Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream

Summer will be the season of the CC Cream and Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream is one of several new CC Creams I’ve been testing out this month.

Lorac’s new CC Cream ($28) is available in three shades and promises a six in one formula that neutralizes, primers, moisturizers, brightens skin up, and soothes it.

Let’s take a look!

I don’t mind that Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream lacks SPF as I typically apply my own sunscreen even when CC Creams/BB Creams have their own built in sunscreen however, this could be a deal breaker for some. I’m kinda surprised they didn’t put some sunscreen into this formula and maybe even a little bit shocked. I think with any CC Cream or BB Cream formula we expect the product to go the distance and that distance includes some sort of SPF.

Outside of this Lorac has created a very, very interesting CC Cream formula.

I would recommend this for drier skin and combination skin types however, it might prove a little too moisturizing for oily skin. It seems like the type of product I’d enjoy using in the cooler weather but not the warmer due to the amount of moisture it provides and continues to provide through the wear. It contains hyaluronic acid which not only provides moisture to thirsty skin but helps it to retain hydration so it’s kinda the moisture ingredient that keeps on giving. This is in fact why the formula of this CC Cream is so very hydrating!

This has a thicker yet running gel-like consistency that absorbs easily into skin and blends out to a perfect finish. It’s not the type of product that will cling to less than smooth areas, larger pores, patchy and dry skin, etc…it merely melds with skin creating a soft, even layer that conceals minor issues, redness, darkness, and acne or blemishes. Although it seems to be sheer it actually builds very well and will hide a good deal of skin issues that you might suffer from. So don’t mistakenly categorize it as another US BB Cream with a tinted moisturizer formula. This is in fact a product that offers decent coverage and corrects problem areas with a formula that brightens and eases dullness while perfecting skin.

It contains Vitamin C to brighten skin however, you’ll have to use it over time I imagine to see any of its benefits. It also contains anti-aging antioxidants like vitamins A and E with an oil free/fragrance free formula.

I do warn you that it is very moisturizing so a little, at least for me, seems to go a very long way. It evens out my complexion, while easing my dullness and brightening my face prepping it for makeup. The moisture it provides seems to extend to the wear so at first application I feel very hydrated and throughout the wear time I feel equally moist. It’s a dewy to the touch finish that dries down to a soft, plush feel.

The wear seems shorter for me at around three hours before it starts fading and disappearing. I’d blame this on the amount of moisture it provides and my drier skin that just wants to suck it all up. You might experience a longer wear time if your skin isn’t as dry.

Overall, Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream definitely sets the stage for CC Creams this Summer. It’s one of the few brands at this point in the US offering a CC Cream formula and one of the first to launch one outside of Smashbox and Clinique. We’ll see more CC Creams as we head deeper into the season but Lorac definitely set the bar high in terms of a fairly good formula. On the down side, I do see myself using this more in the Winter due to the moisture it provides. I think me and it during a warm Summer day might be a little too much but I imagine it’ll be my best friend in the Winter when my skin can use the extra moisture.

It’s available now at Sephora, Sephora.com, or www.loraccosmetics.com

If you tried it I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Love this! I have combo skin that leans oily in summer and I actually think this will work well for me. Am really liking it under my foundation and find that I only need a dab of foundation or concealer to hide the blemishes etc. I am def ordering more!

Question for you Muse, do you think the Clinique covers better or about same? What about comparison in moisture levels?

    • the Muse

hi jen happy to hear it! needed concealer (under my eyes) but the it actually offered plenty of coverage for me so def didn’t follow up with foundation 😀 Clinique I liked a little more as it seemed to brighten my skin up more plus it looked more natural and the texture was a little nicer (gel, creamy but not as runny as lorac’s formula) however, lorac is WAY more moisturizing compared to clinique.

    • the Muse

um no not really the light shade was creamy ivory and the medium more of a beige undertone, warm but not too warm. Not really yellow.

  • Dusty

Okay I’ll be checking this one out! I’ve been testing all the CC Creams I can find (which isn’t many at the moment). I bought Clinique’s and as much as people seem to REALLY love it, I don’t. I have dry skin and that stuff just slides around on my face until it quickly turns to glue lol! Interested to compare it with this one! 🙂

    • the Muse

no way really? I’m dry too but didn’t have the same prob! over primer too? you might NOT like this one if you disliked Clinique’s as this has a thicker texture and a creamy consistency so I imagine it’ll slip and slide around a lot!!!!!!! perhaps stick to BB Creams ;-D thicker texture!

    • the Muse

ps have to reply to your email so sorry for the delay! been so swamped!

      • Dusty

Haha! No worries 🙂 I always give people at least two weeks to respond to emails – because that’s sometimes how long it takes me to do it 😉

Re: the texture – I find MOST tinted moisturizers, non-Korean BBs and CCs all kind of do the same thing. It’s something about how the pigment seems separate from the moisturizing agents – like it’s not a good emulsion. The color seems to slide over my skin while the moisturizer absorbs and then sort of dries in patches. I have MUCH better luck “witching” up my own BB cream with foundation, moisturizer and a serum! LOL! All of the Asian BBs I have though – totally different. They have a texture similar to one of my favorite foundations (Estee’s Re-Nutriv soufflé) but with a MUCH better price tag 😉

dude more like two years for me, I am craptastic at email and comments ;-D mmm it could be the SPF that causes that insanity. sometimes I get major separation issues on BB Cream if I didn’t use them in a while, just general grossness/oily mess. I think they kinda sorta went one of two ways with CC Creams lately…it’s either an all over highlighter or a decent coverage formula like this one. Korea seems to like the start as a white cream and adjust to your skin tone type of formula lately as well…..that proves interesting and dangerous as those almost always go orange on me ;-D would you believe and never tried EL Re-Nutriv and I love mousse-y style foundations! ha…something to add to my list!

          • Dusty

            Haha!

The Re-Nutriv cream is def worth getting a sample of to test. I’m a fan of spendy foundations because I love treating myself to something nice and pricey 😉 but I’m always skeptical of them! The first time I used it I started screaming from the bathroom: “JAY! OMG!!! THIS IS TURNING ME INTO A BEAUTIFUL BARBIE DOLL!!!” LOL!

          • the Muse

LOL…I’ve had those moments a lot ;-D how much do i love your BF is named jay! My BFF is also Jay but spelled with Jai 😀 we all need to meet up and have fabulous dinner together and squeal over makeup ;-D do you like the Estee Lauder Nutritious Vita-Mineral Makeup? I swear I convinced myself I was the Madonna after applying it ;D

  • Dusty

Nice! Unfortunately they discontinued that one before I had the chance to use it. It’s been available here and there on-line but always in darker shades. Oh well… win some, loose some (my wallet is happy about it anyway). LOL

    • the Muse

are you serious? how out of touch am I? I didn’t know they axed that. It was fab. Try shiseido perfect refining foundation, same concept but even better formula! HG for me ;-D loves it!

  • JuicesnBerriez

I was glad it didn’t have SPF too because I like to add my own. However, if it’s very moisturizing, the combo of moisturizer plus this might be too much. I have dry skin, but I recently tried another TM with my SPF moisturizer and it was toooo heavy. I think that’s one benefit to multi-use creams is so you don’t have to layer. Unfortunately, most of them aren’t moisturizing enough. And those that are, well, don’t have all the benefits. Lol.

  • Amy

Great review! It’s so hard to find CC and BB creams that are silicone free, so I can’t wait to try this!

  • Rachel

    Thank you for reviewing this!

I tried it from the tester today at Ulta and I think I need it in my life.

  • Julie

    Hey The Muse!
I am over 40, still have oily/combo skin that breaks out and can not stand having SPF on my face because it clogs pores and makes me sweat like a dog. Is there a CC cream you can recommend for an oiler skin?

The LORAC looks good but am nervous as you say it is geared for dryer skin. I think the STILA 10-in-1 has no SPF as well as the LOREAL STUDIO SECRETS.

Any recommendations, thoughts or love for me today???
Thanks for getting back as I realize you are very busy, but I love the website and i trust you!!!

    love,

hi julie how are you? Have you tried Tony Moly? It’s quite lightweight and does an excellent job correcting without being too heavy.

      Hope this helps 🙂

      • Julie

Thanks Muse-y! Never heard of Tony Moly but love the hame. I will investigate further. If you have any interesting links for me or think of anything else, please keep me posted. (literally, like a post! LOLOLOL)
