Covergirl + Olay Eye Rehab 2 in 1 Concealer Review & Swatches

Covergirl + Olay Eye Rehab 2 in 1 Concealer

Occasionally comical products pass by my desk and Covergirl + Olay Eye Rehab 2 in 1 Concealer is one of those products. Seriously, this is a product that makes me laugh, shake my head, and ask “Why!?”

At first I was quite excited about this. It was a concealer with a hydrating serum built right in! It comes in a small pump style bottle with a helix design that shows the concealer swirled with a creamy serum. The idea and concept seemed great.

So why was it so funny?

Covergirl + Olay Eye Rehab 2 in 1 Concealer Summer 2013

It seems they basically miniaturized Cover Girl Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation and slapped a new label on it. Seriously, insert rolling eyes here.

This is one of the worst concealer products I’ve come across in a while. Its a slippery mess, provides zero coverage (conceals NOTHING), and annoys me with the “CC Cream” label on the jar stating that it offers color correction. Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!

Ok…

So here’s the problem.

First of all the packaging is faulty. It distributes way too much product so you have to be super gentle when pressing down to avoid a major mess.

I think the idea behind this is great for aging eyes or anyone with crepiness because the texture is very hydrating and glides easily onto skin. I don’t particularly like the texture. I have drier eyes and I’m always looking for a moisturizing concealer however, this texture is too slippery and feels oily to me. This in fact part of the down fall because it absorbs into skin in a snap and leaves behind zero coverage which also happens to result in a short, short wear time.

There are four shades available I believe. I picked up the Light and the Light/Medium however, both shades are VERY dark so beware fairer skin folks.

Light and Light/Medium

I don’t have much else to say about this product. It’s just bad all around. Zero coverage, a slippery texture, and correcting plus concealing benefits? No, definitely no!

If you disliked Rehab Foundation chances are you’ll feel the same about this concealer. To me it seems the same exact product just with a new label calling it a concealer.

Tried it?

Love to hear your thoughts.

This one is going back to the drugstore as soon as possible. I might just toss it from my desk over to the store!

I purchased this item.

OMG why does CG always do this!!!
They did it with tinted moisturiser now repackaged BB cream, & most recently the lipslicks I think they’re called. I mean really CG must think we cant read, have very short memories or dont have great beauty bloggers like the Muse to figure their $#!T out……Le sigh…

    • the Muse

lol wenz…I’m not so great really I think everyone realized many of their “new” products for Summer seem to be merely repackaged 🙂

CoverGirl was pretty bad 20 years ago, but at least the former pricepoint made it tolerable, and they did have a decent stick concealer. However, it seems the higher they raise their prices, and the try to “improve” the line, the worse it’s actually getting! Next to WnW, they were pretty much the least expensive DS brand, but they at least held their own against Maybelline; now, their priced to rival L’Oreal, but now the quality is just *awful*. Why can’t companies just stick with what works? It’s not just CG, as I’ve seen the same happen with Lancôme & Estee Lauder, just to name a few… Well, at least WnW changed for the better, *and* kept the prices pretty much the same.

Egads, those are yell-ow! CG drives me nuts. I feel fairly confident I have zero products from them. Honestly, I feel like they need a brand overhaul. JMHO.

  • amy

This *is* the brands “overhaul”, LOL. As I stated above, CG was, at one time, at least mediocre, and their pricepoint reflected that. Now, they’re just awful, and have become one of the pricier DS brands, just behind L’Oreal, which has always been the most expensive. Since P&G bought Max Factor, and banished the brand from North American markets (as a tactic to eliminate competition), CG has been “rebranded” and there was an excuse/opportunity to raise the prices 300+%.

I tried the new CG Clean Whipped Cream and it was a flop too! I applied it, it looked amazing, and about 3 hours later I couldn’t even tell it was on my face! This is why I usually steer clear of CG products. The only product I’ve ever bought from CG that I’d ever recommend, re-buy, and have purchased multiples of is the Clump Crusher mascara.

mia d so far in my testing I had same experience, beautiful texture SHORT wear :-/

Alright everyone, hold on tight. I purchased this the other day AND–LOVE IT. I need very little coverage, need the yellow undertone and find that this is one of the few under-eye products that didn’t make me want to scratch my eyes out. I, too, like their foundation from this line. I feel that this concealer is just a smidge creamier than the foundation and has a dash more coverage. I am 38 rolling up on 39 and have pretty decent skin, although I am a classic “combo.” I do like to set this with NYX setting spray that gives a dewy finish. (the exact name escapes me.) Throw on a little NYX cinnamon blush and Hard Candy Pin up cheek color and instant wonderful inner glow type skin for me! This just goes to show, what works for some doesn’t work for others and vice versa.

I cannot BELIEVE that shade is called Light by CG! It’s most def a Medium or a Light/Medium at the very least. You’d think, if anything, the shades would run light since it’s for undereyes, not dark as hell! Thanks for saving me some money, cuz this looks like something I’d totally be drawn to, since I’m a huge concealer junkie, HE or DS. Covergirl is the worst about repackaging the same old crap as “new.”

I have used Covergirl + Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation in Creamy Natural. It’s my color and I use it as a concealer under my 40 year old eyes. My teenager reads your blog and told me you said the CoverGirl + Olay Eye Rehab CC Cream is just repackaged Tone Rehab Foundation!?!

I can tell you since I have used both that you are correct! Mine was $9.99 – $1.50 = $8.49. I guess that is like half price since I paid $16 for the foundation when it first came out.

I am still on the lookout for my perfect concealer that covers dark circles without highlighting crow’s feet!

      Hi.
I have tried a ton of products for dark circles and under eye puffiness.
I just bought Loreal Revitalift eye cream just for that.
I have never had luck with any loreal product but this is
      amazing!
i couldnt believe how weil it works!
      give it a try!
i am 48 and need all the help i can get!
      lol
i also use the Loreal Miracle Blur under my foundation
and sometimes use it during the day
just smooth over the face and chin
      works so well !!

  • Richelle

Its dark and orange tinged because it corrects the blue and purple hues of the under eye. I too was skeptical but it works amazingly for my light, warm skin tone.

  • Richelle

(I do hate the repackaging as well, though. BB cream, foundations and lashblast ugh.. But I couldn’t resist the ity-bity pump style bottle I think its cute! And a lot more sanitary than a pot or wand concealer. Too bad the shades don’t work for everyone.)

I just purchased this eye rehab product because I suffer from dark hereditary circles under my eyes, and I have about 15-20 conceals I use SOLEY for covering my under eye darkness. A lot of the products are higher end purchased from Sephora, and every single one of them creases into my lines, I’m only 26, but have always had crows feet (lines similar to lauren conrad, but slightly more
I have a severe problem with cakiness and concealer settling into those lines, whether I use primer or setting powder, doesn’t matter.
    my skin is also oily.
ANYWAY, I have since decided to try lower end products, and this one looked so appealing. The only thing I own by cover girl, which I love is the Lash Blast mascara. It beats out other high end ones for me.
I have fair skin, and just washed my make up off to try this, and upon first use, I got to say its not the worst concealer I have tried. And let me tell you, I have concealer from Lancome, amazing cosmetics, maybelline, it costmetics, bare escentuals, laura mercier, nars, etc, thats only about half.
I really like the smell, and it’s very silky smooth. I have the lightest color they had in 320, and I don’t have a problem with the color at all, the orangey tint to it is supposed to color correct the purple/blue tones to dark circles. if you look at a color wheel, whatever shade your darkness is, you should use a color across from it for correcting, hence the oranginess.
After a few minutes, like EVERY concealer for me, this started to crease in my lines pretty much instantly.
SO, that being said, my only complaint about this product is that it’s not full coverage, I’d say sheer to moderate. I tried layering it, and it just ended up looking caked on and like too much. however, I like the texture and smell. Honestly, you get a lot of product also.
This could be good for someone with lighter circles.
I will probably keep this concealer though to play it with it a bit more to see what kind of techniques I may find successful in using it.
The search continues for under eye concealer for me….

I nought this product today, and I actually really like it! I squirt a litlle in the back of my hand, and pat it umder my eyes, at first it looks a tad strange, but as soon as I set it with my transluscent powder it works wonders. I love it. I got the light/medium shade because they looked pretty dark as Is, and im tan, so it looks really good and works for me!

  • Jenn

I was not impressed at all with this product. You summed it up well. I completely agree.

  • Susan Hall

I also bought this today, and the color is WAY WAY too DARk ANd I bought LIGHT…I agree with the ladies that said it is just foundation in a smaller bottle…..TOO DARK……WAY WAY TO DARK….
