Update on the Balm Sale

Update: the Balm tweeted they are having issues with their server. So far it is loading for me but very slowly. I’m getting images now as well but again, very slowly. See comments below as reader’s are reporting they are getting on and ordering a-ok! The 50% discount is taken off at check out. I have no info about International shipping at the moment.

Just to verify the Balm sale starts today. I got about 300 hundred e-mails telling me how it was an April Fool’s joke, how cruel it was, etc…

the Balm is really having a sale today and it really is 50% Off your total order. A few reader’s reported getting onto the site already and doing an order. Personally the site isn’t yet loading for me.

Just give it time, I imagine they are being SLAMMED at the moment.

I don’t have any other info, I don’t know how much shipping is, if they are shipping worldwide, etc…any updated info I get I promise I’ll report back.

Update: the Balm tweeted the server is down. Clear your cache and keep reloading. A few reader’s reported checking out ok but you can imagine they are being rushed with traffic so it is hard keeping the site up when people are trying to get on.

    The 50% discount won’t show up until the item is added to the cart. I snagged the Balm Jovi palette + 2 blushers, all for 50% off. Horray for new makeup that I totally didn’t need! :)

          Yep, I’ve cleared my cache, cookies, and recent browsing history, and still no dice. It’s not pulling up my Kindle or IE either for me, and now it’s time for bed for me (the joys of working 3rd shift). I’ll just have to check when I wake up later! ^-^

    It was taking a while to load, but once it did I was able to snag a few items and check out pretty painlessly. Pages did take about 5-10 seconds to load, but they eventually did.

        LOL I checked at 12am today and even cleared my cookies and still cant get there. Im hope to get just a few things but maybe not. I got so much to do today. This addiction ( I mean love for makeup) is no fun on days like these. ;P

    I made my order about 30 mins ago, it was rather slow but it wasn’t that irritating. However, I’m also used to this kind of stuff with all the online shopping I do. Patience is a virtue and remember, it’s just makeup :)

        can’t help myself =D I totally get that folks are frustrated but if not today, give it a couple of months and it’ll be on hautlook.com for comparable prices and there will be other sales later. I’ve go so much stuff that proper dents aren’t even put in them yet from use and I KNOW that i’m not alone in that~

        Blee- I can’t help myself! Muse is just the messenger, but you know what happens to the messenger, right? I feel bad for her trying to field the concerns regarding a 3rd party that she doesn’t have any control over. This seems to happen to her every time a sale doesn’t go as smoothly as anticipated. Remember the Sephora FF sale? Nyx’s sale that crashed their servers? there was even a sleek fiasco in the UK a couple of years ago and she fielded questions about that as well. I totally get the frustration, but they’re just toys for grown ups. There will be another sale, promotion, bogo or whatever. Am I a bit disappointed that I can’t get on the site? sure, but I’ll play with the toys that I already have and take my pleasure from them.

    Ok, this is just stupid now. I get 3 blush stains in my cart, which took for-freaking-EVER, go to checkout, am on the next to last step, and it crashes on me. Seriously!!??????? Couldn’t evn backtrack, either. Such a pain my arse.

    So, I put in my order this morning around noon. It took about 45 minutes to get my cart together and order. When I was trying to check out, it would let me go on to the billing page, but then it would shoot me back to the shopping cart page. I was persistent though and made it to the submit order page. I was so happy to click that button, then it told me I needed to call and my order couldn’t be placed. So I tried again and again and eventually it took my order. YAY! Good luck ladies!

    To be honest, I was really surprised they would do a mega-sale right after a major site overhaul. That’s usually a recipe for disaster, since it gives you no time to work out all of the site kinks before the server gets hammered. Ah well. :) Good luck to everyone purchasing!

    The great news is, our 24-hour 50% off celebration has not yet begun! thebalm.com didn’t expect such a huge influx of orders and we underestimated the number of our dedicated fans while overestimating the capacity of our server. We’re currently upgrading our server and are told that once it’s functional we’ll be able to accommodate everyone.     I was able to get through and managed to check out with a few things! It took a while, and I had to reload the error pages I was getting multiple times, but it did work for me! I expected it, as I had been reading the facebook page and figured that the website would get totally slammed.

    I feel bad for them; I think they just weren’t prepared for the interwebs world to go bananas over this sale! At least the people who were not able to get access will be able to get the sale prices once the server expansion is finished! It was nice of them to do that instead of turning around and saying, “oh, well, if you couldn’t get on, you couldn’t get on.”

    I think that it’s a great sale and I’m really excited that I found out it was going on! I can’t wait to try out what I ordered, as I have never even seen any the Balm products in real life! :)

    I only wanted Mary-Lou Manizer, and it took me an hour to place my order. I’m lucky it went through, although I got a duplicate order and may get charged twice. >:

    It’s a pity their servers weren’t ready for the traffic, but they’re handling it really well IMO. The only turn-off was all the people who posted rage comments on their site BEFORE the sale was even on!

    I managed to get in yesterday and ordered all I wanted. I did get through checkout and get the confirmation email. I could access the website all day yesterday without any problem I’m not sure why though when I see you that I was one of the only ones.
