L’Oreal Cherie Merie Infallible Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

L'Oreal Cherie Merie Infallible Eyeshadow Spring 2013

Cherie Merie is one of four new limited edition L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow shades launched with the Miss Candy Collection. This isn’t a new shade for some of you as you might have already gotten your hands on it in Canada under the name Pepsi Coral or in the UK as Magnetic Coral.

But I am happy to report that it is quite different from Magnetic Coral if you own that shade already. I can’t speak for Pepsi Coral though as I do not have it.

I personally adore corals as you know and this shade is no exception to the rule plus the formula is absolute perfection compared to other Infallible shades.

Take a peek!

As much as I love L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow I will admit it is irritating to work with at times. Fall out, lots of shimmer, a little too much frost, etc…all make for a woe of a formula to work with at times.

I have to say if they made more shades like Cherie Merie I’d be a happy girl. This is a smooth, satiny creamy texture. This doesn’t have as much frost as other shades do, not as much shimmer, and not the metallic finish I’ve come to associate with the formula. I think if you own and used these shadows you know exactly what I mean.

Cherie Merie improves on the entire formulation! It’s just so smooth and doesn’t have the flakiness of the original formula. It applies and blends easily and feels almost like a cream to powder texture.

Of course, I should really discuss how stunning the shade is. What an excellent shade to release now as the warmer weather is upon us! This is a bright, vibrant coral with a touch of tangerine to it. It’s a little difficult to use as an all over eye color but pair it up with a little brown, cranberry, or even gold to create a beautiful sunset eye look. Below I used it all over my lid and than I took a little Milani Espresso Line Shadow Eyez and blended it with my finger into this crease and BAM instant smoky coral look for brown eyes.

Needless to say this is a must have shade. The color is stunning but it really is the formula that deserves the rave here. I hope L’Oreal will do more shades like this in the future.

Own it?

Do share!

Love to hear your thoughts!

P.S. I’m tempted to use this as a blush!

I purchased this item.

Do you remember my prediction that you would love love love this shade? I am so glad I was spot on — and it looks great on you. Not so much for me but I am very glad to have it.

    • the Muse

see you should have made a bet ;-D I ADORED it…! You can do so much with it…def not a straight color on eyes but mix it with gold/brown/cranberry and you can get a variety of looks ;-D

  • Michelle

Wow – this is so pretty! I’m itching to go shopping for this, like NOW!

  • Virginia

I’m with you on the Infallible shadows. I love them. BUT, many are frosty, glittery, and shimmery. I love me some shimmer, but a nice satin, or even matte would be great.

    • the Muse

agreed…! this is way different no chunky shimmer, no frost, just gorgeous smooth color ;-D

  • HapaGirl

Hm, I saw this at the drugstore the other day and thought it was too orange for my skin tone, but I see how nice it looks on you – especially with the brown added to it. If I stumble on it again I might actually pick it up!

    • the Muse

hapa I think you can do so much with it…combine with gold, cranberry, brown…I wanna try it as a blush too!

  • Christina

As much as I like corals and oranges, they just don’t do anything for me, at least not on my eyes; I need cool colors, not warm. But I think this color would be great as a blush so I may try dabbing it on my cheeks and blending out. Doens’t really matter…must have Infallibles…all of them…wants…precious…

    • the Muse

LOL agreed could be a color I can’t use and still WANT!

  • charlotte

I’ve seen the more shimmery colors used as highlights for the face, and they look beautiful, so I see no reason why this one could not be a pretty blush.

  • Bree

I was thinking this morning how I wanted a coral shadow! And at a drugstore price this is perfect!

  • Laura H.

I’ve swatched pepsi coral and I think it is pretty much the same colour. Very beautiful summer shade !

  • blueraccoon

I *knew* you’d love this one, Muse! So glad to know I was right. It really is gorg, although I don’t know if I can wear corals as well as you can. But I’m glad I have it.

    • the Muse

blue try it with some gold or cranberry or brown! I bet you can rock it 😀

  • Gwen O’Brien

I pondered this at Walgreens last night for a half an hour and BAZINGA, you do a review the next day. Guess I know where I am headed at lunchtime…

  • Lore

I realize this is a review of blush, but what is that gorgeous color you have on your lips in the photo “worn with brown eye shadow”?

  • Lore

Ha! Did I mention I haven’t had my full ration of coffee yet this morning?! Thank you Muse!

  • Lore

I just checked the link, the lip look I’m referring to is in the first two photos of you in the grouping of four above.

  • TwirlyGirly

That is definitely YOUR color, Ms. Muse! Looks stunning on you. Must. Buy. Now!

  • Lore

Tah ha ha! But of course it is! I could have saved both our caffeine-free addled brains this morning and asked if that was the Clarins in the first place! The color was so similar. Ah well. Thanks beautiful Muse!!!

    • the Muse

no worries lore, I’m NOT a morning person so I can totally relate to dysfunctional mornings ;-D hehe! my pleasure!

  • Jade

Hi, Muse! I’m in Canada and wanted to let you know that Magnetic Coral and Pepsy Coral are actually individual and different shades! It seems this one is an entirely new shade 😮 Now I’m wishing I had it here to compare to!

    • the Muse

thanks jade. I don’t have pepsy coral so couldn’t compare 🙂

  • Kaitlyn

Oh Muse! You make me want to try coral eyeshadow! It looks fantastic on you!!!

  • Louise

Hi Muse, I love your shadow swatches, I am currently deciding between Urban Decay Free Love / Loreal infallible magnetic coral and this Loreal cherie merie shadow. they all look really similar! I have only swatched UD freelove on my own hands before, but not the other two loreal ones. can you tell me which has less fallout? i have rather sensitive eyes.

thanks for your help dear 😀
