Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation Review & Swatches

Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation Summer 2013

Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation got me kinda excited as I like mousse foundations well enough although I did have my mishaps with Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation.

This is a creamy foundation product in the vein of Covergirl TRUblend Whipped Foundation.

Take a look!

Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation

This comes in a smaller glass jar that houses 0.6 oz of the Clean Whipped Creme Foundation. I believe I paid $5.99 at Harmons but don’t quote me on that price. It’s available in an extensive array of shades so you should be able to find a suitable one for your tone. I selected 320 but it was a little too dark for me however, not nearly as bad as I imagined.

It’s actually beautiful foundation. It’s rich, creamy, yet lightweight, breathable and easy to apply. It blends evenly, smoothly, and leaves behind fairly good coverage that can go from sheer to almost medium when built up but not quite full coverage. On my drier skin it has a smooth finish without accentuating flakier areas. I used primer prior for the smoothest finish but even application without produced an airbrushed effect. I’m unsure how oily skin will feel about it as it does dry down to a fairly matte finish but not so much so it’ll soak up excess oil. I also think it might be a little too rich if your pores easily clog or you suffer from blemishes or break outs.

The deal breaker here is the wear time is terrible. It absorbs fairly quickly once applied and does not oxidize however, within an hour or two of application you’ll notice it completely wears away. I wear foundation to ease dullness and even out my complexion and I can see the dullness return to my skin within a fairly short time when wearing this so that in fact means it fades away very fast. I just didn’t feel like I even applied foundation after around 90 minutes of wear.

Sigh.

Oh well…!

I actually felt their original formula had a thicker texture and better wear time. Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation is a pleasure to apply and has a very nice finish but the wear time is iffy on my drier skin.

Tried it?

I have this too, but I haven’t really used it yet since I didn’t want to test it on a work day (sounds like that was a good call). I guess I’ll just use this one when I have to run out for a bit on the weekend.

A dupe for my beloved L’Oreal Magic Smooth Mousse Soufflé foundation that got discontinued earlier this year. Yay!

It looks clumpy o_O In the blended swatch, it looks very clumpy. A bit dry too, like crumbly clay. Weird! Too bad it doesn’t last, you *seemed* to like it in the beginning!

The picture of it in the jar made me crave a Wendy’s Frosty. LOL.

I feel like a broken record, see, about 25, YES–TWO FIVE–years ago, Covergirl had a Clean whipped foundation. I think it was touted as being moisturizing. Anyway, I kinda was partial to the stuff but it would fall off my face by 5th period of school. LOL. I feel like sooooo many of the CG products are re-promotes, as of late. I did have a jar of the TruBlend whipped foundation and adored it….saddened that this isn’t the same/similar.

Crazy- someone else I read said they really love it! Different strokes for different folks! 😉

yup that’s the beauty of makeup ;-D what works for me might not work for you and vice versa.

I was waiting for this review, and hoping against hope that it would turn out to be a good one! I have the weirdest skin to try to find good coverage for — blemish-prone, oily in some areas, and dry and flaky in others. I’ve been on the hunt for a lighter, less suffocating replacement for foundation that won’t make me break out, and have been settling for BB creams so far. Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse was too heavy. Dream Airfoam provided little coverage and clung to my flaky patches. I wanted to try to Dream Matte Mousse, but I’m concerned over how little product comes in the jar for the price. This CG one sounds awful if the wear time is that short… I also heard the jars don’t come sealed. Gross! Anyone out there with acne-prone, combination skin have a Holy Grail product to share??

  • PunkinMuffin

Sorry, nothing to share by way of a magic foundation, but we could be skin sisters, I have exactly the same issues. I have not been able to find anything that works for my extremely troublesome combination skin. Anything that works for my T-zone makes the rest of my face dry and scaly, and anything that works for my dry areas, makes my nose an oil slick. If anyone else knows of some magic potion I would really love to know about it.

I just saw this foundation in a store the other day and was a little put off by the packaging. I’m not someone who considers herself to be a packaging snob, but I continue to be amazed by how cheap and/or dated Cover Girl packaging looks. With a few exceptions (like their lipsticks), everything they put out looks like it came out of a time capsule buried in the 80s or was made by some indie retailer who uses stock containers because they can’t afford anything custom.

You aren’t the only one who had short wear times. I think it lasted maybe an hour & I wore it on a day when I was going to be sitting down at work! I had a bad time with my skin breaking out with it too. :'( Oh well. I just get to try more products! Lol

  • jinelleloves

Thank you for this review. I think I’m going to pass on this one ;(
I need something that will last all day on my oily skin.

  • Quinctia

I’ve been having the opposite wear time. I plop this stuff on, sans primer, set it with UD Deslick Powder, and it’s been wearing better than my favorite Skin79 BB Cream.

Now I’m going to have to try to foundation with a different powder and the powder with a different foundation to compare. FOR SCIENCE. I got them both at the same time, and why change something that works well, right?

  • Jennifer Borkowski

No matter which whipped I try, hands down, the maybelline one is the best! Decent coverage and oil control. Ive bought every foundation in every price range because it is the new or “it” thing. I always go back! I agree with the comment about the blended swatch looking cakey, flakey, dry. I notice that with a lot of whips.

  • MaKaela

I have very oily skin and same with some of my other friends. I have only heard great things about this foundation. And how it wears all day for them with still a light feel with the needed coverage. I’m hoping it does the same for me.
