Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencils for Summer 2013

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencils

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencils are a new range of chubby colored pencils that are launching in drugstores for Summer 2013. These quite remind me of Covergirl Eye Slicks which I’m unsure are even available anymore (Sorry, I don’t pay too much attention to CG’s offerings so I could be completely old school with the Eye Slicks reference).

These are available in ten shades and were $5.49 at Harmons. They had some tricked out colors which really sparked my interest like a gorgeous olive green and a flaming red!

Take a peek!

I picked up three of these and have hopes they won’t be frosty as they appear quite metallic. They aren’t a twist up design so a sharpener is required with these. I thought some of the shades were quite unique and those are the ones I ended up hauling like Lime Green, Gold Flame, and Red-Hot Flame.

I haven’t seen them everywhere but Harmons had a fairly large display of these and some new single shadows that Covergirl also introduced.

Anyone try yet?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. These are great on the lids but burn if applied on the waterline, at least for me. Just thought I should warn you 🙂

I grabbed a few of each when I saw them in Harmon’s. I hate to be a naysayer.. but I thought they were a little lackluster. The eyeshadows were a little bit chalky, I got the gold and silver shades.. I’ve only swatched them, so I’m hoping for better results on the eyes! I also got a few pencils, they’re nice.. but maybe not a must have.

Hey Muse! I saw a smaller version of the display at CVS; it contained only neutral colors. My initial reaction was “meh”, and on further inspection — particularly with the eye color pots which are nothing more than powder shadows (I would have bought them if they were cream shadows like the Color Tattoos, so I’m kinda glad they weren’t) — I passed. I have an almost automatic dislike of Cover Girl products, with the one exception being the cream-to-powder shadows which I use as eyeshadow bases. But I am curious to see what you think of them.

hey christina. I actually found these ALL the way upstate! I’m def meh aside from the really pretty shades (red?! OMG!) but I thought the singles were also cream or some sort of mousse but as a powder not sure they are going to be great :-/ Def curious how I’ll feel!

I’m a huge sucker for *any* red eye product, and if I stumble upon these, I will likely pick up the reds-in spite of my CG boycott, LOL.

  • Ruth

Haven’t seen this display but have tried a few CG things and have been disappointed each time.

  • Steph

Upstate? Really? Can’t be to far upstate cause we do not have Harmon’s

  • Ruth

Good, thought it was just me! My stila eyeliner had run its course and purchased a CG liquid liner, rubbish! it lined half of one eye and the tip would dry up. that was my last attempt with CG products. their lippies smell funny, their eye shadow doesn’t show up, their foundation makes me look like an oompa loompa, just bad luck with their products.

also, did you see converse is having a sale? just helping =D

    • the Muse

imma heart you so hard because I snagged all those neons for $34 each! 😀 thanks! and yeah, CG products typically don’t work for me either, don’t feel bad :-/ Although I will say the new foundation seems quite good….!

I just found these yesterday at Meijer and was hoping you’d seen them! I also saw a new L’Oreal Denim collection with 3 new, limited edition Infallible eyeshadows. Have you seen them yet?

    • the Muse

I haven’t Megan, just the new covergirl goodies. Hoping to see the Denim Collection soon ;D sounds good!

  • Christina

Here we go off topic again but anyway —

The L’Oreal Denim collection does feature three Infallibles — but they are NOT limited edition (thank Heavens!). The eyeliners are as well as the mascara but again, not the Infallibles. I really couldn’t take another easter egg hunt for LE things right now!

    • the Muse

thank GAWD lol…I couldn’t either I had my fill of LE Infallible shadows! ;D

But I am curious about the new Revlon Super Lustrous Color & Shine lipsticks. I generally like Revlon’s lip products, and these have been getting raves when I’ve come across on-line reviews. Have yet to see them in store. Not that I need anymore lip products, mind you.

    • the Muse

I haven’t but quite curious about the lipsticks myself! Was hoping to find them but no luck :-/

  • Laura

I think it’s cute how you picked the perfect fall/autumn shades!

  • Ruth

Hi, we’re Ruth & The Muse and we have a converse addiction problem. It has been less than 24hrs since our last lusting for new chucks. We stalk the site on the daily waiting to see the newest releases and when a sale is announced, we whip out the AmEx and charge with abandon. We are not regretful of our purchases and snuggle them happily when they arrive. We like to just sometimes look at our converse collection and imagine the pair that we’ll select the next time we go out. That is all.

    • the Muse

LOL! ;-D exactly my thoughts. I ordered three pairs yesterday! ;-D I NEEDED to have those pink/blue/and peach neon shades for my stash. tempted to go back for a few others I have my eye on *head desk*

    • the Muse

i actually have an orange pair from a bit ago you should def indulge, it’s a great color!!!!!!!!!!! I have my first pair too! eyelet pink high tops ;-D they are still in excellent barely used condition! I treat them like a child haha!

It’s funny how much drugstore product I own, yet I can’t get on the Covergirl train. Their foundation was too heavy for me, their eyeshadows tend to be of hit-or-miss quality, and in general, their face products are nothing to write home about. The only thing I own an exceptional amount of from them is their Lip Perfection lipstick line. I’m willing to give these a look when they show up, but I don’t have high hopes. 9_9

BTW, in comment to Christina’s post, I have seen the new Revlon products in my area. There was a whole new line of lipglosses being advertised along with the lipsticks, so it’ll be hard to miss when it does show up. I’ve only seen it at one store, though, so I think it’s taking it’s good old time showing up. 😛

when I bought my purple hi-tops, they were just about new but I wore those shoes every single day because I loved them so much. they’ve been drawn on, colored on and washed a few times too. the sole is separating from the shoe, the racing stripes are peeling off and the traction is gone but they still get to see sunshine every once in a while. OK, you convinced me, I’m getting the orange pair. and maybe the mint ones too…
