Holika Holika Real Butter Lip Balm Review
Well, Holika Holika Real Butter Lip Balm is the worst kind of packaging but I purchased it anyway because it brings me back to my makeup roots with its cute vintage slide packaging.
I dunno about you but lip slides like this were all the rage in my childhood. As we get older we begin to realize they are a germ-fest but when we’re young, for some reason, our innocent selves absolutely love the idea of a lip balm in a slide out tin. Shrug…who knows where that mentality comes from but even in older age they are still terribly appealing.
I expected to slide this little tin open to reveal a pat of butter inside. They remind me of those little butter packages that come with your carb basket at a restaurant. Holika Holika introduced them in butter, milk (vanilla) and strawberry flavors recently. I only purchased one because honestly, carrying these around and dipping my fingers into them to apply is terribly unappealing. I keep the one I have on my end table and apply it before bed in the evenings.
Supposedly it contains pure vegetable butter….I doubt it but it’s fun thinking I’m smearing butter on my lips *shrug* I’m easily amused and find joy in the little stuff.
It has a dense to the touch texture at first but warms up on contact with fingers (and lips) and turns into a slippery, lip oil-like, emollient lip balm. The formula softens my lips, aids flakes and redness from chapped lips, and hydrates quite nicely with a buttercream-like flavor.
I think I paid like a $2 bucks after converting from Won to USD but Evil-bayers have them for around four to five dollars each. Not sure you absolutely need to indulge considering the wonky packaging but I will admit they have a hell of a nice formula that soothed my dry, chapped lips with plenty of moisture!
Anyone try?
