Wet n Wild Going in the Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette Going in the Wild

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette in Going in the Wild is one of two limited edition palettes that were introduced recently for Spring. I know they’ve proved a little difficult to find and hope to hear you’ve had success locating them. Each one contains six shades for $4.99 each.

I located both of mine at Harmons but the display was pretty much wiped out really quickly. I’m hearing some folks had success at CVS so good luck finding them everyone and when all else fails Evil-bay is your friend for hardcore lemmings.

Wet n Wild Going in the Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette pring 2013

Going in the Wild is actually the more mismatched and challenging of the two palettes to wear or at least for me. The colors seem kinda odd for some reason and I had issues with them blending into a muddy mess. If anything at all I’d go with the Nude Awakening Palette as that has a nice range of nude colors that work together easily.

I admit Going in the Wild had me scratching my head.

On the up side these are some of the nicest ColorIcon 8 Pan Palettes I’ve tried. They don’t have a terribly frosty finish and lack the shimmer that prior ones have had. The colors are super smooth, heavily pigmented, easy to apply, and have a soft, silky texture. The liner shades do have chunkier glitter but aside from that I didn’t wrong into major frost which is something I’ve had to contend with in the past with these.

One side of the palette features a lilac shade but they recommend this pastel for the crease with a mauve for the lid. This is the side I used for my look below. I must admit the lighter pastel of the lilac was drown out my the mauve on my lid. I either lack the skill to apply these correctly or I’m correct in saying they just blend together like mud! Eep! The right hand side of the palette is no better as this as a mint eyelid shade and a khaki taupe for the crease….this is a better combo and is workable but again I had issues blending out and the colors just didn’t want to contrast together well. Perhaps I just don’t do pastels well.

On the upside they do have a nice formula and work great individually I just feel they are a bit mismatched when used together and the blending is sometimes harsh.

Wet n Wild Going in the Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette Face of the Day

If you’re a frequent user and master of pastels I imagine you’ll do just fine with this palette as for me I think I’ll stick with the safe nudes and naturals located in the other palette! That’s more my speed 🙂

Anyone own this?

I’d love to hear what sort of looks you created using it!

I purchased this item.

I can’t find thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssss and I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant it!

  • Tigrrrl

I think I’ll hold off, having purchased some of the new NYX palettes…but I gotta say, your eyes are gorgeous there, Muse!

  • charlotte

That eye look is gorgeous, and super flattering on you. You are too hard on yourself.

WnW has had issues with their shade labeling for me as well, thankfully it is just a suggestion. Some of the trios are practically unwearable “as labeled”… unless you are very brave with your cosmetic choices. I find that wearing the highlight on the lid, lid in the crease, and crease as liner is usually a safer bet.. and the addition of Nutty, Brulee, or Sugar helps as well for some of the brighter combos. I bet the right side of the palette would be pretty as a neutral eye, reserving the mint for the lower lashline.

    • the Muse

aw thnaks charlotte 🙂 I’m not sure it’s me but I had fun! I AGREE! I’ve run across ones where I shake my head and say what?! like sometimes they have green as a highlighter shade lol!!!!!!!!!

  • Jackie Diane

I was looking at those colors and the quality looks great, but the colors just aren’t really my cup of tea. I’m not a huge pastel fan. I’m now reconsidering as they look so pretty on you Muse! Wow!

    • the Muse

aw thanks jackie too kind of you! they are interesting, workable, mismatched as hell but you can work with them to a point 😀

  • Danii

Yeah, they screwed up on labeling these shades in the combos. The lilac should be your lid color, since it’s a pastel and really, how can it NOT be eaten up by the shade they recommend for the lid? Wet n Wild makes me scratch my head with their palette labeling sometimes.

    • the Muse

exactly my thoughts danii! I def wouldn’t put a pastel in my crease and a darker shade on my lid and not expect mud lol!

  • Priscilla

You definitely made this palette work, Muse! I love your lip colour as well, what is it? It’s a great fresh spring look 🙂

    • the Muse

thanks priscilla it’s a little challenging but was fun 😀 aw thanks it’s tokidoki prisma gloss 🙂 damn shame it is long gone :(!

  • Victoria

I have become addicted to your blog!!!! I’m checking it every hour for product updates.
You have introduced me to some brands I had never heard of (Étude House, Holika Holika, etc….) my debit card is in pain!

P.S. the lilac eyeshadow you are wearing from the WNW palette looks fab on you:-)

    Thanks Muse! X

    • the Muse

lol awesome victoria 😀 thanks so much for visiting daily, apologies for the debit card pain 😀 aw thank you dear!

  • Jade

Ahhh, you make these look good! Maybe I got a not-so-good one? When I swatched mine, the shadows were crumbly and not pigmented at all 🙁

    • the Muse

aw jade sorry 🙁 mine weren’t bad at all, was happy they were smooth and frost free!

  • Jeri

You look great in purples. You should try using the dark shade on the left on your lash line. Blend Blend Blend.

    • the Muse

i put a little bit on my lash line jeri but only a little, very thin line 🙂

  • Sara

I found this (finally!) in CVS the other day and I wore the green side of the palette today. I followed the palette labels for where to put the shadow and I got a fairly pretty and light look. The shadow applied pretty well and I was able to blend it. I added one or two other colors that I had to even it out but overall I’m happy with it. I don’t have a lot of lighter colors, so I really liked the light purple and green. I was tempted to get the nude palette too, but I have SO many colors like that so I passed.

  • Jen_m_sunshine

Yup…got both via evil bay! I love both of the palettes. In this one the lilac and mint are great….not together though as that would be 80s disaster…he he. I have been using one of those on the lid and pairing with a neutral matte (grey w the lilac and med brown w the mint) in the crease.

  • Janet Shepherd

Wow, the purple looks amazing with your big brown eyes! Actually I’m digging the whole look – any chance you could tell us what base/eyeliner/mascara/lippie you have on in these pics?

    • the Muse

aw thanks janet 🙂 if I can remember…lol! Face: Baby Choux, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Mascara: Pixi Mascara (just reviewed yesterday) and MAC Gigalash Cheeks: Laura Geller Roseberry Blush Lips: tokdoki prisma gloss in Samba eyeliner: pixi eyeliner in black tulip 🙂

  • Shari

I’m still on the hunt for these palettes, Muse. They are not showing up at any drugstores in my area yet. I think the lilac looks beautiful next to your dark brown eyes. Really makes your eye color pop. Hopefully I’ll be able to score both palettes soon. Fingers crossed!

    • the Muse

aw thanks shari! I hope you find them! fingers and toes crossed ;D

  • Devin

The purple looks great on you!
Just wanted to say thanks for being so amazing! This is by far my favorite blog and it is so obvious how much time/dedication/effort you put into blogging everyday! My nightly routine is sitting back and reading a few of the posts you put up throughout the day! Your Awesome! 🙂

    • the Muse

aw thanks devin really appreciate that! 🙂 I really try hard to bring you guys the latest and greats! <3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sarah

That green is just so beautiful tht it would make the whole palette worth it for me. I love pastels

    • the Muse

I used the pixi mascara i recently reviewed with mac gigalash 🙂

  • Sarah

I want this just for that beautiful mint! Saw a tutorial on phyrra’s blog and that color would be perfect to try it out.

  • Lola

Muse! What mascara are you wearing? Your eyes really caught me on this post as I usually go down to the comments first. Stunning!

    • the Muse

oh thanks lola! it’s gigalash by mac and the pixi mascara I just reviewed last night ;-D!

  • Caroline

Thanks for the review! I still haven’t had any luck hunting these down. Pretty sure I missed out on them, but it’s good to see them here in action! 🙂

    • the Muse

you’re most welcome! sorry Caroline 🙁 hope you find them soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wendy

@Sarah, me too! I saw this at Wegmans and bought it just for the mint eyeshadow. I aree, none of these shades seem to go together, but individually, they’re nice.

But Muse, the mauve/lilac looks lovely on you!

    • the Muse

aw thanks wendy! I’m never sure about purple ;-D sometimes I like sometimes I’m a little hmmmm!

  • Cynthia

You look lovely and I really like the lilac drawing out the spring like attention. I gotta search and hunt for this palette in the NYC area.

    • the Muse

thank you!!!!!!!!! I agree really liked the spring-y white compact ;D

  • Morthy

You look AMAZING with the purple eyeshadow, Muse. Although I love purple, I’ve never managed to wear it: every time I’ve tried, it looks like I lost a fight 🙁

    • the Muse

me too morthy don’t feel bad girl! AND THANKS 🙂 I think it depends on the purple, some make me look like I fell into a fist hehe!

  • Tammie

I like pastels and I want this one! Though like the others are saying I wouldn’t use it as labeled.

The only problem is I never seem to get the summer LE WnW stuff in my area >.<

    • the Muse

tam next time we chat on gtalk remind me and when I go to store and look for wnw you can give me your number and i’ll text ya see if you want any of it.

      • Tammie

Thanks! Or if you have an email you check often I can just send it to you…I will probably forget by the next time I see you on chat haha xD. OR if you want you can send me yours, the email I use here is my main one. Whatever works for you is fine with me 🙂

I am also going to check some CVS in my area and see if they have it…supposedly it was spotted there but who knows how long ago that was or if they still have any, so I am not too hopeful.

          • Tammie

Did you send it? I didn’t get it for some reason :X

Thanks~. I wish it was a closer CVS though, bah! That’s never the case is it haha.

  • Janelle

I am having no luck finding any of the Wet ‘n Wild shadow palettes. I have looked at Walgreens. Any ideas on where I can find these? I am in California so I do not have a Harmons. I was thinking to check Bed Bath and Beyond, but I am not sure if they care WnW? I would appreciate any ideas.

    • the Muse

hi janelle try BBB they have a beauty section here (hopefully CA has BBB’s with a good beauty section) also I hear folks having success at CVS. Can’t see exactly places to look in CA, I’m on the East Coast so don’t have a ton of ideas but hopefully other CA residents will pipe up and give you some deets 🙂

  • Cindy Ramirez

I’m glad I didn’t find this, I would have been so upset!

  • Megan

I looooove these new palettes! The only place in my area (western Ohio) that I’ve seen them is at Meijer.

  • Stacie

I finally found these at a CVS in a city pretty far from my own when I was out there for an event. I had to get this for the green! I really never use the colors how they are labeled. I think for $5 you can’t go wrong with these palettes. They’re the only drugstore eyeshadows I buy.

  • yelena

whatever you did, it looks great! u pulled off the colors very well! I am excited to see the mint colors on you too! that taupy crease color looks GORGE!

  • reen

u look sooo pretty with purple eyeshadow! thanks for the swatches! perfect colors for spring!!

  • blueraccoon

Maybe it’s me, but mine didn’t swatch all that well. The lilac’s almost invisible and the mint green isn’t much better. I bought it mostly because I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t grab it but I don’t know if I can make it work for me either. I like the other palette *much* better.

  • Samantha Handley

Hun you look absolutely gorgeous in this photo. The combination of those colors do compliment your eyes very well and are perfect for this time of year 🙂

  • Amy

I want this just for the green…and the purple…but mostly the minty green….

Also, you look so adorably pinky purple in that picture! 😀

  • Sara

I can’t find these ANYWHERE. I’ve looked so hard since your first post went up, and I’ve had no luck. I’ve been having such a hard time lately, and I just wanted cheap Spring-y colors to cheer me up.

  • pickygal

I have been searching/calling every CVS near me with no luck thus far! :(. i even went so far as to email cvs corporate to see if there was a way to find out if these would be coming to my area (Minnesota). I know for the holiday wnw 2012, I did eventually get mine at kmart, so Im also going to check them out…

  • Stephanie

I just found the spring palettes here in MN today at CVS and I have been scouring the Twin Cities and even Florida when I was on vacation, so don’t give up! I also found a WnW end cap display at Walgreen’s with purple, green, blue and pink mascaras! Had to get the blue and purple, just like I had in high school in the 80’s!

  • Lisa

I walked into CVS and one of these was randomly on the shelf. Return, I guess. I snagged it–six months late!
