even returned it to a different store than I purchased it from, as my local store doesn’t carry the Flower line.

They just scanned my receipt and I got my money back. I also returned a couple of the tinted lip pencils…loved the color but just could NOT deal with the glitter!

I returned the concealer for the same reasons you didn’t care for it. Although as a ghostly pale chick, I do appreciate the lighter, pink toned products the line has.

I love the lip glosses, and Lash Knockout mascara from this line!

          • the Muse

thanks tink! gonna try 😀 oh no sorry to hear it. I agree, she does have some solid lighter shades in this collection! which is rare. I haven’t tried any of the mascaras yet…the glosses, for some reason, I didn’t get on with well at all 🙁 they seemed so dry!

        • the Muse

i remember bringing something back, can’t recall what, and they made a big ado about it and I had the receipt

          • Ruth

if they give you any crap, stare ’em down! you’re the big, bad a@@ muse, you don’t gotta take any of their sh!t!

          • Christi

No, u can absolutely return used cosmetics to Walmart! And I totally agree with u on this one, I also really like the Flower products I’ve tried, but this was a huge miss for me as well. It has very little coverage, and wears off quickly, and I don’t even have oily skin, I’m normal to dry! I also have the brightening, clicky pen concealer, which is equally unimpressive. Can’t win me all I guess lol. Have u tried the tinted moisturizer from this line? I love it, the formula is beautiful. It doesn’t have SPF, but I wear sunscreen underneath anyway. It has 11 shades, which is very impressive for a DS TM. I also love the lip butters, lipsticks, & creme blushes, (which i know u luv too:). With their bb cream, while it’s not even close to an Asian one, i actually like the formula and coverage, plus the fact that BB1 is actually pale enough for me! (nc15) I also like the foundation, it’s great for dry skin, and has 14 shades, which is pretty darn good for DS. It’s a luminous, healthy finish, but no sparkles or anything. I also like 2 of the eyeshadow quads. The tinted moisturizer is my fav tho from the whole line!

          • the Muse

thanks christi gonna try ;-D thanks for telling me as the click pen was my next purchase! I haven’t but did love the BB Cream 😀 I like the lip butters too! I haven’t tried the foundation but sounds VERY promising, likey a luminous finish ;-D thanks for the mini reviews here, adding stuff to my list!

  • Cj

I am still loving the foundation, and the blushes are pretty amazing too. All in all a really good line for something you get in walmart lol.

  • Cindy Ramirez

I’m so upset that neither of my local wal-marts have any of the Flower collection!

  • BeautyMaven

I liked this one…. once I put powder over it! I really didn’t enjoy the dewy finish. Maybe couldn’t been a good concealer if it was more matte, but yeah… I agree with you on it being less than impressive.

I had the problem with the color, too!! They looked SO LIGHT in the packaging, it was hard to pick. I’m normally the next to lightest shade with drugstore face makeup so I went with that one… the color worked well for me, just not the formula.

I wonder if she’s gotten any flack for not having many darker-end shades.. Maybe seeing if it’s popular before expanding?

I tried the other flower concealer in the twist up with the brush and agree with you that it is perfect for a young girl!
