the Balm En Root Hair Spray

I admit I haven’t used hair spray since high school but the Balm En Root Hair Spray could possibly change my mind! Just saying hair, loads of bangs, and a ton of hair spray were all the rage in my high school years and so was dying your hair with kool aid, stuff like that really happened. Although as I recall Sister John was none to happy with those of us that dyed our hair outrageous shades using liquid powder drink mix.

Sometimes you have to look back on your younger years and think WHY!?

Needless to say I wasn’t terribly tempted to try out the Balm En Root Hair Spray, I thought I left the need for stiff, crunchy hair behind…

But hey, this isn’t so bad at all!

I did my hair in an inverted french braid on Saturday night and proceeded to worry that it would frizz up. I took special care with it but needless to say my hair is a mass of waves and curls so I figured a little spritz of hair spray wouldn’t kill me too much.

I admit I was worried this would make my hair super stiff and that wasn’t the look I was going for. But I actually liked the En Root Flexible Hold formula (it’s also available in Strong Hold)! It didn’t make my hair stiff, crunchy, or even sticky and it held together my look without it frizzing up plus it has a rather pleasant scent too. So I’ve now taken to using it to hold back my hair for the past two days as I typically wear a bun and a headband when I’m at work to keep my hair out of eyes and presto! Works a treat at keep my hair smoothed back because omg, does my hair frizz around my head as the day ends…! This keeps things nice and smooth.

I’m possibly back to believing hair spray can be helpful again!

    muuuuuuuse have you tried any of the milk_shake products??? I bought the leave in conditioner and it smells like CAKE!!!! like vanilla cake!! and it works pretty good too but most importantly *cake*!

        I think you should, if only for the fragrance! I’m going to try some of the other products from the line soon hehehe

    I think that the can of hairspray under my counter is at least 10yrs old. it maybe gets busted out once a year. I remember crunchy big hair *shudders* there were some girls at school whose hair defied gravity.

    Oh god do I abuse hairspray when I go out! This past weekend I went to a drag show and I didn’t want anything budging. Sprayed the hellll out of my hair, and I did spray my face with hairspray for extreme extra hold. I have no shame in my game.

        On my curls and yes, on my face. It’s an awfuuuuuuuuul old makeup trick (it seriously like glues your makeup to your face dancers and performers do it too!) and I literally do it like 4 times a year.

    I haven’t found a good, cheap hairspray that’s alcohol free, unfortunately. Good news is, my hair seems to do pretty well without it anyway–a good deep condition every week or two weeks keeps the frizzies at bay for me! Plus I’m ultra gentle with my hair anyway: no sulfates, no silicones, only occasionally shampooing my hair when I’ve put product in it. 🙂

    What does it smell like? I’ve been looking for a good hairspray that doesn’t smell awful. Haven’t found one yet 🙂

      really fresh can’t really pick any one note in it martine but it smells amazing 😀

    If you haven’t used hairspray since high school, that’s probably why you love it so much. Hairspray formulas have really changed since our teeny bopper years with whole ranges of finishes, textures, strengths, and scents. Makes me wonder how good these products really are compared to other popular brands on the market.

      sorry clio was just basing it off of my experience with this particularly brand. I don’t use hair spray often so was just sharing my thoughts on the Balm’s particular formula not the products that are currently available on the market as I haven’t tried any in a long time.

    I have short, funky hair that requires much product. Hair spray is a good friend of mine, and I keep quite a bit on hand. 😉 I do hate how it covers everything in my bathroom though!!
