Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream Review & Swatches
Summer will be the season of the CC Cream and Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream is one of several new CC Creams I’ve been testing out this month.
Lorac’s new CC Cream ($28) is available in three shades and promises a six in one formula that neutralizes, primers, moisturizers, brightens skin up, and soothes it.
Let’s take a look!
I don’t mind that Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream lacks SPF as I typically apply my own sunscreen even when CC Creams/BB Creams have their own built in sunscreen however, this could be a deal breaker for some. I’m kinda surprised they didn’t put some sunscreen into this formula and maybe even a little bit shocked. I think with any CC Cream or BB Cream formula we expect the product to go the distance and that distance includes some sort of SPF.
Outside of this Lorac has created a very, very interesting CC Cream formula.
I would recommend this for drier skin and combination skin types however, it might prove a little too moisturizing for oily skin. It seems like the type of product I’d enjoy using in the cooler weather but not the warmer due to the amount of moisture it provides and continues to provide through the wear. It contains hyaluronic acid which not only provides moisture to thirsty skin but helps it to retain hydration so it’s kinda the moisture ingredient that keeps on giving. This is in fact why the formula of this CC Cream is so very hydrating!
This has a thicker yet running gel-like consistency that absorbs easily into skin and blends out to a perfect finish. It’s not the type of product that will cling to less than smooth areas, larger pores, patchy and dry skin, etc…it merely melds with skin creating a soft, even layer that conceals minor issues, redness, darkness, and acne or blemishes. Although it seems to be sheer it actually builds very well and will hide a good deal of skin issues that you might suffer from. So don’t mistakenly categorize it as another US BB Cream with a tinted moisturizer formula. This is in fact a product that offers decent coverage and corrects problem areas with a formula that brightens and eases dullness while perfecting skin.
Light and Medium
It contains Vitamin C to brighten skin however, you’ll have to use it over time I imagine to see any of its benefits. It also contains anti-aging antioxidants like vitamins A and E with an oil free/fragrance free formula.
I do warn you that it is very moisturizing so a little, at least for me, seems to go a very long way. It evens out my complexion, while easing my dullness and brightening my face prepping it for makeup. The moisture it provides seems to extend to the wear so at first application I feel very hydrated and throughout the wear time I feel equally moist. It’s a dewy to the touch finish that dries down to a soft, plush feel.
The wear seems shorter for me at around three hours before it starts fading and disappearing. I’d blame this on the amount of moisture it provides and my drier skin that just wants to suck it all up. You might experience a longer wear time if your skin isn’t as dry.
Overall, Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream definitely sets the stage for CC Creams this Summer. It’s one of the few brands at this point in the US offering a CC Cream formula and one of the first to launch one outside of Smashbox and Clinique. We’ll see more CC Creams as we head deeper into the season but Lorac definitely set the bar high in terms of a fairly good formula. On the down side, I do see myself using this more in the Winter due to the moisture it provides. I think me and it during a warm Summer day might be a little too much but I imagine it’ll be my best friend in the Winter when my skin can use the extra moisture.
