Etude House Color Pop Shine Tint Review & Swatches
Etude House Color Pop Shine Tint is a new tinted lip stain available in five shades released with the limited edition Color Pop Summer 2013 Collection.
I generally like lip stain and these were released in some popping shades of orange. So my two obsessions, orange and lip stain, combined together made them a tempting morsel indeed.
I know some folks dislike lip stain because they found it drying but I really love using it under my favorite MAC Lipglasses to amp them up a bit. Or on their own really as they are an easy way to get a bit of tint on my lips without having to haul out lipstick, gloss, etc….
Etude House Color Pop Shine Tint is all about the orange. Some of the shades are quite like what MAC has released in the All About Orange lipstick range only in a lip stain formula.
Take a look!
These come in a small chunky white gloss-like tube with a flexible yet large doe foot applicator. I was expecting a traditional gel-like tinted lip stain but these are actually a cream lip stain of sorts.
They texture is some what like a lighter cream liquid lipstick with a creamy texture and finish that isn’t quite a stain. They have a semi matte formula that feels and looks like a cream liquid lipstick but with a lighter texture and subtle pigmentation. Honestly, if you’re heading into this purchase believing they are a gel of sorts or even a lip stain for that matter you might be disappointed.

For me…they feel, look, and act like a really light weight liquid lipstick. Even the drier feel has that liquid lipstick vibe going on. They don’t stain lips nor do they have a lasting staining effect. They do however, provide subtle color to lips that will last about three to four hours. I find them very dry and even though my lips are not aging or finely lined they still settle into the natural lines on my lips so you do need to be sure to run a finger or a cotton swab over your lips after application for a smoother look.
Although the formula is tricky and drying they actually tint lips a nice little shade of wearable orange or coral. I can’t really wear full on orange but this is an easy to way to do so with a more sheerer finish. They kinda produce a my lips but better in a shade of peach.
I purchased Swing Pop and Coral Pop and honestly, I can’t see the difference between the two colors. I think it’s safe to say you might not need ALL the shades, perhaps just one of the darker colors and one of the lighter.
As for flavor or fragrance…there is some orange perfume-y taste going on here but it is very, very subtle.
Overall, they have quirks especially the dryness….! But they also produce a rather nice tint to lips! I wouldn’t say these are stains but more like a lighter, more subtle liquid lipstick. I think they’ll do well under lipgloss but you mind feel they are too drying on their own.
